No, but someone put a gun to my head when they robbed a store. They shot the manager for not turning over the money but they let the rest of us go.

Oh, my goodness, no! Thank God!! Have you (person who started this thread)? I watch a lot, I mean a lot, of true crime because the cases and forensics fascinate me but i hope to never have first person experience or any of my loved ones. I also hope that if you are reading this, the same for you.

Um I dunno - if so they weren't successful as I'm still here. I thank God I've never found myself in that kind of situation. I only know of 2 people who were in that sort of scenario - one was killied and the other lived to tell the story but was never the same since that day.

Yes my husbands family of nut jobs especially his deranged sister. and then my Grandmother when I was 10 tried to pull a handgun on me.

My ex-husband tried choking me but luckily there were witnesses that got him off me. Not sure why he is still in my life after 30 years of knowing him! ::)

My ex-husband pulled a gun on me twice in his drunken state and tried to choke me. Now you know why he is an ex. I was also robbed at gun point at a place of work. thank heavens he did not pull the trigger but I gave him all the cash out of the register with out a doubt after all it was just money, but as I stepped over to open the register I stepped on the alarm to the police station and they were waiting for him and hauled him off to jail.

A sibling of mine liked clowning around in our family pool and would hold my head under water just a little bit too long. I was too small at the time to fight back. Does that count as trying to kill me?
O.K. how about this one. Yes, every time I'm driving on the road; any road; so many times there seems to be somebody who has no respect for life namely mine. The inexcusable driving has lead to near accidents on more than one occasion.

I could think of a few times lol and I'm pretty sure it would of happen if it for not a third party was there with me during those times. Not saying I have a lot of enemies but there were a few that I can recall.

Parents did not care.

I too was choked by a significant other until I started to black out. But then he stopped.
I had blood red eyes and bruises on my neck and shoulders (he was holding me down with his knees), but no other problems that I'm aware of.
Small world. It still bothers me to see someone choking someone else on television.
Same person also pulled a shotgun on me and my son one time, but then he said it wasn't loaded.

Actually, no. Maybe in a nightmarish dream, but not in real life. It’s not a surprise for a married couple or family member(s) to have killing tendencies toward each other in real life too. :sweat:

Not in my life. It only happens when I have nightmares when I go to bed.

I think drivers do that when I try to cross a street. I've been nearly killed going from the parking lot a store or bank. I didn't think walking was a dangerous business, but it really is.

No that has never happened to me personally thankfully. Nonetheless, I have had different circumstances when my life was in danger. I guess any veteran who has gone to war could answer this question with a "yes." My husband and I attend his yearly reunion with his Vietnam buddies, and there are still some guys struggling due to the reality of the situation they had to face.

Yes, Domestic violence is real and I would advice anyone to get out of any relationship the first time you are threatened or anything abnormal happens. It just gets worst after that.

Thankfully no, my life has been pretty peaceful. Any near death experience has been my own doing - like almost walking into traffic because I was distracted.
What do you mean by doctor though...? That's a scary thought.

I clicked on this thread because the subject caught my eye immediately, and I can't believe how many "close encounters" posters have had! My mother has been threatened by different people throughout her life, what appeared to probably be an attempt by poisoning, but I myself have never been in such a situation. I know someone who is no longer around me at all who would have greatly appreciated me to have died, though... And while I knew her, I almost did! But that was from severe health issues.

no matter how nice I am to my cat missy she's always trying to kill me(paw swipe,sleeping on my neck) I don't see how she'll be able to open any bags of food or cans if she succeeds,so she better think about it. Maybe she thinks she'll get all my Fusioncash and be able hire someone ?
