So many people miss appointments because they are afraid the doctor may say something they don't want to hear.

So far I have had good checkups and I have been faithful about getting my annual physical.
I am due for my colonoscopy......yuk!
-
Yes I do.
-
Not really unless I've been sick for a few days.
-
I am a senior with many health ailments. Yes, I go to the doctor every 4 months which i am not happy with but have to see the doctor regularly.
-
Yes, and if my mother didn't, they never would have caught her bladder cancer, gall stones or kidney cysts. If my sister-in-law didn't go regularly they never would have found her breast cancer. So yes, it does save lives because you never know what can develop within the course of a year and going when something isn't right in your body may be too late.
-
Even though I don't like going to the doctor I do go for a regular check ups. I had an appointment a couple of days ago and it wasn't what I hope to hear but is it something I can fix. :rainbow: :rose: :peace:
-
yes go every 6 months unless need to see him for medical problem.
-
I just started going back to the doctor.
-
I have an annual check up for my insurance so might used it as well.
-
I don't go to the doctor unless something is wrong, and even then I'm reluctant. Almost every time I've gone to a doctor without already knowing what the problem is, most of the time they just write down what I say, shrug, and send me a bill.
-
YES - but I am 74 so my Dr. is very important to me. :)
-
Not as much as I should... it seems I put myself off & focus more on getting my family to all their appointments. I really need to prioritize my own appointments a little more, I could definitely improve on that aspect of my life.
I start tomorrow!
-
I have a chronic illness so have to go every 4 months also usally so so news but at least it gets done lol
-
No I don't, because I don't value the opinion of the normal type doctors that you are referring to. I would like to do a yearly checkup where I am in charge of what we are checking for and it is my decision as to how we address any issues.
-

MOST people do not do regular checkups because they do not have $300 to $400 to throw away. Or they feel healthy so again, it would be a waste of money.

I don't either. And I swear every time I go they push pills on me. They are worse than a drug dealer on the street corner. It is the same questions. Well how to you sleep. I have learned to say awesomely great. Because if I don't think are pushing pills on me for sleeping. Heck, last time he even wrote a script for sleeping pills that I didn't even know he wrote. I found out when I went to pick up the antibiotic that he prescribed because I was sick. And she asked about the other one and I was dumbfounded. What are you talking about? I told her he didn't even tell me he wrote that.
-
I do go to all my doctor appointments, but stay away from mammograms and colonoscopies! I've never had either one and don't plan it it anytime soon.
-
usually go whyen something is wrong. had blood tests all is ok . do have a disease adrenoleukodystrophy wow spelled it right. it affects my legs am in a wheelchair most of the time. luckily not much pain. also have nasal congestion a lot.
-
I only go when I am sick or not feeling good.
-
I do go for routine checkups and would recommend that everyone does the same to make sure that you are missing something that can cause problems physically
-
Yes I have regular check ups with family doctor every six months and several specialist as needed
-
Once a month unless i get sick
-
I don't. I don't like conventional medicine and try to take a holistic approach to health care. The problem becomes not knowing if you have an illness without going to the doctor. So it's tough to treat without knowing the cause.
-
Fall and spring time is my favorite.
-
I have to go at least once a year or my doctor will not refill my prescriptions.
-
I go every six months,,,,,, I have high blood pressure and a thyroid that don't work right so they like to keep a watch on it
-
yes, I do my physical once per year.
-
With the cost of insurance, people are skipping regular checkups...
-
Nope, I almost never go.
-
No. That's probably why I'm so healthy!
Most doctors nowadays are just fancy drug pushers.
No thank you,
-
I’m still having to get the courage to make an appointment before my meds run out! They won’t refill unless doctor authorities the prescriptions! Wish me luck, it’s really hard!
-
Nope. Having zero insurance sucks. :(
-
Yes I actually go more than I want to due to many health problems
-
never missed a appointments
-
Yes I go regularly I am on all kinds of medicine and I have to go. :)
-
Yes,i go once a year because i want to do my blood test.
-
Yes I do and so far I'm doing fine.
-
Yes. I go regularly and now that I'm older that's two or more times a year.
-
Oh yeah. Not gonna lie, it scares me a lot to see my doctors but with the number of health problems I have at a fairly young age (early 30s), I can't afford to miss my doctor's appointments. I never miss a checkup.
-
Yes, I try and have my yearly checkups to try and stay on top of any health issues; so far pretty good just the regular things that pop up as we age!
-
Yes, I love my Primary Care Doctor and am sad I have to find another after our move
-
I never miss appointments with my Doctor. I take my health very seriously.
-
I'm trying to get back in the habit....
-
Yes I go on a regular basis. So many in my family refuse to see a Dr no matter what. My sister is terrible about it, she even makes her own home remedies for an antibiotic. It seems to work for her, but I think seeing a DR is a better option.
-
Now that I am a senior I go to my doctor at least every 6 months for her to check me out thoroughly. I get right on anything she finds that isn't right. I figure if I lick medical problems right off the bat, I will be avoiding worse stuff down the road.
-
Yes I go at least once a year to my regular doctor and my female doctor.
-
I usually only go if I'm sick. I'm not real good about keeping up with the regular checkups.
-
My doc retired 20 yrs ago....last time I saw one.... :-[
-
I have to go every 4 months due to type 2 diabetes/
-
I have to go every 4 months due to type 2 diabetes.
-
I go for blood work every 3 or 4 months. Hope everyone has a good day.
-
Yep, getting older, need to keep up with all the changes.
-
I go more than I want to, I have a lot of health issues
-
I do not go just because I know I am in good health and feel t is a waste of my time and the insurance money and besides when I did the dr ordered a boatload of test and on my last appt he told me and I quote "you are the picture of perfect health" now I know this sounds cliché but tis is true
-
I get regular checkups. I also go to the doctor if I don't feel normal or if something shows up on my body. It's best to catch things early and get some treatment.
-
I do because I have many medical issues, some serious and some no so serious. I take 26 medications a day. Some days I have gotten to the point of saying screw it and quit all meds and doctors.
-
I go every 3 or 4 months for blood work. Most of the time it turns out good.
-
Yes I make sure to go to the doctor every six months for a checkup. But this is because I am a senior and a lot can go wrong in a senior in 6 months. She keeps me aware of things that can go wrong and how to avoid them.
-
I generally only go to the doctor when something is wrong. I'm thinking of going in just to check on things, since it's been a while since I've gone.
-
Yes, I do now. When I was younger I did not go for everything but I do go for regularly check ups.
-
I go once a year to my gynecologist because the big "C" runs in my family.
I see my general practitioner once a year because my insurance gives me gift cards and such for seeing him and doing testing such as mammograms, etc. :female:
They also pay for a gym membership, but I don't go too often. I like walking outside better than using machines. And I do some weight lifting at home. Just eight pound weights that I use for ten minutes or so.
My health is a huge priority to me.
:fish:
-
I do not go to the Dr because it is too expensive. Even with insurance, I have a $3000 per person deductible so, don't go unless I have to.
-
I hate having to go to the doctor. I have to go regular due to I have type 2 diabetes.
-
I go to my Doctor on a regular basis. It's better to go if nothing else for preventive measures. :rose: :rose: :rose: :rose:
-
My husband and I go regularly. And sometimes in-between. The older you get the more important it is. I do like the portals that are available on our doctors practice. It is a fast and easy way to get a less important answered.
-
I go for yearly check-ups, have to get prescription refills. I haven't need to go in between in several years (knock wood).
-
Only for mamo's and other mandatory check ups. Never go to the doctor when I am sick. I can heal myself without prescription crap!
-
no but i should
-
I have really bad allergies that collect within my body and produce phlegm which makes me sick to my stomach and throw up, so I take a prescription allergy med so I have no choice but to routinely go to the doctor but it is understandable not wanting to go since it does seem they just want to either give you more pills or send you to a specialist to simply drain your money.
-
no, but maybe once a year
