Do you own your home? I'm in the process of buying my home that I have been renting for the last 13 and a half years I'm so excited to actually be a homeowner this has been the biggest thing I've ever done and the most expensive!
-
Congrats! I know you will be very Happy being a Home Owner. I have been a Home Owner for over 25 years and it feels so Good to call something really Big to call your own. You will be so Very Happy. :)

Love owning my home especially since we paid it off it about 10 years ago. Like knowing that I have always have a place to lay my head. Now we just to keep it maintained
-
We bought our place in 1976 for $8,500, (interest rates were 9.5%) a small 1=bedroom bungalow with 2.5 acres. We stuffed 7 rooms of furniture and 3 boys in there besides us. That was fun! We built onto the place and to make a long story short, had to build a new place away from the road due to a flood which wrecked the foundation of the bungalow. Who needed flood insurance living on a hill??? We needed a 2nd mortgage for that at 11%. We finally paid off the whole thing 10 years ago. Luck wasn't with us those years :( and am glad it's done.

Well, if you call having a mortgage in place, then I am a homeowner right now. However, I was just informed that they sold my loan to another lender. ::) That kind of stuff scares me. ???
The last home I lived in, which I grew up in, was completely paid off for a short time and then someone put a torch to it and it burned down. No, they never figured out who it was. They were so anxious to prove that I had done it myself that they didn't do much of an investigation other than grilling me for hours at a time. :bs:
I suppose that was because insurance didn't want to pay for it. And evidently, Illinois is rampant with arsonists that want their homes to burn down to get the insurance. Really? Really? :-\
I noticed later on that the place had been hit by lightning so maybe it wasn't such a good place to live after all. You think? :dontknow:
:fish:

Yes own a home. We bought it in 2008 got for a good price. Had some fixing up to do. Our mortgage is reasonable compare to rents. You do have to pay for upkeep rather then having a landlord pay. Make sure you can afford the mortgage.

My boyfriend and I have recently been looking for our first home! We are super excited to have a home of our own after renting for years. It's just so hard for us to find anywhere that has everything we are looking for without being so far away from town or being just astronomically expensive, and we don't have a very long list of demands. We just want a yard so our dog can spend time outside and where we live its hard to find a nice place with a yard that isn't miles away. Have you had any issues finding everything you wanted in a house?
-
I have owned a home since the 1960's and sometimes two of them at once. I am so glad my grandpa instilled in me that they are not making any more dirt, so it's a great investment if you chose wisely. We just downsized and paid for the one we live in now with cash and had a few thousand left over for savings.
-
We rent, but one day God will Bless us with a house, Praying.
-
no
-
Congrats to all the homeowners! It's a great investment that really pays in appreciation.
-
Yes. We bought our home in 1995. It's a big commitment, and so worth it. Congrats.
-
Thanks everyone !! I'm so excited!
-
I own my home and so happy versus renting. You waste so much more money renting your whole life.
-
congrats! I've owned my home since 2010, it was a great feeling not having to pay a 2nd or 3rd person your hard earned monies!
-
I do not own a home, but I know how excited you are, good luck...
-
yes we bought in 2008 good investment but you do have to fix things that break. to rent in Ca is crazy. my son is looking at buying a home in Ca geeze hes looking at 600,000 for a basic home geeze. He and wife have good jobs but not sure if they can afford. he will do well with taxes I hope.
-
currently renting home - but gonna buy again - good to be a homeowner! :rose:
-
I'm a home owner. Well .... I technically have a mortgage, but it motivates me to keep the place looking nice and keep up with the household chores.
-
Is the best way to go! Nothing offers the peace of mind like home ownership! Renting sucks! :peace:

All the very Best!!

Just wanted to let everybody know we closed on the house on October 30th I am now a homeowner it is a wonderful feeling to know I don't have to move now
-
My son and daughter in law just bought a house for 675,000 give or take. In livermore ca. They got 100,000 from my daughter in laws mom. Ver6 generous. The taxes on the house alone is 700.00 a month. It's a 3bd 2bh move in ready. Not sure what the house payment will be. I'm kind of shocked about the price. I guess they qualified and know what their doing. The price is not all that outrages in Ca.
-
Unfortunately, no I do not. I am also unable to do it at the moment because of my current job. However, that does not mean I cannot start saving up for the down payment so as to avoid a lengthy mortgage.
-
Unfortunately, I have yet to own my own home. It is a dream of mine but given my financial situation, it is not a priority for me. However, I am in the process of saving up for a sizeable down payment for my dream home. :)
-
I'm officially homeless as of October 12th of this year. My house sold so fast and we had to get out in 30 days. I am living in a friend's house until I find a house I can afford. It's a great house, but it's the first time for me not to have my own home.
Doesn't feel real good. :-\
-
I am currently renting, but I am looking into rent-to-own home programs. My goal is to buy a home by my 30th birthday
-
Conhratulation to you, It must be a good feeling to share the American Dream, I am hoping to be in that situation in the near future...
-
I have a giant mortgage, but I'm hoping to pay it off early. My goal is financial independence so I won't have to work anymore (but may keep my job because I genuinely enjoy it). :)

We are homeowners....still have a mortgage though.
We are wanting to down size and get a smaller home now that the kids have moved out.
We have thoroughly enjoyed this home and the location is wonderful for raising a family. It's time for another family to enjoy this place.

We did the same thing last year and I am so happy to have less to take care of and no house payments. We bought a house together with our youngest son and his two little girls, so we didn't really lose anything as far as having family close by.

Oh my gosh I am loving being a home owner this is the best thing I have ever done I’m getting so much done and it feels so rewarding now because the home belongs to me I’ve got the dogs room set up they now have their own bedroom and they love that and now I’m working on my kitchen and putting down a new floor and hopefully you’re going to get new appliances soon it’s all a slow process but it’s happening and it belongs to me and it’s so nice
-
I hope you are enjoying your home now. Congrats again
-
No too many hassles, homes are for families if they can afford them  8)
-
Unfortunately, I do not have a home. I hope to do so, however, in the next couple of years. I have so much going on with school and my career that I have to resort to renting. :(
However, once my life settles down, I plan on saving for a down payment for my own home.
-
I don't own a home yet. But I do intend to in the future, it's just a matter of saving (the ideal) 20% down payment plus closing costs.
-
How are you enjoying your new home, any update....
-
I will soon purchase a condo. I rent now, feel that it's thrown away money, so :sad1:
-
I am still hoping to purchase a first home, but the income is not keeping up with inflation....

I WISH. CONGRATS to you though!
-
At the moment we dont own our own home but we are looking in to it and also saving up for the right place for our little family :)
-
Nah, I still live with my mom.
I'd like to eventually move out, and find my own place. Would really love to buy some land, and build my own place. However, if I were able to move out, the next place would probably be a rental (like an apartment or something like a condo/town-house).
-
congrats;unfortunatley I dont think I can own a home let alone maintain due to my low income;renting is about all i can do
-
Still hoping to be a homeowner and live the American dream....
-

-
Wish I did! I am just renting currently and hope to be able to buy a house someday.

I love home ownership. I have lived in apartments and I just can't take it. I need my own yard and garden. We've lived in our home for 25 years and paid off our mortgage in 2009.
