I recently let a job and now looking for work. I was just at an interview and was so hopeful that I would get the job. Well they said they would call still I wait.The job would have been primarily home based. Something that I have been wanting for a long time. To run a business from home I am thinking of continuing my education. I just am tired of the food industry but that's is what I know. Any thoughts about working from home.

If you are "running a business from home" why would you need to interview with someone else? Or are you working for someone else and doing so from home? Everyone would like to do that. I do not know anyone who would pass up that opportunity. As for the we will call you either way - no they won't.

Not sure about where you live but here Amazon let you work from home and some of the hospitals will let you do billing from home that just might be some ideas for you to try good luck to you

Working from home sounds good to me. I suppose you would have to set a schedule for yourself and have a designated work space. Otherwise a person could be distracted by soap operas and game shows on TV.

Job hunting is awful. Last year a company contacted me after they received my resume from an employment service. I had two phone interviews for a job where I would mostly be working at home (much like yours). I didn't hear back from them, so after a week I called the company. Turns out they decided to "put their financial resources into other projects." I'm not sure if that was the real reason or he didn't want to make me feel bad that they had gone with a different candidate. Hang in there, things tend to work out in the end.

Going back to school is an excellent choice. If you have to take classes from home you could do them online. Most Community Colleges have trade programs that will train you for a career. Good Luck... once you have training, it's over & you have that degree or certificate the rest of your life.

In my last job I was able to work from home a couple of times a week which was nice but not sure I could do it all the time. Miss talking and interacting with other humans besides my husband which was a big distraction at times. Always had to remind him that I was actually working

Agree with a lot of these thoughts...the downside from WFH is the lack of interactions but it does provide a lot of flexibility and saves time

If the Home based job is creditable then it's worth doing or looking into, but if not, check with the BBB to see what they say about it, most home based jobs are scams, so be careful when wanting a home based job.

Working from home is wonderful. No clothing or travel expense. Your time is your own. You do have to be dedicated and disciplined though.

I actually checked in to the Amazon before Christmas but the requirements were you would work every weekend and all the holidays and most likely be laid off after Christmas. Pay was not as good as some want to say online. But you are at home so that is a plus and makes it worth taking less money.
Our local hospital does not offer any work from home positions. I am not sure how you could do billing from home because most bills are sent snail mail and you are not going to have the stuff at home to do that with. Also would make me uncomfortable to think people had that stuff in their home to snoop thru it.

You don't set a schedule for yourself. That is where a lot of people are confused. Most work from home positions have set hours you are to be working. I applied for a customer service work from home job and the guy from the career center said you can work when ever you want as long as you get your hours in. When I went to the interview you clock in and out and they tell you the schedule. Same with Amazon. They tell you when you will be working. It isn't like surveys where you do them when you want and watch tv at the same time.

Most home based jobs are not scams. Envelope stuffing is a scam. But there are tons of companies who outsource their jobs now and people do work from home. Finding the positions is not easy though and the competition is fierce. Because like I said everybody wants to work from home.

I have always taken the approach that if I couldn't find a job, I created one. So put on your thinking cap and figure what is needed that you like to do and go for it.

Best of wishes on your job search. It's not always easy to find a decent job, especially one where you work at home. But if you really want it, keep trying.

what are things do you like? do you like working with people? try something you have never done before.
volunteer somewhere a few hours a week. networking by doing something you enjoy opens up possibilities

There are sites that are legit with work from home jobs. Some require a landline and fast internet connection. Don't stop looking you will find something.

I have had several Make Money Online jobs that paid me over $1,000 a month and now I earn over $100 most months with a clear path to expand on that, but only time will tell if I can get back to the higher levels.

You say that you know a lot about the food industry. Do you like writing? If you do, you can use your knowledge of the food industry to help others learn about it. Are there certain things you had to learn the hard way but can share to help others do so more quickly? You could start a blog and monetize it or start a study course.
Many at home businesses have been created by people who had knowledge that others need and would gladly pay for. In any case, it's just an idea. I wish you luck in whatever you ultimately choose :)

working from home does take a lot of discipline. Easy sometimes to get distracted by things that need done at home. I have done medical billing on and off for years. I fill in when staff is off or on vacation. It is mostly done on line, then print out the bill and mail. You do not have a lot of stuff on hand for anyone to go through.

I would definitely welcome the opportunity to work from home (in order to supplement the income I make from my full-time job). I just haven't found the right job. I may end up creating a blog and build upon my investments in the near future. But that is probably the closest to "working" from home that I would get.
