I completed a survey today that struck me as odd. Some of the questions in the research study were duplicated in random points in the survey (but with a different order of answers). Was this just a new kind of question to see if survey takers were paying attention? What other reason would this be?
-
I suspect that you are right and they are checking to see if people are paying attention or not answering truthfully. I have had surveys with multiple questions that are worded very similarly in the past too. The best thing is to read the questions carefully and answer honestly.
-
You are probably correct. It might be to check on attention and or truthfulness. It also might be a test of sorts to see if respondents answer differently if questions are worded in different order.
-
so annoying isnt it? especially if its quite a few times it does this
-
Yep, been there, done that.
-
I've seen surveys with duplicate questions before.
-
I experience that in most surveys I take, honestly. It's annoying but it can't be helped.
-
I noticed one Tap Research survey that was about business success and loans, and it kept saying there was an error with some of the questions I answered , so I ended up repeating some of them up to 5 times lol.
-
I have noticed that before as well. I bet they want to see if we are paying attention.

I had the same exact experience a few minutes ago. I had back to back questions, only in a different order. I immediately thought that they were checking up on me to make sure I wasn't just randomly checking boxes. I imagine some people do that and don't even read the questions.
-
they do that to make sure you are paying attention and not just putting random answers
-
I need to put glasses on before I start reading these posts. I SWORE the title was "Delicate Questions". Silly me!
-
They try to make sure if you are paying attention and not robot
-
They tell you in the beginning of the survey that they will have duplicate questions during the survey, to see if you are not just putting in random answers or you will be disqualified.
-
Have seen many of these and guess it their way to double check if you reading and paying attention. No problem if you are
-
I see duplicate questions in surveys too. I think it's there for quality purposes.
-
I agree with bdzh.
-
These are checks and balances in surveys to see if you answer things the same way.
-
I accept it as part of the process of taking surveys, although it can be annoying especially if it occurs in a lengthy survey where the text is very small and hard to read. Despite using glasses when on the computer, I do keep a magnifying glass close by. :glasses-nerdy:

What is the reason for the duplication...
-
I get so many duplicate questions when taking a long survey.
-
I have seen that happen a lot, I think they are checking to see if you are being honest and paying attention
