Do you get a flu shot every year? I went and got my flu shot today. I got it at the senior center in past years but I didn't see a sign for the shots this year so my spouse and I went to the pharmacy and got it. Now my arm is a little sore.
-
This will be the first year that I am getting the flu shot. If it's going to reduce the odds of me getting the flu by 70-90% that I'm all for it.
-
Yes, I got mine last week.
-
I had four people, out of ten that went for shots that called in sick on Monday, after getting the shot on Friday. I am not big on those kind of odds and will pass on getting the shot this year as I have for the last fourteen years. I have gotten the flu four of those fourteen years. My wife has gotten the shot every one of those fourteen years and gotten sick six of those years. I think the odds lie with not getting the flu shot. It seems that, after every flu season, the center for disease control issues a statement stating 'the flu strain was slightly different this year and the shot was not quite as effective'. I like my odds at not getting sick and not getting the shot better. It doesn't seem to make sense to get a shot if you are going to get sick from it or a different strain gets through any way.

I get one every year - just got it last Friday morning. Haven't been flu sick in AGES.

Hi, I havent been able to get my flu shot yet because I have been sick and on a taper prednisone taper. I always get a flu shot with minimal side effects. I have been taking extra precautions by not going into crowds or the movies, etc.....
-
I got my Flu Shot last Friday. I get them every year. So far, I have not got sick from the shots and I Pray that I never do.
-
I got the flu shot this year. My arm was sore for a couple of days. Hopefully it works.
-
I got a flu shot about 20 years ago and almost died. So I refuse the shots every year. Since I'm not outside in crowds, can't go out in snow and ice, I don't feel it's necessary. I'd rather not take the chance again.
-
Yes, I got it at my doc's office. I am a senior and ask for the high dose flu shot every year because Medicare pays for it and it covers more strains than the regular one does.
-
I only had the flu shot once and it got me sick
-
This is sad to me. I see people saying it reduces the chances of getting the flu by given percentages. Let's try to forget the fact they are terrible for your health. If anything, it makes it more likely that you will get the flu.
-
I do not get flu shot
-
no i do not got a flu shot one year and got the flu every year i have not gotton one i did not get the flu
-
I will get the flu shot, my son live with me and has copd. I would not get it other wise.
-
I am not allowed to take the flu shot because of my lupus my rheumatologist suggest I do not put that poison in my body when my immune system is already upset and fighting itself that it would only cause more problems for me I have been fairly lucky though and I don't get the flu very often because I do try to take care of myself
-
Not getting it again this year. When I got it in the past I was so sick it is not worth it. Was like having the flu and the doctor said that in the shot could be counteracting with other medications that I take for my RA.
-
I have never had a flu shot in ages, 30 years , why they calim to only be 9% effective, if my car only worked 9% of the time it would n be in my drive way, i feel the same about shots for people , kids and animals , my dog gets rabies because she has to by law, the rest are crap
-
No.
-
I did it got it in October. Hubby got his too. He works at the schools as a sub, and we both work at the Ministry of Hope. Never know what is going to be brought in at both places. I also got penumionia shot and an allergy shot all at the same time. I was a little droopy for a couple of days and did not want any one to touch my arms as they swelled up and my rump did also. But otherwise was ok. Just felt like a ;in cushion for a few days
-
I received my flu shot a few weeks ago. As painful as it was, it is very well worth it. I haven't gotten sick (knock on wood) ever since my job mandated the flu shot.
-
I don't get the flu shot. I guess I just take my chances !!
-
I normally get one but I have not gotten one yet this year.
-
I don't get Flu Shots anymore. Every time I ever got one, I have always gotten the Flu. I am sick enough and I don't need to be any sicker. >:(
-
I have heard way too many horror stories about people getting flu shots to make me give in and get one. I took them many years ago, but in the last few years, I have seemed to be that one or two percent of all people who get the negative side effects of any drug taken. I've got an actual phobia of taking any new meds now, and will take my chances. A good friend took the shingles shot and the flu shot at the same time and ended up in the emergency room. Another friend has had an extreme reaction to the shingles shot and has been weeks trying to recover.
-
Haven't had a flu shot in 5 years, but haven't had the flu in 5 years. the last time I got a flu shot I got the flu. Not volunteering for it.
-
Yep, get it every year.
-
I do not get one,but my husband does.
-
I would not get one, but they're free for me and sometimes my insurance pays me to get one; plus I live with a person that has heart disease so I need to not get the flu and pass it on to someone with a compromised immune system.
:fish:
-
no I don't all the people I knew who had it got the flu two weeks longer. I've never had the flu because I dont want it.
-
No, do not get flu shots. I don't usually get the flu, although, did last year and I'm "high risk" but, have heard too much about their connection with alzheimers because of the junk that's in them. And, almost everyone I know who gets one, gets sick afterward. I know all the medical people say they can't make you sick but, I know a lot of people who get sick afterward. Whether it's the shot or not, I don't want to get sick so I avoid it.
-
I stopped getting it a few years ago after hearing reasons to not get it. But last year I had pneumonia for 2 1/2 months and my Dr convinced me I needed a flu and pneumonia shot.
I just got my shot this past Thursday for this year, I take care of my 3 month old grandbaby so I don't want to take the chance of giving it to her.
-
Yes, your health insurance will cover the flu shot, so it's better to get the flu shot and be safe than sorry later.
-
Yes - received mine last Saturday....I have heard that it takes 2 weeks to kick in...
-
No I don't. Where I used to work before I retired "hounded" you until you took it but since I don't. There is a lot of controversy about the safety of it and I never get the flu so I just take my chances.
-
Nope! I refuse to get the flu shot! I got it one year and got violently ill from it. They put toxins and poisons into the shots. I don't trust them and my kid does not get it either.
-
I usually get the flu. I never have any issues. I will get my in a few weeks when I go for my physical.
-
i use vitamins and dont get sick very ften as a result.
-
I usually do, either get it from my job when they do a clinic for it, or just go to the pharmacy if no plans to visit the doctor's office.
-
oh yes !! got my flu shot when it first came out. I get one every year !!!!
-
i i havent had a flu shot in many years and havent gotten the flu either
-
I skipped my flu shot last year and got nailed with a severe cold because of it, so I was an early bird in getting a flu shot this year. = )
-
i got a flu shot several years ago and i got the flu shortly after getting the shot.
i haven't had the flu shot and several years and have been fine. I hope the trend continues since i really don't care for flu shots. :pumpkin: :rose: :peace:
-
I suffer with really bad allergies so my doctor makes me get one so those allergy infections (which are the same as a cold except minus the sore throat) doesn't turn into pneumonia.
-
I got my first ever Flu shot in October, didn't get none of the flu like symptoms. Each time my Aunt gets the Flu shot, she always get sick from it, it does her really bad.
-
I do not get the flu shot
-
Not this year. I will skip the shot
-
Nope, I will pass. Last year it was so effective just proved my point
-
I don't have get flu shots since I stopped at my early 20's & never get the flu since. I tested it & took the shot in my let 20's & got the flu a few days after. So no more flu shots ever.

All I'm going to say as a former health professional is that there is a lot of misinformation on here as well as misperceptions. Generally speaking, vaccines are why we, as a society, are as healthy as we are today and have not had horrible outbreaks of polio, whooping cough, tetanus, diptheria, etc. Please look up herd immunity. Please research on true medical sites and not fear-mongering ones, how immunology actually works. If we don't immunize and keep them up, there will be a real danger of deadly outbreaks one of these days. It is a public health threat!

My husband got it last month and he is sick now,but not because of it.
