Husband killing wives, mothers and fathers killing their kids, road rage. NOT the world I grew up in :(
-
Unfortunately people have become immune to the killing. I blame the video games that are so realistic. In real life there is no reset button.

You know I thought the same thing. I wish the violent ones was never invented

I also find the violence that seems to be no big deal horrible.

Things are only going to get worse until Jesus comes back. Then it will get a lot worse. Thankfully we the Christians will not be here to endure that.
It isn't just killing. It is everything. People are so mean and evil and vindictive. People just look for reasons to get somebody else in trouble, keep them from getting a job, or try to get them fired from their job. I don't like the world we are living in any longer.

It is not the fault of video games. If your too stupid to not be able to tell the difference in a video game and real life then you need to be locked up so you cannot hurt anyone.
Blaming video games is a cop out. I do think the games, the movies, and all that has influence. And then parents who do not teach their child right from wrong. Everything is okay. If it feels good do it. You choose if you want to be a girl or a boy. NO your chromosomes determine that. It just goes on and on.

As the word gets worse people are more immune. There is no shock factor. Like the first school shooting. It should not have been broadcast for WEEKS on end. Just gives others ideas. I worked with a guy a few years ago, who would never have been accused of being mentally stable, who made the comment IF I ever decide to kill myself I am going to get a gun and take as many people out with me as I can. I ask him why he would do that. And he said because I want to die famous. Of course HR says well don't you think he was just kidding? IDK but I hope you are the first one he takes out. SMH

I agree not the world i grew up in either. We were never afraid to go to school, play outside, go to church, out to eat, anyplace and we never even thought about getting shot.

Today is an information age where everything is accessible with a few key strokes on your cellular or computer. Morbid curiosity can instantly be satisfied. Humans seem to thrive on any kind of news and have created a need for insanely, sensational stories. This, in turn, creates a spotlight for sick people to get their fifteen seconds of fame. Australia and Sri Lanka handled their tragedies by not releasing the names of the perpetrators which is a step in the right direction. Take away the fame and, perhaps, we will see a reduction in atrocious crimes. Just like sports fans have created the need for athletes to take performance enhancing drugs in order to post super human results. News fills a void in the lives of so many people that have less going on.

yep it's sad now how the world is. even people won't help even if they know it may happen.
-
I don't recognize this country any more. So much violence, immorality and crime. Sad.

What is this suppose to mean?

True. Remember the church shooting in Texas a while back where he basically wiped out most of the congregation? So much changed after that. Almost all of the churches in my area now have a security team and security protocol. I never would have thought I would see a time when you would need this in a church of all places.

I do not agree with people in general having a need to bad news or seeking it out. But when it is in your face every time you turn around people will usually click the news link. I do not know what happened in Australia. I vaguely remember the other place you mentioned being in the news.
But you are right in a lot of people seem to thrive on it. There are multiple topics in these threads where people copy and past stories or links to bad things or just start threads wanting to talk about some specific bad thing going on in the world.
A lot of that just gives satanic people ideas of things to do. School is going to be out I think this week in our area. So thankful we made it through another year with nothing major happening. A couple of punks made threats but when the cuffs were slapped on they went out of the school in tears (LOL) saying it was just a joke.
-
I blame the media a lot, they make such a do about it and others seem to follow for their 15 minutes of shame, also some of the video games and shows. But a lot lays at the parents feet. And also a lot is brought on by racist. Not that most of us are, but what they see on TV. When I grew up we never locked our doors in fact slept with them open for air. No AC back then also all the windows would be open. Now We sleep with our houses all locked up, never unlock them except to go out and in from work and. I hate it.

A lot of crazy things are happening now that did not happen years ago. SMH
-
I get sick every time I read these things, so scary.
-
I know what you mean! It is even worse: Kids killing parents to collect their inheritance and insurance.
It is just terrible...a real tragedy!
-
Crazy people living in a crazy world...doing crazy things.
Where did everything went so wrong? It did not used to be so terrible.
What could we do to reverse all these unacceptable trends.
-
This is the most peaceful and safest time in human history. We hear about these things more now with the unlimited access through the internet, but this isn't anything new.
-
A father who just killed his son because he lost a video game. I tell you these games have a lot to do with violence !!

Nothing is going to reverse the "acceptable trends". Things are not going to get any better.

You have got to be kidding! What world are you living in? This is not the most peaceful or safest time in history. Not at all. The mass shootings and killings did not use to happen. The random attacking strangers because of their message on their shirt or hat is not something that has always happened.
-
Yes, there just seems to be a lot of anger and rage these days; some people have no regards for life.
-
short of nuclear war
-
I guess the only thing we can do is try to be kind to everyone. If more people started doing this, perhaps the world be a much kinder place and perhaps fewer horrible things would happen.

It absolutely is the safest time in human history.

This world is just getting crazier. It is going to come down to only homeschooling with an online teacher.
What is wrong with people!??
-
No, it is not the world we grew up in. I think the violence kids see on TV and on the video games they play help contribute but I think the biggest contributing factors is the way the core of American families have dwindled.

Not really caring what a random fake website link says. I am looking at reality. When I was a kid it was safe for a kid to walk to school, to play out side, heck to BE AT SCHOOL, to go to church, to go out in public. There is no way any sane person can look at the crime we have in the world today and say it is safer today than it was 30 years ago.
Even 20 years ago you did not have to worry about someone walking in to a church and killing a bunch of people.
-
The world is coming to an end, Jesus is on his way and the world will be so different. People get your house in order.

Violent crime has plummeted from 30 years ago, but information on violent crimes has skyrocketed. Ignorance is bliss. You weren't actually safer 30 years, you just felt safer because you didn't have the internet and social media reminding you of the evils of the world.
Even 30 years ago was nothing compared to a century before that, which was nothing compared to a century before that and so forth. Look at some of the evils of the 1400-1500's and ask yourself if things are really that bad now. Look at the genocides that have occurred throughout human history. Is some nut attacking someone for their hat because they're a "*bleep*" really as bad as what the actual *bleep*'s imprisoning random people on the streets for any number of reasons and committing mass murder? There's plenty of issues today, but some things need to be kept in perspective.

lol. Yeah whatever. News or no news things like school shootings and church shootings did not happen 30 years ago. I am not ignorant. You are free to believe what you want and I am free to believe what I want. And reality says the world is worse today than it was 30 years ago.

It has always been like this. It is just reported more on the news. If you read your history, people have been killing each other forever.
-
It is very sad. It seems as if I am always hearing new horror stories.

I w-w-w-will do my b-b-best not to.The space program line was just sarcasm to how wicked the world is.But you knew what i meant.Anything to disagree.Hidden?Care to explain?I have nothing to hide.
No, I had no idea what you meant. But you DO know what I mean by being hidden. You seem to want to troll my comments and have some smart remark to make to everything I say. Didn't take long to figure out who you are.

Your post is comforting to me that I am not the only one concerned over the rampant evil in the world now. There may have been bad stuff when I was growing up but not on this level. Very scary and very sad.
-
I feel thankful that I live in an area where I can leave my door unlocked day or night. We can leave the keys in our car and there are lots of kids that walk home from school. I do see all of the horrible instances of people being killed for no good reason. I just try my best to keep a positive attitude about the world and look for the good in people rather than focusing on the negative. There is still a lot of love in the world. Hopefully the love and peace will take over the negative attitudes. :peace:

Let's not forget the sense of "entitlement" that our young have... drives me nuts!
-

Yes there has been crime for eons. But not until the last 20 years or so did you have the mass shootings like you do today. Or just random people killing for no reason. Things are getting worse in the world around us. Yes it is more reported so you hear about more but there are also more bad things happening. Until recently you would never have even thought about some crazy idiot walking in to a church and killing every one they could. Or even a school. When I was in school that never entered my mind. But today, it is something all the kids have to think about.

Unfortunately people have become immune to the killing. I blame the video games that are so realistic. In real life there is no reset button.
You know I thought the same thing. I wish the violent ones was never invented
That violence is called sin and it started in the Garden of Eden. Cain killed Able and it's continued ever since. It isn't video games, it's the evil of man's heart and the rejection of God in our society and families.

No but the video games where kids and even adults constantly kill real looking humans and run over people with cars and find as many ways as they can to kill people.... There is even one where the goal is to r-a-p-e and kill as many women as you can. The more violent the way you kill them the more points you get.
And the violent movies where that is all they see is murder and gore. Over and over. It does effect your mentality. And it not only desensitizes people but also gives people ideas.
How many times have things happened that was basically a copy cat of something that had happened in the movies? So yes, it is because of evil in man's heart but there are things that effect that. But you cannot blame the video game because people have free will and they make choices.
-
In my world, I do have crazy people too, be careful all the time, sometimes ignorance with the kindness will save you.

Husband killing wives, mothers and fathers killing their kids, road rage. NOT the world I grew up in :(
Hello!
I ask myself that all the time and can never quite get an answer. Why can't we all just live in peace? I suppose when we are able to answer that question this world will be a better place. :angel11: :peace:

Hello!
We all here laying the blame but it's all of us really, and only we all can stop it!! :peace: :highfive:

It isn't me. I obey the law and do what is right. "I" cannot stop anything. Yes, if I personally could make the laws it would stop. But you have to cater to the pansy snowflakes.
-
It is horrible. It is so sad to see what we are exposed to on a daily basis.
-
Nor I! We can only pray the next generation to take over running the country will have more morals.
-
Wasn't it more worst back in the 90's ? Cause when I was a child It felt like it, My point of view of course.
-
It's crazy, right?
-
I don't think it's anything "new" - I think with the growth of technology, you're just able to hear about it more.
I will disagree that video games have caused violence, as there have been studies that have said otherwise. Correlation is not causation. Just because ice cream sales increase when murders increase, doesn't mean the ice cream consumption is the cause of murder. I guess that might just be the criminologist in me ;D
-
I see horrible things on the news that pops up on my phone which I would prefer didn't happen because it is distressing. I think if we knew the extent of it all at one time it would be more than we could bear.
-
I agree the world is getting crazier, you almost don't want to go out in it, but you do.

You don't kill people eating ice cream. You do kill people in video games. Constantly.

You do not have to allow news to pop up on your phone. YOU sign up for those things. I disabled all of that a few months ago because I got tired of seeing it.
Things are def worse. I don't get how people can not see that. When I was a kid you did not have the mass shootings. You did not have to worry about some physco coming in to the school or your church and blowing the crap out of every body they see. That did not happen.
-
Unfortunately, there is no escaping bad news unless we stop watching TV. We just have to be alert stay safe, and pray.
-
I blame parents and society. People have to have something more than a game to screw them up enough to kill.
