I always do. Even if I am inside in kitchen, which is right beside the door. I have a co-worker who says her doors always stay unlocked, and she has 2 toddlers. I would be scared.
-
Back in the day we use to never locked doors but nowadays they are tripled locked !!
-
Yes we keep our house, garage door and vehicles locked even when we are home.
There hasn't been any break ins in our town, but having a locked door is a deterrent to having someone just walk in.
-
I keep doors locked all the time. The only time they are not locked is in summer when we are in 5he backyard, the back door is open. At night or when we are gone we have the alarm in.
-
I am not used to locking my doors but am trying to become accustomed to it. All you have to do is follow Ocala Scanner and it makes me remember. Never locked the doors when I was a kid
-
yes just makes me feel safer
-
I live in a low-income place with lots of apartments.
I lock it when I am inside, and even stepping thirty feet to dump garbage.
Creepy neighbors, many any way.
I would lock it these days no matter where I lived. Life is getting so crazy.
:rose:
-
Yep always keep doors locked without fail. My sons got me into that habit from living in the country where no one would hear you and our neighbors were far away and couldn't be seen from our house. It pays to be safe even in our area where most would consider low crime.
-
Yeah we do most of the time. I heard many people don't in Europe.
-
We live in the country and we leave our doors unlocked a lot of the time. I have grown children living withe me who work at night and My Husband and I will leave the door unlocked so they can just come in on their on. :)
-
Yes, I do keep the doors and windows of where I live, locked. Doing so is for safety reasons.
-
my house is locked at all times, whether I am home or not, whether I am expecting someone or not, this world is too crazy not to
-
Try to lock up, but I know something is probably not always locked.
-
When I was a child, my parents didn't lock their doors when they were home.
But I keep my house and my car locked all the time. I've had things happen that have made me more vigilant. :'(
:fish:
-
Yes, and I'm amazed that someone would ever leave their house unlocked. Exception: My back yard is fenced on all sides. It should be safe to leave the back door unlocked when I am in the back yard.
Now, about leaving windows unlocked... is that safe? No one is going to climb a vertical wall (or set up a ladder) and break in to the second floor windows, so it should be safe to leave them unlocked and open on hot summer days to ventilate the house while you're away. Unless someone uses a drone to rob you... has anyone tried that yet?
We've all seen the commercial where the apartment windows have been left open during a long vacation, allowing pigeons to fly in and make themselves at home ;) What happened to the screens on those windows?
-
When we were kids the doors were never locked, even at night. We would even leave the door open for more air. All the neighbors did. But now after being broke into a few years ago and some bad things happening any more I keep the doors locked all the time. I may have some windows open except on the porch as they are pretty high up and I think the neighbors would see someone climbing in.
-
All the time, with all things happening around the world now, we need to be always safe.
-
you bet ya!
-
No you want my address and work schedule and safe combination?
-
only when I go out or when I go up to bed.
-
I always lock the up the house but husband thinks that I am just being paranoid. We have a large glass patio door that I guess someone could just break into but I still feel safer with it locked. I do have dogs but you never know what someone could do them if they really wanted to gain entry
-
I do now, I always keep the screen door locked. when I was a child we kept our bikes on the porch no chains. After my bike was taken, we did not anymore. My dad noticed the peoples has changed.
-
We forgot to lock our cellar door along time ago in the summer and then someone came in and stole my mom's purse and some other money we had in a drawer. :angry7:
-
Yes I do for safety.
-
I lock my doors every day, I don't believe in keeping them unlocked, lot of kooky people out there, and having kids especially you keep those doors locked and windows, your friend needs to know that is not safe.
-
Only when no one is home.
-
Yes, I always lock my doors and windows. I keep my vehicle locked too.
-
Yes always. Even though I live in a quiet decent neighborhood I still keep the door locked.
-
Yes, I certainly do lock my house.
-
All the time...even when I'm home...got a shotgun by the bed and a pistol in a pocket on the couch...
-
I feel perfectly safe where I live but always keep y doors locked
-
We always keep every door and window locked by default, don't live in a bad neighborhood or anything but that's just how it is. Why not be safe.
-
I keep my house locked at all times and my car too. I'm from the day when you didn't have to do that but those days are long gone. I won't even let my grandkids play in the front yard without supervision and we do live in a decent neighborhood. The back yard is fenced so they can play out there. Its a crying shame the country has gotten where it is now. And, yes even all my windows stay locked too.
-
Yes. I lock it & dead-bolt it
Only time I leave it unlocked is when I run early in the morning & my family is home. Good thing I live in a safe neighborhood & have motion detector lights, security cameras & a ring door bell.... or that would probably sound like the worst time to leave the house unlocked. I should have one of those door locks like ADT have that are keyless & just numbers.
-
Yes we always do. Even when we are home. You have to be extra cautious now a days.
-
Yes, My family and Myself lock it all the time better safe then sorry lol.
-
oh yes...nowadays it's a lot better to be locked than not....mine stay locked...day or night....
-
We lock our house when we are not home and when we go to bed at night. Those are the only times.
-
Yes, my doors are almost always locked even if I am home. I once lived in an apartment and didn't used to lock the door till a mentally handicapped person just walked in thinking it was her apartment. I started to lock my doors after that happened and have even since I moved into my own home.
-
I feel very safe in this neighborhood, however I still keep my doors locked always. I will share with you what made me keep my door locked all the time. In a different neighborhood myself, husband and young daughter were sitting in the living room watching TV. Our living room door ( left unlocked during the day ) was abruptly opened by a man who rushed in and peeped out the peep hole. My husband said to him, are you sure you are in the right house. We did live in a duplex at the time. The man stated that he was sorry he was running from a dog and that he thought he was in the house next door to us. Very scary.
-
Yes
-
I always lock my doors even when I am in the house. It makes me feel more comfortable. I also lock my car in my driveway.
-
Yes, if you don't lock your house, your asking for trouble.
-
I live in a condo and only 4 units per floor. Most of the time, we leave the door open to get the cross breeze. Only lock the doors when we are out.
-
nope not always,,,, :-X
-
Yes! Always!
-
We always keep the doors locked, if we work in back the front door is locked.
-
always always lock my house! I don't want any armed robbers to come in and kill my family and i
-
If someone is home and awake we leave ours unlocked but if everyone is sleeping or gone they stay locked. We live in a family neighborhood so everyone watches out for each others houses.
-
Yup, always. I live in the downtown area, plus we have idiots in my apartment building that don't always make sure that the main entrance door is closed properly.
-
Yes. I always lock my house... even when I'm home.
-
I always lock up no matter what.
-
Yes definitely even though my town/area is relatively low crime it does have crime and the occasional home invasion. I believe in wisdom and I think it isn't wisdom to leave your doors unlocked and believe no evil will ever befall you.
-
Back in the day we use to never locked doors but nowadays they are tripled locked !!
The good old "Back in the day" I sure miss those times!
-
Of course I do, but if I didn't I sure wouldn't tell the whole Internet about it.

-
Yes. Our door is always locked.
-
None of your business, very offensive QUESTION, not a subject for a forum in today's slimy world of crooks. >:( 8)
-
We only lock the doors at night.
-
Yes!!!! Why on earth would anyone leave their house unlocked??
-
ALWAYS!!! better safe than sorry
-
Yeah we do most of the time. I heard many people don't in Europe.
And that's very funny because in Europe they think it's mainly American that never lock their doors!! And you see it constantly in movies... how people get in unannounced... and killers too!! ;D :silly:
-
I lock both my doors even if I am in the house I'm alone alot and I don't want someone even if I know them to just breeze in and scare the heck outta me
-
I always keep my door locked.
-
We have gotten to the place where we always keep all of our doors closed and locked but we grew up in an environment where we never locked our door.
-
always! never know when a bad seed is gonna pass by....
-
I always lock my doors now when im home when im not you can not trust people entirely anymore
-
Yes, most of the time I lock my doors but not always.
-
I usually always lock my home, especially before bed and while I am not home. On rare occasions I do not like when I expect people to be showing up.
-
Yes. I don't care if I'm home or not, you never know who will want to unexpectedly come in with bad intentions. Luckily, our apartment building has a locked exterior door which makes me feel a little safer. But in all honesty, half the time the thing is propped open with a rug or something for people who are too lazy to bring their key with them when they step out. That is an open invitation for someone to come in and wreak havoc. We haven't had any problems in the time we lived there, so hopefully it stays that way!

I live in on a public street and even though we are in an enclosed neighborhood, the townhouse neighborhood, which is on the other side of the hill (and our main street does not connect to them, they have to walk over the hill to get to us) always parks in front of our houses. It gets worse each year, and with them comes their trash (which they do not hesitate to throw in our front yards or on our streets) and their crime. We've had our cars broken into, a neighbor had his house set on fire (from the outside that faces the townhouses) and our homes broken into. All this starting when they started parking on our street. So yes, not only do I and my neighbors lock our doors, but we started putting up fences if we didn't have them already (our neighborhood is shaped like a T so the corner houses that have yards that face the street didn't have backyard fences but now they do) and locks our gates. I just recently put a lock on my backyard gate (the door that faces the street between my house and my neighbors) because I got tired of finding it 'mysterious opened'. Like I said, all this started when that townhouse neighborhood started claiming our street as theirs. They've even gone so far as to argue with us that they have more of a right to park in front of our own home than we do. With these kind of people in my neighborhood, yes, I make sure ever lock and window is secure whether I am home or not.
-
I was raised to always lock the doors! I still check everything at night, my oldest daughter likes to leave everything open. She doesn't care.
-
Yes.
-
I live in Southern California...it's a must!!! If I didn't lock my door every time I left, I'd get robbed. No doubt about it.
-
I always lock the doors. It’s common sense. Nobody wants intruders or unwanted trouble such as thieves to come inside the home uninvited.
-
I always do it too, because we don't have a gun or camera.
-
I had to start locking my door 24/7 in my apartment after people just randomly started walking into my apartment looking for "Gary". He lived next door and I suspect he is selling drugs out of there. The landlord finally booted him but I still lock my door all the time.
-
Yes we keep locked at all times and put the alarm on at night once in for the night and put the alarm on each time we leave; these days you just cannot take chances.
-
You better believe my doors are locked at all times. I watch a great deal of true crime on the different TV channels and it is surprising how many vicious crimes are ones of opportunity, including trying doors and finding one unlocked. This also includes my car! You are asking for it if you don't lock your door, whether home or not! Also, don't answer your door unless you know the person well and are trustful of their behavior.
-
Sometimes i do, sometimes i don't.But i will keep it lock from now.
-
We never locked our doors at night because we don't live in a city or town, but I started feeling creepy last year and so, we now lock our doors at night. I swore up and down there were footsteps on our porch a couple nights, and there was a stranger who broke down in the front, came to the house to ask hubby and then to try to borrow money from him. Hubby thought he was 'on something." ops came because next door neighbor is a retired state cop, and the stranger threw or dropped something in the weeds when he saw the cops coming. He came back a couple times looking for whatever he dropped and hubby and the neighbor went looking for it, too, after he left, but never found anything. As for windows, we're on 1 floor and they're always locked, even in the summer. Never open them. Too hard to do that. So we now lock up at night.
-
Yep. Pretty OCD about it. I watch too many true crime shows. :x
-
When and where I was grew up, we never locked our doors. In today's world, you would be insane to not lock your doors.
-
No but I should.
-
I live in a pretty safe area- hard to believe in these times they still exist but they do. I'm glad I decided early not to raise my kids in the city.
-
now days yes,,, most of the time. unless I am just going for a short walk or somethng. if I'm going to be gone for a long time I always lock the front door and back door
-
There is a place where stupid questions get a retort on how stupid really isn't stupid. I do, but if you don't I'll find another reason to call you stupid.
