Title: New Car
Post by: debidoo on February 23, 2018, 07:26:46 am
well I just bought a new car.  Didn't want to my 2003 Taurus was still ok with me but I had recently had 3K work done and then yesterday was told I had to do another $2400 and it had some really bad stuff wrong with it.  I figured hey I am 64 and this will probably be my last hurrah so I did it.  I really like it.  Do you have a new car?  Old car?  Hey I see people waiting on the bus so I figure any car is a blessing !

Wondering if you bought a "new" car or it's a used car that is new to you?   What did you buy?

We tend to purchase used cars.  The one we have now is in great shape and hopefully will remain that way at least, and hopefully beyond, the point where we have it paid off.

Congrats, new or used, it's a good thing to get a car.   Hope it serves you well.

My last two cars were purchased new. My current one I didn't especially want to buy, but my last car was totaled in a hail storm. Having a car payment again was horrible (I just paid it off a few weeks ago), but I really wanted the extended warranty. That's security I can't really get buying used.

We had a tree fall on my husband's pickup truck a few months ago, and it was a total loss.  He has been shopping for the perfect replacement all this time.  He found a used one that he wanted, and was going to go look at it, but it was several hundred miles away, and we had a big snow storm and some other conflicts that kept him from getting there before it was sold.  Now he is considering buying a new one.  Luckily, we were able to borrow our daughter's truck while he was shopping.

I have only had one  new car in my life time, and I drove it almost 3000 miles and the dang thing went out on me, was stranded 200 miles from home, had to  call a tow truck to take it home. Boy was that a shocker. Then when I got it to the  dealer they didn't really want to deal with me. , of course they  did not know me from Adam. This little gal got on the phone and called the manufacture , it was under full warranty,  Told them what happened. They in turn called the dealer and told them to take care of the problem, in fact they replaced the motor as it would cost more to repair them put the new one in, then they then had to ship the old motor back to the  manufacture. Took them  almost 4 weeks before  having it ready, I also  received a nice rental to drive while all of this was going on.

That's good news that you were able to purchase a  new car for you. I find that having my car in the shop that I feel like strange, like I'm unable to do anything. When I do have my car it can stay parked at home most of the day and I feel fine. I've got an older model car, but it runs well still!!!!!!

I just bought a new car last year. My previous car was bought used, and I loved it, but I was happy to finally be able to get a new one.

I bought a used Nissan Frontier in 2004 with only 6,000 miles on it. It had a high pitched whine in 5th gear, but the dealer replaced the transmission under warranty and now it has 85,000 miles but still runs fine. Then we bought a new Nissan Versa in 2011 and it only has 50,000 on it.

So I guess my theory is if it ain't broke, don't fix it (or buy a new one).

I will probably break down before my old truck does. I have already been in the shop more than it has.

I'll probably never buy new again....lose to much on depreciation...paid $20,000 for my F150 XL back in '05...now worth about $8,500 in this area due to age and rust belt area...less if I hadn't kept the miles down and keep it up the way I do.

Next time it'll be 2-3 yrs old....let the 1st owner eat the depreciation.... :turkey:

Congratulations on your new car.  Sometimes the old car starts costing too much for repairs and maintenance...then time for a replacement.  I drive a used car and love it.

Me and my husband just turned in our 2015 Chevy Cruze for a 2018 Chevy Equinox. We love the new car! It has many features which we like and we got a great deal on it. Would definitely recommend both the vehicle and the dealership!
