Don't think we have to worry about this for a another year.  He gave Mexico one year to clear the problems up.

My husband has taught me to love avocados too. I used to hate them growing up and now I absolutely love them either plain with balsamic vinegar drizzled over them or in guacamole. A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to go to an avocado restaurant - all the dishes served there have avocado in them. It was absolutely delicious.

I have recently become an avocado lover, meaning in the last 5 or 6 years.  I like them on sandwiches, in salads, mashed on toast, on tacos and halving and scooping out with an egg baked in it.  Guacamole is fabulous.  What do you know?! A fat I like that is supposed to be good for you!

Waa Waa Waa.  I am so sick of hearing about avocados like it is a huge loss.  Something needs to be done.  This is a crisis.  People can keep their heads buried in the sand but there most def IS a crisis at the boarder.  If you lived in an area where these people are trampling American citizens and over running towns you would think it was a bigger deal.

These people are coming in to the US illegally. Nobody said you cannot come. Just do so LEGALLY.  They also bring with them disease. Again say big deal.  Well when your elderly parent or grandparent ends up with TB and they die maybe you will think it is a big deal. Or Measles.  Both are coming back with a vengeance.

And whether you want to believe it or not these people are also drawing welfare and food stamps.  I have seen it first hand.  It is fact.  But too many want to keep their head buried and pretend it isn't real.

I had not heard that.  If you are going to give them a year then don't even worry about it.  BILLIONS can cross the boarder in a year.

Our country is full.  There is not room for all of the world to move to the US.

I hate them.  I tried them once on some fancy sandwich and I took it off and threw it away.  The dip is okay like on tacos.  I guess the flavor is drowned out.

America has really taken to Mexican foods.  I also love avocados and will miss them.  I assume we can get them from somewhere, but the cost may be higher.

When I lived in California we had an Avocado tree in the back yard that produced enough for the whole neighborhood and my favorite way to eat them is still just sprinkle on a little salt and pepper and dig in with a spoon.

I worry about what will happen if the President closes the border as well.  I love avocados and the fact that they are so healthy for you.  I didn't realize until recently that they have more potassium than bananas ant that they can help to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels!

Avocados are creamy and yummy!  My husband actually disliked them for a long time, but it's something he's warmed up to since we got married.  He makes a mean avocado toast  ;)

The only think I use avocado for is I blend a small amount in my green smoothie. (Kiwi-green grape) .. It doesn't seem to change the taste at all and I feel like I'm eating just a little bit healthier.

Probably cheaper. They have them in California. And the boarder will never close any way.

I like Avocado's just about any way you make them. Just wish we had a decent store here to buy them.  And when they finally get some in  they go bad in just a few days and are very expensive. A coupe of weeks ago I  stopped at Kroger's on the way home and bout several for  50cents apiece large ones too. I had bought  4 a week or so ago before I bought the good ones and they were $1.50  each here.  Their trouble is they want to make a fortune on them so try to sell them high and then when they start to get way to soft ant turn black inside they lower the price. and no one will buy them. Seems to me there  could be a middle ground and  they could sell most of them without losing any. Oh well their problem.

My favorite way to eat an avocado is to slice it and put it on toast.  Sometimes I will add a slice of swiss cheese and tomato slice.  My daughter will grill that combination like a grilled cheese.
Either way is delicious.

California grows avocados.... you'll be fine.
Here in California avocados were .39cents each at ALDI's last week when supposedly the prices of avocado went up because of the closing the border scare.

Stop believing the lies on MSM, it's just propaganda.

I have tried them four times and didn't find them very good. They say Haas avocados are the best but I didn't see any difference between them and unmarked ones. They had no flavor, even the Haas. Evidently, they are an acquired taste. I'm going to try again in a different recipe and see if that makes a difference.  I tried guacamole and found that had no flavor either.

It's all in the seasoning.  Whatever brand of avocado I'm using, I start with a little bit of himalayan pink salt, a pinch of pepper ( I like white pepper ) and a drizzle of olive oil.  Voila - flavor has been unlocked.  It's flavorful for me at least.

If olive oil doesn't suit your fancy, you can also try Italian salad dressing.  There are numerous possibilities.  Slice off a little piece of avocado and get creative.   :)

There are other places we can get avocados. I like them a lot but could probably survive without them if necessary.  :dontknow:

FYI: "The second largest avocado producing country in the world is the Dominican Republic. It produces 420,000 metric tons annually, a number that has been steadily increasing over the last few years. A large percentage of this production is consumed nationally rather than exported. In 2011, this country exported $23.9 million worth of avocados, when it was only number 8 in global production. The Dominican Republic is currently planning to plant more avocado trees in an effort to reforest the island and to increase export potential. Other significant avocado producing countries include Peru, Colombia and Indonesia."

Possibly we could help other economies by purchasing avocados from these other countries.  :icon_rr:

I need to find some Fuerte avocados here... I would like to try them, for sure!   I eat avocados pretty much daily & an even better tasting avocado would be a great find.  Thanks for the suggestion!

The measles outbreak is here because of people thinking they do not need to or refusing to get their children immunized.  In our area I know of several doctors/pediatricians who will not see your child if you refuse immunizations.  Not just avocados but a lot of your food prices are going up because the Trump administration is not letting in the seasonal workers who have come to work in the fields, groves and ranches in years past.   These jobs are going unfilled because Americans think they are beneath them.   Trumps son did try  to get an exemption to allow the seasonal workers for their family winery.

The measles is here because it was brought here by illegals.  Not by kids who were not immunized.  You cannot just develop Measles.  And the people so angry about it - if YOU have the vaccine then YOU cannot get it so you are good.  Although I still would not want to be around it.

And Trump is NOT stopping immigrants from coming here legally to fill agriculture jobs.  Heck, he isn't even stopping the droves that come shoving across the boarder every day.  He is trying to.  And he needs to.

And lastly, the prices of food are not going up because of the lack of immigration workers.  The prices of food is going up because workers are demanding higher pay.  Just wait til they get that $15 min wage they are wanting.  Then you will really see increases in food prices.

Illegals cost the tax payer a ton of money.  If you lived in an area where they were invading your country by the droves you would understand.  And yes they DO get food stamps.  They DO get free medical care.  And they DO get welfare.  You can say I am wrong, you can deny it is true, you can continue to live in a bubble.  But I KNOW for a fact that it IS true.  And the people in the food stamp office cannot do anything but give it to them.  I have even seen women with cards in more than one name.  It is ridiculous.

I heard on the radio that President Trump's plans would prevent people from getting Avocados. I hope it doesn't happen. I didn't think I would like avocados at first, but then my mother introduced me to avocado salad. It was delicious with cut and scored avocados, shredded cheese, croutons, tomatoes and salad dressing. I don't usually eat healthy because healthier foods don't usually taste good to me, but I am glad to get the nutrition avocados provide with their healthier fats.
