Several years ago I read about a dome house that supposedly would survive an intense hurricane. One was being built in Pensacola FL and I wonder if it survived Michael. Have you ever heard about this type of house and what do you think?
-
yup make sense but why aren't there more. Perfect anywhere there's wind and rain sounds like it would be a strong enough.
-
Never heard of the dome house, though they do make homes to survive a category 5 hurricane but not storm surge.
-
Don't know anything a Dome house in Pensacola, but hope that is real.

looks like they have their own webpage

I have seen many dome houses...not necessarily in Florida.
And I wonder if it is better roof design to stand gusty winds.
-
I have not heard of a dome house. But i have heard of some homes being built to survive a hurricane 5. The dome house sounds like a good idea to me.

I am not familiar with a Dome house, it sounds like a good idea for hurricane prone areas but I wonder would it help with strong storm surge and wind.

I live on the coast in South Carolina. Hurricanes are always a possibility for us and I have never heard of such a thing. They might be able to make such a house that would be 'less' likely to be messed up by a hurricane, but I don't believe they could make it hurricane proof.

I googled and found an article about how the Dome Home in Pensacola survived Hurricane Ivan in 2004.
Here is the link ==> http://www.nbcnews.com/id/6011773/ns/weather-weather_news/t/dome-home-weathers-storm/#.W8c6AHtKipo (http://www.nbcnews.com/id/6011773/ns/weather-weather_news/t/dome-home-weathers-storm/#.W8c6AHtKipo)

saw some built on building off the grid tv show

I saw the story about the house on tv, great miracle, maybe the state need to copy thier plans for the people's safety...

I never heard of the dome house in Pensacola. I live in Florida and have been through several Hurricanes. Even if I had a Dome house I don't think I would want to stay in there during a category 4 or 5 storm. I would prefer to evacuate or go to a shelter where there are people there to help if things get really bad.

Dome house that could survive a hurricane is nice but if there in a flood region it wont matter
-
I wish they would start making domehomes or homes that's equipt to withstand sever, distructive weather. Since the moron in the white house refuses to believe in climate change. Hell, we should start making floating homes that can submerge during rainy flooding hurricane seasons & be able resurface after everything dries up. The Asians probably have underwater home project due to bad weather & climate change!

I have never heard of the dome house.
