Title: Oh NO! Phone CALLS!
Post by: cmsaintb on September 28, 2009, 07:10:31 pm
I'm fairly new here, and I would like to know if any of you get phone calls from any of the sponsors???? I can deal with the e-mails and even if they send me mail as I can do with that as I please, but I really, really hate the phone calls!!!! I don't think I want to do this if I'm going to get called all the time now... Is this what's going to happen? Any way I can reverse it? HEEEELP!  :BangHead:

I have not gotten phone calls from the offerers, however some of the offers require you to click one or two silver/gold or platinum offers to complete the offer and if you click an insurance quote or something similar, they will call. What I do is have them call the home phone that is routed through the computer and acts as an answering machine so I never have to be bothered

I have not been called by anyone.  I do not think this information is shared unless you chose to share it.
On the "Account Page" - underneath who you were referred by it should say something like this :
Click here if you want to give this person your email address, so they can contact you.

As for the offers, I am not too sure.  I know that some may call, and that is a concern for me also.  My husband and I own a Landscaping
business that I need to answer all the time.  I do not want to be bothered with nonsense calls all the time.  So I am curious to see the
answers from the rest of the group!!

ever since i started back up on this site and input my info that they ask when doing an offer for credit (name, address, phone number) I constantly get phone calls from these offers selling our numbers to places.

The reason I asked is because I only started two days ago, and have already started getting those annoying phone calls, which makes me think twice about this... Some would say it is a small price to pay, but I'm not so sure is worth my 15 cents and so forth... I have my phone registered with the donotcall.org registry, but I guess that it doesn't quite work perfectly. Maybe others have had better luck than I am already having...  :dontknow:

I only WISH I got more calls, these telemarketers are prime referral prospects. They all have dead end jobs working for minimum wage and live in the USA, what more could you ask for? If getting called bugs you, get a Magic Jack just for Internet use and turn the ringer off so everything goes to voice mail.

hahah! only oldbuddy would think about recruiting
telemarketers  ;D  good thinking.

i only have a cell phone, so any number that's not
blocked is stored in my "recent calls" ... and if its a
recording or telemarketer or something annoying,
i save them in my address book as CRAP.

so, when crap calls at 8 in the morning, i know good
and well to hit the ignore button.

I shy away from giving out my phone number, too... E-mails I can delete, mail I can trash, but don't call and harass me.

I have only gotten calls from doing the auto insurance offer. I think there was another one that I just needed to verify the number and that was it. I don't even get that much real mail. E-mails is a different story.

If you guys all had even a clue how easy the conversion is, you would ALL be begging for more calls. All I do is wait for a break in the conversation and ask them point blank, "Are they really paying you enough to say all that?". If you want a raise without even having to ask your boss, go look at @@@@@.com (can't give out links here). If you need help setting up a website, contact me somehow. I am not hard to find and it can be done first class for $1 a month with no ads or free hosting to deal with. Or you can just sit there and watch the numbers on my banner keep spinning.

I have received a couple of calls, but i usually just let my calls go to voice mail. If they keep calling i just block the number which is very easy to do on my Cell phone. It's usually just someone trying to sell something.

I hate when telemarketers call, BUT I have found out a couple of months ago if you start singing to them while they talk, they hang up. HAHA I think it is hilarious and I get to practice on my hmmm singing skills ::)

i get 4 or 5 calls a day! if they come in the morning i don't really care because i'm just on here or playing with my daughter. but i hate when they call in the evenings and i'm helping my son with homework, trying to make dinner or trying to eat dinner. the worst part is the one's that call and take forever to tell you who they are or where they're calling from. i've often wondered if they make more for keeping us on the phone longer. i won't be rude if you just say i'm so and so calling from here to offer this, because then i can quickly say sorry not interested. but when they drag it out asking how you are and other trivial questions, you can be certain they're going to get an unpleasant and sometimes loud response. that's the one downside from doing these surveys and offers!

I haven't gotten any calls except from Credit Report.com.  I asked to be removed from their list and they haven't called back since.  They were calling several times a day and left no message.  Very annoying!

The only phone calls that I got were when I signed up for offers that involved auto insurance and life insurance - from what I can see here and from other sites that I participate in - it seems like insurance are the only offers that ever produce phone calls.  VJ

I have yet to receive any phone calls. I'm expecting some to be realistic, but hoping they stay minimal and are fairly reasonable with removing me from the list. I've had very few experiences where a simple "Please remove me from your list," failed to stop the calls.

$5 Sign-Up Bonus maybe? Or a credit card one.

Anyway, I used to be one of those dreaded telemarketers. You don't get a raise to keep them on the phone longer, but you do get fired if you do not get enough sales/leads. Normally when a telemarketer is talking for a long time, it's because they train you to keep explaining your service until they buy it.

Also, MOST telemarketers get fired or deducted pay if they hang up before you do. So, feel free to keep talking about absolute non-sense for your laugh of the day.

I got another one today, a call about free health information for senior citizens. I listened for a while going uh huh, uh huh, then when she had to stop for a breath I said, let me save us both some time. I have Kaiser and have all those things you mentioned included, so since I pay them every month I use them and don't need more. But I can tell from your voice that you must be desperate to earn money or you wouldn't take this job and get people cussing you out for calling or slamming the receiver in your ear, right? She said, yeah I guess that's true, but I really do need the money. Then I told her look, don't make any advance judgements, but you have the Internet at home don't you? She said yes and I told her look at xxxxxx.com and just watch the video at the bottom, it's only a few minutes and what I show you will NOT cost you a penny, it will just start putting money in your pocket from day one. As you get more success, you will be able to share it with others and it will start exploding your income. With your experience talking to people, you would be a natural. Like I said, don't pre-judge this, just spend five minutes and see if it fits, then another 5 minutes a day can turn your life around, just watch. Fair enough?

I don't know if she will actually sign up and I don't really care. What she did do was give me a chance to practice my spontaneous transition skills. Every situation is different and you need to practice thinking on your feet and shooting from the hip.

Now go get some easy referrals.

Companies don't make calls, only people do. Most of the people who call are desperate for money or they wouldn't have the job they do. That makes them perfect candidates for Fusioncash.

I had to do this job when I was younger, and they are people that are paying bills, making a living, they do not make a lot of money, and their are generally children, so the next time one calls you pray for the caller, that they find a better way to make ends meet. The only thing that riles me up is a bill collector, I am not talking abut the ones that are nice over the phone, I get frustrated at the mean ones, like the other day, I explained to many differet
I had just gotten out of hospital had surgery on shoulder and leg and other foot ribs were still broken, etc. I explained to this woman that I am on leave from work, med. but do you think she understood?"

You can always sign up for Google Voice and get rid of the telemarketers that way.

BTW - Old Buddy, very effective form of marketing that you use. Due to TOS infringement I can not disclose where I saw your picture and postings, but you sure did crate some waves on the net about another GPT site. (I am sure that you know what I am talking about.)

I find it funny that you discuss that you do not approve of GPT website users due to the fact that they are scamming the companies... This is a directly copied from your posting.
From the post: XXXXXXXXX and XXXXXXXX XXXXXXX are SCAMS!

"I'm sure they're not the only ones either, just the most popular. If you think about what they do it should be obvious to anyone who takes part in the rip off.

Oh I'm not saying they cheat the people who join, of course they wouldn't do that! The scam is perpetrated against the poor advertiser that is offering a nice bonus for people to try their product or service. These are honest businessmen and women who are just trying to make an honest buck and are willing to give in order to receive."

I just thought I would mention it since you were saying how horrible people like us are and then I find you here posting away with over $1,200 made on the exact same type of site that you "despise".

I'm guessing you mean myLot and I haven't been on there for YEARS, but they still have my material drawing traffic that I can no longer update or change. I think I also remember the two programs you mentioned and Fusioncash is not like them at all. Not only do things change online, but it's easy to get out of context.

I got quite a few in 3 days by the same company, till I asked them to stop calling

Nope she said she would keep on calling, even though I explained how hard it was to get to the phone. these people should not be able to talk like this.

I got millions of phone calls after I verified my number, and I'd never gotten any telemarketing calls before. I was even getting them at 4 in the morning sometimes. I just put my phone on silent when I was asleep, when they called, I asked them not to call me again, and when they kept calling, I prank called them about five million times. Most importantly, I put my number on the DO NOT CALL list. It makes it illegal for these telemarketers to call you. After about a month of being on the list, you won't be getting calls anymore.

There are also web sites you can submit your number to and it really does help to reduce the calls.

Don't use your number in offers either, unless you want the calls. There are online services that you may use for offers to receive calls.

I read through this thread again today and it amazes me how you can wave an answer right in front of some people and they ignore it. I have stated many times that I do NOT do offers that rip off advertisers here, I make my money mostly from getting referrals and the offers I do complete are ones I actually want to try. The websites mentioned in that OLD post you referred to are still ripping off advertisers and still on my avoid list. Fusioncash TEACHES us NOT to do offers we are not interested in and that's why I am here. After 10 years online, I'm sure you can dig up something I posted that was a lot worse that this. You also might notice that $1,200 has gone up a little more.

You do not get calls from the offers. If your getting any calls it's probably from posting ads on craigslist. If you post your number on there you will get tons of automated calls, which can sometimes also work out fine, because you have have them call you back and show them what really works, instead of some mlm crap they are pushing that having to pay monthly for and not making money fast enough to cover there monthly fees, and monthly advertising! You can show them fusion cash and say I'd rather make free money instead and actually have people glad to sign up and stay with the site and not have to worry about high attrition rates because of not having any monthly fees to deal with and not have to worry about my down lines not doing there jobs.

Also, I found out, when they call, tell them that they are being recorded.. ask them for the time, and then tell them that it is an unconvinient time to call you. If they call you at that time again, you will file a lawsuit.  This was on the news. Once you tell them that, they can be sued if they call you .

i only have a cell phone, so any number that's not
blocked is stored in my "recent calls" ... and if its a
recording or telemarketer or something annoying,
i save them in my address book as CRAP.

so, when crap calls at 8 in the morning, i know good
and well to hit the ignore button.

I think one phone call was received, but I immediately told her I wasn't interested.  I have a prepaid phone, so I don't want to waste my minutes on stupid stuff like that.  She's like, well we don't need any credit card information.  I told her I didn't care and to take me off their phone list.  You have to be firm and to the point.  Or you could just hang up, but telling them to take you off the phone list would be more effective.

I started getting lots of calls from educational institutions, who, as soon as I said I wasn't interested (don't remember asking, must have made a mistake and accidently signed up) they just hang up. It wouldn't be a problem if I didn't have to pay for the calls. I recently got screwed by a phone company and am super sensitive with any calls now. No idea why these middle man companies waste cash calling people when email is a lot easier. Unless they find people find it difficult to say no on the phone and easy to delete an email.

Even before i did fc i used to get phone calls it seems like anytime or anything u do on the internet or even just filling out any kind of registration for anything somehow telemarketers get your no.  But at least with fc you make some money along with it.  Get caller id you don't have to answer or you can turn the ringer down or off.

I've been using sites like FC for years now and I know a good bit about this. I used to get calls from offers but no longer do 'cause I handle it the smart way.....

1) Listen to their whole "buy-this-blah-blah" thing
2) When they finally shutup say "Are you aware that I am on the do-not-call list?"
3) 99% of the time the response will be an apology from them
4) Before they hang up say "Wait, stay on the line for a minute"
5) IF they stayed on say something along the lines of-

"Are you aware that you, an individual telemarketer calling me, and your company, can be taken to federal court for calling someone placed on the do-not-call list?  Furthermore, I would like to point out that calls about this same [WHATEVER THEY'RE TRYING TO BOTHER YOU WITH] every day for the past week.  I would like you to make sure that everyone knows not to call me anymore and that I do not respond to telephone solicitations."

Think half of ^^^ is  :bs:?  You're right, some is, but if you point out that you have been called multiple times by them (even if you haven't) they will get the message.

Often when you do offers when you submit your info (address, phone #, etc.) it will say in the small print "By Clicking This You Agree To Our Terms and Conditions".  Then you read the Terms and Conditions and it'll say "By submitting your information you acknowledge that you may be contacted by us or some of our sponsors through email, physical mail, or by telephone".

i'm sure this has probably been said somewhere in the 8 pages of this thread, but if you don't want phone calls it's simple. just use an online voice mail number from k7.net
now when you get phone calls it'll just go straight to your email address instead.

i know a plethora of phone calls can be discouraging, and sometimes it'll drive someone to complete and utter madness. but this is the best way to avoid such a thing.

@kimber62372 - You can call ANYONE in USA/Canada for only $19.95...this is a VOIP based telephone, recommended NOT to use with a security alarm, etc.  You can plug your existing landline telephone into the standard telephone port on the magicjack device.  I have a 5 way splitter for 1 cordless, 1 office phone, 1 old corded phone, a fax, and an answering machine.

I have also been called by sponsors also!   They will try to sell you anything and everything!   If your phone number is on the "DO NOT CALL LIST"...(goggle it for the website) they are not suppose to be able to call you!

I HEARD MAGIC JACKS DONT WORK
I heard that we did not auctually go to the moon too. However, I have had a Majic Jack for over 2 years and it works GREAT. There was a couple of small problems along the way, BUT went to their website and did what I was suposed to do and they were all fixed.

I bought the Majic Jack for $20.00 and a year's service for another $20.00. My second year of service was on $20.00 for ALL the local and Long Distance calls I want to make in the USA OR Canada to any phone number there. IF I go out of the country, I can hook my Majic Jack into my lap top and call anyone in the USA OR Canada who has a Majic Jack. PLUS you get FREE Voice Mail, Call Waiting and caller ID. Heck Voice Mail for $20.00 a year is GREAT by itself.

When giving your phone number in conjunction with completing many of these free offers you are giving the advertisers permission to call you.  If your name is on the no call list, it does not matter you will still get phone calls, because you are asking/giving them permission to call you by providing your contact info.  Many times this is indicated in the disclaimer.

I signed up for an insurance thing and luckily only received calls for a few days KNOCK ON WOOD.  What I thought was odd is one person even called me on a Sunday and from a cell phone (could tell by the prefix).  I'm on the no call list too so that was the last time I'm doing an offer with my cell#

That's weird. I've never got any phone calls. It must just be certain advertisers doing it more than others.

HEEEELP!  :BangHead:

@cmsaintb - I received 8 telephone calls in the last 20 minutes from telemarketers from the SAME company...but different toll free number...they kept asking for me and I said to remove the number from the list and it's a pain in the neck.  I asked how they got the number and all they could say was "it came up on my screen."  I asked to be removed from the junky phone calls and they said it'll take up to 1 YEAR, yes 1 YEAR to be removed...SCAM and SPAM!  :bs:

these telemarketers are prime referral prospects. They all have dead end jobs working for minimum wage and live in the USA, what more could you ask for? If getting called bugs you, get a Magic Jack just for Internet use and turn the ringer off so everything goes to voice mail.

I used the suggestion to set up a free phone line. i used whistle and it works great. Just download the phone and then when a call comes in you can just ignore it. The caller has to listen to music for a few minutes and then it finally says they cant connect you. or if you want you can answer it. But who wants that  ;D

That is really good idea! people with important information will eventually leave messages in voice mail if they really want to connect you. telephone marketers don't usually leave any messages

I use my cell # only because its a tracphone and I only use it for emergencies or when I travel which isnt very often. Though I havent gotten any calls yet...if I do itll go to voice mail..
