The kitchen is a pIace of gathering, and doing the dishes is unavoidable. A good dish scrubber (https://www.cfone.net/brand-new-kitchen-scrubber-silicone-sponge.html) is necessary. It is said that the first dish scrubber is made of sea sponge, which has soft and porous structure. The sea sponge is one of the simplest organisms and it is collected by people to make kitchen scrubber in the old days.
The change of dish scrubber happened in the 1940s. A company called DuPont developed a new artificial sponge as an alternative to natural sponge. The wheel of sponge use history keeps moving and we get many new material scrubbers such as silicone sponge (https://www.cfone.net/brand-new-kitchen-scrubber-silicone-sponge.html)!

Yes because my dishwasher hasn't worked properly in years. I just use it to store pots and lids.
-
I cook and my husband does the dishes. Good trade-off for me!!
-
I dont have a dish washer so yes I do my dishes :) Im not that fond of it, but unless I want to eat on paper plates its a must :)
I like scrubbie sponge thats soft, and if its a greasy dish I use a wash rag
-
I don't have a dishwasher, not because hubby won't buy me one but because I don't like the way he does dishes using one and it is easier not to have one and get mad because he does not really know how to use one. Besides I rather enjoy the quite time I have doing them. I grow my own sponges to do dishes with. Called a luffa sponge. It is really a gourd (luffa) and you have to peel the outer peel off when dry and get rid of a lot of seeds. But it is worth it. I am not using something that belongs in the sea and I have a lot of them. I give a lot of the sponges to family and neighbors all like them.
-
I wash dishes sometimes but if have occasions, we used the dishwasher.
-
Sometimes, but my husband wash most of the dishes
-
I do wash dishes, but use the dishwasher more.
-
I don't have a dishwasher anymore, have you seen the new kind wow. It made me mad when I had to wash before the dishwasher like the tv commercial nope not this one and all a sudden all the dishes was out! I do want those scrubbers/hotpotholder/petdandercomb as seen on tv 20.00 for the set should last for a lifetime. I don't like washing the dishes bad chore for me.
-
No dishwasher, so yes, I do wash dishes. I use a sponge or rag.
-
I also have the my-husband-cooks-and-I-wash-dishes deal in my home! I put most everything in the dishwasher, but I scrub the pots and pans and steak knives and stuff like that by hand. I'd never heard of a silicone sponge before. Have to check it out!
-
I do hand wash dishes still. I have a dishwasher, but most of the time I'd rather just hand wash a few dishes and get them out of the way! :)
-
Since we want to save on electricity in the winter, my mom would rather as much as she can by hand and run the machine once a week.
-
I'm definitely a dishwasher woman. But I hate how much water it takes.
-
Yes, I wash by hand. I don't know why I just don't put the dishes in the dishwasher.
-
Yes I wash dishes because I don't have a dishwasher.
-
I hate doing dishes, but I do them, I don't have much of a choice.
-
Dishwashing is a chore for me. While I do have a dishwasher. I wash dishes by hand most of the time since I just haven't had the time to put dirty dishes in the dishwasher.
-
I use the dishwasher a lot, especially when we have all the kids over.
My husband does a lot of the cooking so I clear the dishes, put away leftovers and load the dishwasher.
-
I wash dishes by hand.
-
I don't have a dish washer so yes I wash dishes lol
-
Yes, wash by hand if it's only a few and use dishwasher when there's a lot to wash.
-
being single i go out to eat a lot or do them
-
thanks for teh info
-
I wash by hand. We just bought a new home and there is no dishwasher. Honestly though I would probably wash most by hand anyway. We had a dish washer at our last house but I rarely used it. It is just my husband and I so we never have a crazy amount of dishes.
-
I wash dishes, you have to before putting them in the diswasher since it's not a garbage disposal (to quote one mechanic). I use generally use either a Brillo sponge pad or the Scotts scrub pads. (The ones that are yellow on one side and green on the other.)
-
Always use a dishwasher at my place.
-
Some folks think dishwashing is relaxing.
I find it very, very annoying.
I would happily use a dishwasher, if I could afford one.
:rose:
-
Yes, I wash pots and pans and silverware by hand, but use the dishwasher for most everything else. Sometimes, I wonder why I put dishes in the dishwasher at all because I always rinse them so well, they are pretty much clean before I put them in!
-
I do wash the pots and pans that the dishwasher doesn't take, but I consider it probably the most boring chore. I don't know why I find things like laundry less tedious but I do.
-
I wash dishes, sometimes two or three times a day. I also wash dishes at work, but we have a dish washer to help out thank goodness. My hands are a mess from washing dishes al the time.
-
While we have a dishwasher, since it is just me and my father it is easier to wash what we use when we use it, otherwise the item you need would be sitting in the dishwasher waiting foe it to fill to run it.
-
Either I or my mother, who's been staying with us since September/October, washes the dishes. Well, my sister who lives here as well has her own "designated" dishes that she just washes and reuses--smart idea, if you ask me! ;)
-
I have one dish and use mostly paper plates to save water  8)
-
No... but my dishwasher does!
-
I rinse my dishes and let my dishwasher do the hard work ;) its a good system!
-
Sadly i cook and wash the dishes all the time its rare that i don't
-
I do wash dishes, bowls, cups, utensils by hand. Instead of a sponge, I use scouring pads and they work pretty well getting the job done. I also have a special cloth called bamboo cleaning towel made specifically to wash away tough greasy surfaces. I never heard of the silicone sponge. Have you ever used one? If so, does it clean well? ???
-
It is the job that is never complete....Soon as you do a batch, there is a fresh one started.
:rose:
-
Yes, I do the dishes myself. I don't own a dishwasher so there's not a lot of choice. It's not so bad though, keeps the sink from filling with dishes.
-
depends on my mood always use dishwasher if I have guests
-
yes...no dishwasher...except me...i sometimes don't mind handwashing..but it is boring
-
Wash dishes everyday, don't have an automated dish washer.
-
I do dishes by hand, it seems faster to me. And use less water.
-
I do, still was dishes by hand.
-
No dishwasher here except me! Since I live alone I sometimes get lazy and just rinse my dishes really well and pile them for a day or two. Living alone can let you overlook things sometimes.
-
I hate washing dishes by hand, but I usually let the ones I use at night soak in some dish liquid (buy it at the Dollar Tree -- no point in paying more than a dollar for it if you don't have to!). The rest of my dishes I just use the dishwasher for.
-
I just let the dog lick 'em..... ::) :-X ;D
-
It's dishing evening everyone!
-
Yes, most of the time I do dishes but the hubby will help out several times a week. We have a dishwasher but never use it.
-
Yes, we have a dish washer but do not use since it's just the two of us seems like it would be a waste r it would take us at least a week to fill up, so i just washed them and be done.
-
Yes, I do wash dishes. Have never been interested in a dish washer.
-
Well, we have an automatic dishwasher in our apartment, so I try to avoid washing the dishes by hand at all costs! But if the dishwasher is full, I will give in and hand wash, because I can't stand leaving dishes in the sink where I can see them.
-
Yes, but only when I know its beyond messy at home ;) other then that I just rinse.
-
Yeah but only the big items that will not fit in the dishwasher. Have a nice day!
-
Sometimes we use paper plates to avoid washing dishes. Even then, there are still cups to wash.
I've never seen the sponges shown in the picture. Not sure what my sponges are made of - cotton??? ??? ???
I know there is a difference between bathtub/shower sponges used for cleaning your self and the kitchen sponges used for cleaning dishes and the sink itself - don't mix them up! ;)
Sponges and rags are said to harbor lots of bacteria. You are supposed to change the kitchen sponge once a week! Rinsing it well after each use should allow you to replace the sponge less often.
Recently the sponges have been falling apart faster. They must be made more cheaply now. More profit for the already rich sponge companies, assuming that everyone uses 2-4 sponges per month...

RELATED: Do you dry dishes with a towel or let them air dry in a drying rack? We do both. Pots will have stains if left to air dry. "Stainless steel" is a lie - plenty of stains if it isn't wiped dry right away, plus other stains from food and age.
Do you use paper towels for dishes, or cloth towels?
Do you use a microfiber towel to put wet pots and plates down? My mom used to use a rag, which couldn't hold all the water, and was elated when the microfiber towel came into existence. It absorbs much more water, and doesn't even need to be wrung out - just hung up to dry.
Do you enjoy playing with soap bubbles in the sink? Admit it; it was a lot of fun when you were young.
-
Yes. I wash dishes my hand. We have a dishwasher, but we never use it so its a storage space for things we never use.

We have always washed our dishes by hand. It never even has occurred to me to ever use or bye a dishwasher.
-
use dishwasher and still wash some things by hand
-
I and my daughter are the dish washers, no automated here.
-
We just put them on the floor and let the dog lick them clean.
-
I use my dishwasher although I pretty much wash them before I pu them in there

That's because "stainless steel" simply means that it will not rust like 'normal steel'. It has nothing to do with whether it will stain from other external sources.
-
I am right now since the dishwasher is out f commission.
-
yep sure do by hand every day :peace: :star:
-
lol I mostly leave them for my hubby haha

Yes! When I have too!
-
No; my children do.
-
yep everyday. I have a dish washer but I love to stand at the kitchen window and watch the birds eating and playing so I do the dishes :) there is only 2 of us so there isn't that many
-
I prepare many different cleaning tools in my kitchen, which help me handle most washing-up situation easily. Use the right tools for cleaning and save effort! For example, silicone scrubber (https://www.cfone.net/scrubber.html) work great for light washing and this scrubber is antibacterial and dry quickly after using. Kitchen natural sponge can create rich foam and hold soap liquid better. Dishcloth is good for wipe both dishes and counter.
-
I have a dishwasher but I'd rather do the dishes myself.
-
Yes, my husband like to wash dishes by hand he don't trust the dishwasher to get them really clean.
-
No automatic dishwasher here, just my hands.
-
Yep every day of the week.
Cooking and baking a lot more fun when you do not have to do the dishes.
I live alone, ya can't avoid it.
:rose:
-
Yep I hand wash my dishes every day because I am the only one here who will do them. I wish I could have a dish washer
-
I use both
-
I have to use the dishwasher as I am somewhat handicapped by nerve damage in my hands.
-
I would if i had dishes.
-
I normally put my dishes in the dishwasher but occasionally I wash heavy soiled pots and pans by hand. :) :) :) :)
-
I wash my dishes by hand with Dawn with a small cap of clorox , and latex gloves.
-
Yes I wash dishes. I don't mind washing as long as the dishes haven't been piling up all day. I like to wash as I go throughout the day.
-
I sure do. I wash dishes when I feel like it. But if I'm lazy, I'll put it in the dishwasher.
-
Only the dishwasher running here.
-
I do both. Most of our pots and pans, we wash by hand. I put the plates and glasses, bowls, etc through the dishwasher.
-
About half of them
-
We went to hand washing as we were grabbing things out of the dishwasher to use before it could ever get filled to run.
-
I find sometimes that its best to do some by hand and some using the dishwasher.
-
I do not like kitchens.
Too many bio-hazards are accumulated on dishes.
We use disposable plates.
Eat what you want...the rest goes into the trash can!
-
i do not cause when i do i end up having another job moping
