Title: Dog adoption
Post by: 1imaginarygirl on February 16, 2019, 06:53:31 pm
We sent an application in for a dog at a rescue on Thursday. Now we have a home visit scheduled for tomorrow. I'm so excited/nervous/anxious! Wish us luck that we'll have a big ole skooshy faced addition to our family very soon.  :dog:

I hope it goes well. Ironically, I had a pregnant lil pup come up to my backdoor and she hasn't left my side yet!!! Guess I my rescue found me!! She has stolen my heart already! I have tried to walk around and ask if she belongs to anyone but no luck yet! Honestly, I am a little okay with this, LOL! Hope you find your perfect match!  :dog:  :dog:

The home visit went well for the most part. Of course some random dog escaped his apartment while we were in the lobby and tried to attack the rescue dog. That's the only thing I'm worried about. The dog we want to adopt has some medical issues but we are ok with them. She is adorable and I am already in love with her. Ugh. Now we just have to wait.

If somebody was missing her they would be looking for her. Esp if they knew she was pregnant. Somebody may have set her out. You know, to punish her for getting pregnant. grrr

I love it! Great use of the word Skooshy! I wish there were more people like you! I volunteer at a no-kill shelter for two hours every week. I walk dogs for several miles which is a win win for me. My phone sits in my pocket and I just take the dog out pet it, love it, and check out different neighborhoods. I'll pick up a bag of cans for recycling, while we are walking (always thinking money)and have found a few dollars lying on the sidewalk. My daytime job donates five hundred dollars to this shelter once I have logged in fifty hours so it is a win-win-win proposition. I fall in love with a different dog every week and always seem to have a few extra doggie treats left over in my pocket for my own two dogs at home (two Golden Retrievers). I am amazed at how many wonderful dogs do not get adopted right away.

I'M GETTING A DOG! She is a big ole 5-yr old brown Newfie. We weren't going to get another Newfie after we said goodbye to our old boy last July, but she is just too cute. She is overweight so we're going on lots of walkies. We are picking her up on Saturday. I'm so excited!

That's wonderful for you, the dogs and the shelter! It sounds like you work for a pretty great company.

good luck. I rescued 2 older cats about 3 years ago. 1 still acts like a kitten and runs and plays like crazy.

Good luck on your adoption of your new dog.

My pets are usually rescues .. they usually find me most of the time.

This week has taken FOREVER. But it looks like I'll be picking up my new floof tonight! The rescue asked if we could pick her up early, because they have to travel several hours tomorrow to rescue six more dogs. We already have a crate and a few toys. I am going shopping in a bit to pick up some food, a leash and collar. Aww, I can't wait to get her home and LOVE her!
