Been there, done that...worked the same place for 15 yrs and they shut down and moved.
I've quit like 6 jobs in the last 5 yrs....tired of snotty bosses...must be getting old and cranky.
The job I was at for 15 yrs treated me like crap but made decent money...lots of OT (whether you wanted it or not) and was only 2 miles from home.
There are jobs out there...not the best but better than nothing....good luck to ya...

Good luck.

Good luck. I hope you found something better. What are you going to do?
I quit a job in '88 to become self-employed. My husband still reminds me it was the best place I ever worked. The boss gave US gifts for Christmas and the Christmas party meals were lobster and steak. i loved the job I did, too. Free health care, profit sharing, etc. I just got bored doing the same thing day after day (inventory control). I did go back to help set up a new inventory control program and they offered me a job, but not in IC. It was in accounting. I took it because it was a $2 raise with a raise every year BUT they just kept piling more jobs on me, like taking care of the taxes, trucking end of it, etc. I was under such stress but stayed. I was waiting for the IC job to open because I heard the girl I trained was going to leave soon. She had told me she would only stay for 2 years. Finally, one day I overhead two of the girls really cut me down (backstabbing was a problem there) and i flipped out, went into the supervisor's office and gave notice. They sold out to a rubber/plastic manufacturer about 10 years ago and I knew it would be the end of the company, which was so sad. It was the stress that made me make that rash decision. I did regret it but my blood pressure went back to normal.

Good luck and I hope you find something soon!

Good luck to you finding a new job. I used to stay in jobs where I was treated like crap because I wanted to build toward my retirement and had to support my kids.
-
I have quit working for 5 years and tried to just enjoy life. But the economy today is so hard to do with living cost
-
Good luck on finding the next job...
-
Good luck to you! I recently changed jobs and I am still looking for something better. You'll be okay... the job you really want will show itself soon

Try to find something that you really want to do. Good luck.

I wish you all the best in your job search. I will keep you in my prayers.

Remember the old country song "Take this job and shove it."
-
Good luck. I've worked for the same company for about 10 years. Not leaving unless they fire me. Frankly, I don't think I'd be able to get another job if push came to shove. Jobs are very hard to come by these days.

I don't work I need a job
-
Well, you didn't state what circumstances led to it and that is your business. However, there must have been things going on that drove you to it. Hopefully, if you are in need of another one badly, it will come along soon. Remember, if you really need work, take something...anything...and you can always keep applying. If you need to pay rent, something is way better than nothing! Don't wait until unemployment is running out. I know several people who did that and it did not go well.

hope you have found one

Good luck. I hope you find something better to do. I unfortunately am stuck at my job for the indefinite future because I'm not going to get paid better anywhere else, no matter how much I hate it. LOL

I hope you find another job soon.

Love to quit job and start retirement
-
Just an update for those who actually have an interest in my status. :-\ I never got another job, so I call myself retired now. I allowed my ex-husband to move in with me and with both our Social Security and my pension I think we'll make it okay.
Yes, I'm crazy. I admit that. I always have been. But it's working out okay and will stay that way as long as we can handle our two strong wills and butting heads constantly.
I just sold my house and our kids are trying to move us out of Illinois since all the governors go to prison and such. :( Plus this state just keeps on raising our taxes. :o
Hopefully, I'll keep up with Fusion Cash. I would so miss posting on the forum, you know. :in-love:

Doing so without backup job is too risky for me, hope you are okay..
-
hope you have a plan... should be easy finding replacement now that the economy is kicking in high gear.... best of luck!
-
linderlizzie, I assume your kids don't live in Illinois so moving would be a move to be closer to them? Perhaps there will be a job, or part-time job wherever you move to.
I hope your arrangement of sharing house/expenses with your Ex works out for you both.

never quit a job unless you have another one lined up

I sometimes wish I could quit my current job. I do not get paid nearly enough. However, with mounting student loans, other bills, and a parent to take care of, I have to simply deal with it until a more lucrative job offer comes along. Good luck to the OP, BTW.

Hope that you have another one since you last posted.

Lost my job about a month ago, they say I quit, I say they fired me. Applied for unemployment benefits but it's looking like I won't get it. Luckily I have some money saved up and I make money through other ways, online, and I live with my sister and don't have to pay much for expenses. I have started to look for another job, but this town doesn't have much. I don't want to continue living here, but I just about have to for the time being. I'm only a couple years away from retirement age, so trying to hang in there until that happens, then hope to move to another state closer to one of my children also. I have 4 kids, 2 live in this state (MT), 1 in Iowa and 1 in NY. So kind of hard to go somewhere where I'd be closer to all of them. I hope all is working out for you linderlizzie, I've been in worse situations and somehow have managed to muddle through it so in a way I see this as a new beginning and am somewhat grateful, as my job wasn't anything special and didn't pay worth a darn.

well if ya figured out how to make the big -bucks from home - then you're all set! Rock On! :rainbow:

Place your resume on job recruiting sites like Indeed and Ziprecruiter. They email you potential ones weekly or daily, your preference. Best wishes for finding one soon :rose:

I somewhat disagree nannycoe. Sometimes you have to take the risk to save your sanity. Although I have to admit, if I didn't have family, I'd most likely be on the streets right now. I have money, but my town has very little for housing. So if I was not living with my sister, I'd most likely not be in this crap town anymore.

Good Luck. Done that. it will feel weird for a while. But soon will be excited for the new job, new environment, new people.

Hello! :D :)
I hope it continues to work out for you and you don't regret your decision in the long run. Just don't take everything by chance have a play B and maybe a plan C. Things can happen always be prepared when they do. :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:

Good luck to you! I know quitting your job must feel liberating, I can't wait until I'm able to do the same thing

Still homeless as I haven't found a house I like and can also afford, but now living in a friend's house while they're living elsewhere.
If anyone has any suggestions, I think moving to Missouri might be optimal, but not sure where. :-\
