Title: Todays Cartoon
Post by: countrygirl12 on April 09, 2019, 09:07:52 am
Does anyone know what this means?

Where it says do you believe in God?
And the other guy says "yes up to isomorphism"

This does not make sense.  And don't insult me saying I have to know what isomorphis means. I googled it and it still does not make any sense at all.  It kind of sounds sacrilegious to me.

Most of his cartoons are extremely weird and to be honest I find very few of them amusing. I didn't see the one for today because I am not even close to earning the 15 cent but sounds bizarre.

It wasn't long after I saw this one a year or more ago (and another one that I considered offensive, but can no longer remember the content) that I just stopped clicking on the daily cartoons. It was only a click on my way toward the daily PTC anyway.

I looked up the word also. I was more confused after I saw the definition than before I checked.  :silly:

It does seem to apply to higher mathematics, for whatever that's worth.

BTW, I checked the spelling you had of sacrilegious and you had it right. So, you are no dummy, cuz why is it "religious" and then "sacrilegious"? The "i" and the "e" trade places inside the word. Did you have to look up the word and, if so, did you notice that?

I was at a friend's house today helping with a little cleaning.  From her newspaper, she clipped 3 cartoons from the comic section.  All 3 were clean, funny and understandable.  We both enjoyed the fun humor and had a good laugh.  It's a shame that the ptc comic page can't be more like that more often.

I love the cartoons, my Dad and I always read them in the newspaper every single day and he'd laugh his brains out! LOL  So seeing these brings special memories and a smile to my face!

"Sacrilegious" comes from the base word "sacrilege" or "sacred", not "religious".

From the Merriam-Webster dictionary site:
Why is sacrilegious not spelled sacreligious?
Sacrilegious is often used in reference to religion, or to religious things, so it is easy to see why people might be confused by its spelling. However, sacrilegious and religious are not from the same roots. Religious comes from the Latin word religio (“reverence, religion”), whereas sacrilegious and the related noun sacrilege come from Latin roots meaning “sacred” (sacr-) and “to steal” (legere).

Edit: I didn't see the cartoon. I never look at them anymore, because most of the time they were political or just not funny.

You just have to earn 5 cents to be able to do the PTC. :)

No I did not have to look that word up.  I did look up the other word.  And it doesn't make any sense at all.  And no, I didn't realize the i and e traded places. But it is like the i before e except after c and about a hundred other words. lol

I usually don't click the daily cartoon inside of the PTC section.  Most times I find the cartoons odd/weird/dumb.

Isomorphism is a very general concept that appears in several areas of mathematics. The word derives from the Greek iso, meaning "equal," and morphosis, meaning "to form" or "to shape." Formally, an isomorphism is bijective morphism. Informally, an isomorphism is a map that preserves sets and relations among elements.

Anyone who needs thought to get today's must have never taken a trip more than 50 miles with kids in the car.

They finally changed the cartoon with the guy throwing up!  There can't be anything humorous about  anybody throwing up.  Have you noticed how many TV shows have somebody throwing up? It's like they try to figure out how to work it into the script.  It must be trendy, but it just turns me off!

What about the reality shows where there is fierce competition and they always have some stupid person puking and they zoom the camera in on them throwing up.  WHY do you think people want to see that? I will immediately just turn the channel.

I see it differently, but it's probably just the way my brain works. It was rarely a "quick click" for me because I would read the cartoon several times over if I had trouble seeing what the joke was or if I found it odd or offensive. What should be a second or two would turn into 30-60 seconds or more - which is an eternity for me when I am on a click efficiency mission!  LOL

Admittedly, there have been some that were definitely amusing - where I immediately recognized the point. But I found that to be the exception to the rule. So I made the choice to skip them rather than risk lingering on them for too long!

I know what you mean, UGetPaid.  Lingering over the cartoon does eat up some of the seconds ticking away on the timer for PTC.  Clicking on the cartoon is part of my daily routine, too.  However, at times that cartoon leaves me saying:  ???

I've been spending more time now clicking through the Recipes, one at a time.  There are some good meal ideas there.

The cartoons are never funny. Then again if you were a cartoonist it would be difficult to come up with a new one every day that is truly amusing to any extent. There are a few that haven't made sense to me at all.

The newspapers come up with new political cartoons every day and some are hilarious if they fit your political agenda.

I don't find anything dumb about paying me a penny for a 2 second task. If my math is correct, that is $18 an hour. 1/2 cent a second, times 60 seconds is 30 cents a minute, times 60 minutes is $18.

I don't find anything dumb about paying me a penny for a 2 second task. If my math is correct, that is $18 an hour. 1/2 cent a second, times 60 seconds is 30 cents a minute, times 60 minutes is $18.

$18 an hour?  Maybe now I see how people get these insane foolish ways of stating with their referral links you will make x amount an hour and it is no where close to correct.

2.5 minutes x .15 cents is .38 cents
18.00/.38 is 47.3 so you have to do the task 48 times.

SO it takes you over a month to earn the $18 so you are not really making $18 an hour.  I guess technically you are but that ONE hour is spread out over 48 days.   I guess if you have nothing to do but sit and play online all day and you have another real source of income and this is just play stuff that works.

But people who are looking for real ways to make money online (and that IS possible) this is not feasible.

When I first started looking into ways to make money online and I see all these referrals and they claim you can make x and x on this site, at first I got excited, until I realized everyone was lying.  Or just using shady tactics to come up with their figures.

It is under the PTC that you get 15 cents for.
Go to earn cash
Then scroll down to I think it says Paid to Click.  Pays 15 cents and you have to click 4 ads and let it sit open for 2.5 minutes.  Then click and enter something else so it takes closer to 3 plus minutes to complete.   3 minutes for 15 cents is not that great.

I run into a lot of that, cartoons that just make you wonder and have to re-read it half a dozen times and it still doesn't make sense.  I usually let those go.
