I work for a non profit and we had a big dinner Thursday night for our top donors. We were there until 10pm. When I got to work Friday morning, there was an email from our boss saying thanks for our work to make the dinner successful. He left a few tasks and then told us to go home and he'd pay us for the day! WOOOOOT
I can't remember working for such a generous employer!

You ate lucky love potlucks

That is a nice employer especially these days. Some employers want to get as much work from their employer as possible with the least amount of pay.
-
Some companies are very generous.

congrats on working for a great employer

It is great to be appreciated!

Congrats i try to be the best employee i can be good to see that.

That was very nice of your boss. In my field we would never be told to just do a few things and go home after a job well done. Since I truly love my job if that ever happened I would actually be sad I didn't get to finish my shift to get more done.

It's a blessing to have a good employer.

That was a nice surprise, hope you enjoyed the rest of the day off.

It's a nice feeling if appreciated. now a days hard to find a good employer.

That's really nice! Where my husband works, they had so many people want off for the day after the 4th that they offered anyone that was willing to work a half day would get paid for a full day. I thought that was a pretty good deal.

I am too as well.

It is really nice to work for a company that appreciates you. I left my employer of 20 years last year because of the stress and toxic environment, it got bad during the last 5 years and could not handle it any more. My new employer is pretty decent and also appreciated us.
good for you and your employer

I have had employers of all types when I worked. Some were generous and understanding, others not so much. It is always nice to have a surprise like that. It makes you feel special and valued. Things like this can make employees feel more loyal and work a bit harder at times. Too bad all employers don't understand that giving a little bit sometimes gets you something back!

I don't agree. Seems to me most times it makes the employee feel entitled and come to expect you to give them more and more.
Employers do not owe you anything more than the agreed upon compensation per hour and any benefits you were offered when you were hired.
I can see it both ways. But I am noticing more and more people think their employer should give them more and more. You are an employee. You agreed to take the job for the pay offered. I get tired of hearing people cry and complain and say they deserve more and should make as much as the owner of the company. No, you shouldn't.

I love employers like that! Care more about people then anything else and show appreciation...

I've had generous employers in the past, but they're usually self-employed and can make the decision to be that way.
Now I think it's pretty much a thing of the past. Too bad. Just like pensions.

It's a boss like that that keeps his employees happy and in good spirits so they don't quit. Lucky you for having a boss like that!

I too work for a non-profit Ministry, It is all volunteers. So we do not make any money, it all goes back into the Ministry. Of course it is only 5 hours because I go in early and we are only open 2 days a week. But it is hairy. This Tuesday I handled only 49 people getting groceries and the first 11/2 hours I did 30 people. then the rest was pretty evely space. But we have been known to push up to 80 people through n 4 hours. So this July the fourth we are closed and I have 6 days off and I am going to take advantage of resting.

A very nice employer. Lucky for you to be working there.

Work for a large corporation and have some generous bosses in the past and some not so generous but appreciate them when show a little kindness to their employees. Think that this motivates an employee and is good for moral.
