Title: Do you search for a cheaper way to watch TV
Post by: metsrock69 on May 01, 2019, 05:03:59 am
With so many things out there and  cable always increasing their rates people are always looking for a cheaper way or a different company. What sounds good on paper may not look good if you are locked in a contract. Always ask before signing up for a long term deal :peace:

I don't even get cable TV because my hubby and I watch TV so rarely, it just isn't worth it to pay for it. We watch mostly PBS shows plus Jeapordy on ABC and 60 Minutes on CBS and This is Us and New Amsterdam on NBC but that's about it except for news programming.

I have searched for a few different ways, but so far I haven't signed up for anything. I have just stuck to my antenna and my roku tv getting about 20 or so local channels and no cable. I used to have basic cable back in the 90's for a short while and enjoyed it, but I don't watch as much tv as then so I don't really have the need for it. The most intriguing thing I did see though was Youtube TV with their 70 channels as of April 2019 and unlimited DVR for 9 months. If I had the money I might invest in that to watch some sports.

Cut the cord, get a Roku, and subscribe to Hulu Live and Philo. It's awesome.

I finally dropped my Roku's after many years, because I get all I need on my Smart TV now.

If I had my way I wouldn't even have a TV, no more then I watch it. It is on right now  for noise. But  if I wasn't so lazy I would  go into the other  room and shut it  down and just have  my radio goin for noise. But he will be home in a few  from school and he watches the news. . I  would rather be on the computer.

I'm stuck with cable until December. Then I'll be free. Out of the 100s of stations we get, we only watch 26 and it gets tiresome watching reruns. Husband won't watch comedies or police shows. Forget dancing and singing.  He's forever complaining there's nothing on TV. I've got another provider in mind but by then, there will probably be something better out there.  We have a flat screen TV but I don't think it's a Smart TV. Have no idea.

We have Pluto TV, and was looking into getting Philo, was wondering if Philo is a good TV, can you tell me if it is and how many channels you get.

I changed cable for Netflix years ago when my husband passed.  I have had netflix for six + years and when I got the increase e-mail yesterday I cancelled.  Not just because of the increase but I have found I like Amazon Prime better so I will go with that for now.

Not yet, but I really need to because we don't even watch tv that much and it's a waste of money.

We actually don't have cable or satellite TV.  We watch Netflix and I also have an indoor antenna.  My daughter has YouTube TV.

Yes, I do.  So far I have one that meets my budget.  Had to call the fools who were losing their minds and being greedy.

We have Charter Spectrum... it's been terrible the last few years. And it continues to increase in price. We've lowered our package but we still use it for a few channels. Have invested in Netflix, Hulu, and Prime since they have so many things already on TV.

I finally dropped my Roku's after many years, because I get all I need on my Smart TV now.

...Until your TV gets to be a few years old, they stop supporting the apps or remove them completely. I had to get a Roku for my smart TV because there are no functioning apps left.

We have Dish. It is pretty expensive, but half of what we were paying for Direct Tv. Unfortunately we can't get Spectrum here or that would be even cheaper than Dish. We have a fire stick but it doesn't here either.

We cancelled our cable a few years ago.  Got a digital antenna and a firestick.
