Your parents let you sit in the front seat? My mother would not let me sit in the front seat of her car until I was practically old enough to drive. I remember going places with her and I'd be embarrassed that the neighborhood kids would see me in the back seat when I was about 13 I would duck down so no one would see me until we were out of the neighborhood.
My father on the other hand didn't care so I'd always sit in the front when I drove with him.
-
It would have to be when I was very young. I cannot remember this being an issue.
-
We didn't have the weight/height guidelines for riding in the front seat like they do now. If it was just mom and me or dad and me, I rode in the front seat.
-
I grew up in the 60's....we just rolled around in the car and rode in the back of pickup trucks.... ;)
-
I have a couple of sisters so we all sat in the back and my parents up front. If we went somewhere with just one parent then whomever "called it" got to sit up front. :silly: :silly: :silly:
-
I got to sit in the front seat as long as I can remember if there wasn't two adults in the car
-
I would only ride in the front seat if her and me went somewhere, I had 5 other siblings.
-
I didn't want to sit in the front seat for a long time actually, so it was more of a choice. I could stretch out in the back seat and liked that a lot more. I would tease my parents about being my chauffeurs.
-
I honestly can't remember when I started sitting in the front seat but I would have to imagine I was a teenager, maybe 13 yrs old. My 11 year old still sits in the back by his choice..lol
-
I don't remember. When I was a kid it wasn't an issue.
-
I grew up when you were able to sit anywhere you wanted to
-
My kids seemed their feelings were hurt if one wasn't in the front seat, not like now-a-day. Then I got the van where it was fun and safe in the back seat so I didn't have that problem.
My parents, if nobody was seating at the front seat than I was able to because dad said I got to get tough for life, they knew the back seat was the safest back-in-then-days too.
-
Oh, I was born in the 70's, so there were times when we were on long road trips and I would have to sit in between my parents (in our Oldsmobile with bench seats). Three kids, only one car seat between all of us. And it was vinyl/metal, lol.
-
I grew up in a time where there were no rules and regulations about where children sat in a car. We didn't even have seat belts, and piling into the back of a pickup truck was the best way to haul a bunch of kids to their favorite activity. I do understand why safety should prevail, but I don't personally know of any peers who came to harm from having less stringent safety rules.
-
I think I was around 10. I was a pretty big kid, so it wasn't a huge issue
-
I'm too old to remember having to sit in the back seat - except when both my parents were in the front :sad1:
-
don't remember but know we had no seat belts. now its just automatic you put them on.

Same here, we went to Calif. when i was little maybe 5 and we had a station wagon with NO air i rode in the back with the dog and suitcases... i remember very well coz i got yelled at for getting orange juice all over and it was sticky and i was covered with dog hair and sand. I was not a happy camper ! >:( >:(

My first thought was that it's crazy that you even remember. But if you were that old then its understandable that you do remember. Seems insane to me that she waited that long. I can't even remember ever sitting in the back seat.
-
Going to movies, visiting friends and much more...
with so many kids in the car, I always sat in the back seat.
I sat for the first time in the driver's seat when I was 12
years old, to learn the dashboard-what to do and not do.
I was an early learner.
-
I was at least 6 or 7, I believe, when I first rode in the first seat.
-
Growing up in the 60's and 70's it was not an issue, so we sat wherever there was a seat available.
-
I didn't sit in the front til I was maybe 17! I was old enough to drive myself! I didn't mind tho, I really didn't care haha
-
:rose: :rainbow: :rose: I'm unsure at what age I was to be able to ride in the front seat, cause as long as I can remember I was able to ride in the front seat. Maybe when I got out of the car seat's. Which I was supper young! :rose: :rainbow: :rose:

I grew up during the same time. No seat belts, no baby car seats, no rules about where we could or could not sit. I am one of 7 kids. 5 in the back....4 sat on the seat, my brother stood on "the hump" , and the youngest 2 were up in front with Mom and Dad.
-
it was lot of us so we didn't actually took turns to sit in the front seat.
-
I don't think it was ever a thing when I was growing up. Being 1 of 5 kids it was just a matter of the seat being available. And since there was such a gap in age between my siblings and I it was rare that it was ever an issue. With my kids I've been lenient on the issue. Probably not a good thing. Once the kids met 80#'s or 8 years old I was flexible with it...the older and heavier they got the more flexible I became.
-
I cannot remember if I ever rode in the front seat, because it was five of us.
-
Oh my goodness. I grew up in the 80's and 90's and my parents had an old station wagon where the entire family piled in the car. We didn't have car seats, not really so in my earlier childhood memories I sat up front. I was always strapped in the 'shotgun' passenger seat up front while my brothers were in the back seated in the laps of my grandparents.
-
Pretty much as soon as I was out of a car seat. Of course I'm in my mid 40s so my parents weren't as worried about things like that lol.
-
When I was a kid you could sit wherever, and you didn't have to wear seat belts. My mom never made us. I remember my 2 and 4 year old brothers jumping up and down on the back seat while she was driving around. I shudder to think.
-
I thought this was going to ask, How old were you when you were born?
-
Well as kids my brother and I rode in the back of the pickup and little sister rode up front with mom and dad. That is when went to the grand's, 97 miles away. we didn't mind better yet we didn't care as she always got at sick and wouldn't mind me. But once we got there and I had turned 7 I would drive the old ranch pickup as it would idle along and grandpa would throw feed out to the cattle and by the time I was 14 I drove the old grain truck while my uncle was combing the wheat and then I would drive it to down to dump at the train depot. Also got my drivers license 4 days before I turned 15. Back in those days farm kids got them early. we had too a drivers course in school. I am proud to say I am almost 75 and never have had a ticket.
-
I can't remember!
-
I think I was around 10.

Those were the good old days :)

I was an only child. I guess I got to sit in the front whenever mom and dad were not both in the car at the same time.
I grew up without seat belts too. And I rode in the back of a truck when we visited my aunt in the country, but I always got bugs in my eyes. Why did I enjoy it so much? :confused1:
:fish:
-
My dad always let us sit in the front seat. With my mom I think I was like 9.
-
0_0 Idk ahha I guess it would depend on whether or not my mom was in car lol
-
I don't think we had a restriction when I was young. I remember sitting in the front seat whenever I was out alone with my Dad. My Mom didn't learn to drive until years later.
-
I rode in front since I was 5 or 6 didnt have car seats or airbags when I was younger.

Reminds me of how you can always spot a happy motorcycle rider . . .
by the bugs in his teeth!
-
I have absolutely no idea
-
We sat where we wanted in the car with no seat belt. We also rode in back of trucks. I miss those days
-
My mother didn't drive until I was almost 13 so I never got to sit in the front seat before that.
-
I rode in the front when it was just Dad. Mom made me sit in back. We didn't wear seat belts either.
-
I sat in the back a lot, but that's mostly because I had an older sister who got to sit up front. I was just outside of the weight height thing when it went into affect, so I didn't have to deal with that, but my parents didn't care if we sat up front or in back unless there was a specific reason (picking up relative for example).
-
I don't remember anyone making an issue of it when I was small, except for my grandma because her car had air bags in it. Not sure if everyone else's cars didn't or if they just weren't sticklers.
-
i just had to fight my brothers for it
-
Maybe 10?
-
I think I was probable 8 or 9 years old when I was able to ride in the front seat. My son is 12 now and I let him start riding in the front seat when he turned 11.
-
I think I was between the ages of 8 - 10 when I was permitted to sit in the front seat.
-
I think I was about 13 when my parents staring allowing this, but it wasn't always a privilege I got because I had an older brother who would get first dibs.
-
Things were very different when I was growing up. We did not own a vehicle so I never got a choice of where I would sit.
-
oh wow... you know I don't remember that at all?? When my first time was?!... I guess I must have been 13 or 14...? hmm...
-
Gosh, in the 50's and 60's I don't ever recall sitting in the back seat unless both my parents were in the front.
-
I don't recall what age I was when I got to sit in the front. I was #3 out of six siblings. I just recall every time a sibling left the home, the kid behind the one who left home got the front seat.
-
I was always allowed to sit in the front seat as soon as I was able to sit by myself. I may be giving away my age here.
-
I was in the front seat when I was really little, but seatbelts and car seats weren't a requirement back then.
-
Whenever both parents were in our car, all 4 of us kids were always in the back seat. But I don't remember ever having been kicked out of the front seat if my Dad was driving and Mom wasn't coming along for whatever reason. If I had small children now, though, I would certainly keep them in the back as it is much safer there.
-
i was the oldest of 5...so i got to ride in the front while the orthers stayed in the back...i only rode in the back when both of my parents were in the car...but that was back in the 60-70's
-
Usually the whole family went out together so mom had the front seat and us 3 kids had the back!
-
As a child with only one much older sister who was out of the house by the time I was 4 years, I used to ride in the front seat with my father whenever my mother chose not to accompany him somewhere. This was about one third of the time so I was in the front seat a fair amount.
-
When i was a kid it was not an issue.
-
i was always aloud to sit in front seat,,, ;D
-
Never got to sit in the front seat until I started to drive. My mom did not drive so anywhere we went her and dad were always in the front seat and myself and 2 sisters were in the back
-
I think it was until I was in middle school so around 12-13 years old around there.
-
Couldn't tell you,my most memorable childhood experiences involved pain and hospital trips( I was 6 when I thrown into the windshield of a car and still have the massively jagged elbow scar, was 7 when I ran out of the barbershop holding a juice bottle, tripped and scarred mt left knee,8 I sliced open my calf with an exacto knife and sprayed painted the room red,and 9 when a bag of RC cola bottles that I was carrying broke open and I fell on them and scarred my other knee) Those are real memories.
-
That was never an issue in my family. I have a big family, so you would be glad to get a seat period!!
