Title: no more taxes
Post by: dwiley11 on June 29, 2019, 12:36:48 pm
I can't believe that anyone says they want a person that will raise taxes.  Our economy is booming because of lower taxes.  When taxes go up economy goes down. I don't understand why people vote that way.

We have to be vigilant because the governing bodies sneak things along with other bills we like to get things into law that we do not want...for instance, more taxes!

We  sure don't need any more.  We are taxed out enough.

I also don't understand why someone would vote for people who want to raise taxes either, but people do. Sometimes people just vote a person because they belong to a political party, but I like to know what the person stands for before I vote.

   No more taxes, please!
Because everything, we buy and use, has already been taxed.
We do not need more taxes!

I don't mind paying higher taxes for things that are needed and improved upon like universal healthcare and better infrastructure.  What I don't want is for my money to be wasted.

I totally agree with you.  It's the way the democrats or, as Judge Janine says, Demonrats, have brainwashed the public into thinking socialism is good.   Capitalism bad.  And the media to to blame as well, because all they do is spout the Democrat party lines.

Democrats love raising taxes every time there in the office of any kind. It's kinda a joke because of most of the times those same Democrats who preach good things from the taxes usually lining their pockets from those taxes

This country would be in better shape if everyone paid their fair share of taxes.  I haven't seen any increase from the big tax break that was given by the current administration.

It is quite evident that some people don't have the slightest idea of what programs this country already has that are "socialistic" and that we have been living with for many years.  Let's see: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment insurance, public education, food stamps, public lands, etc.  Socialism provides safety net services for a population and the best government usually incorporates some parts of different philosophies to achieve the best end.

I believe that administration's use of taxes are the center of the problem. For instance, in Colorado a king's ransom in taxes (eighteen point nine percent) are collected from the sale of Marijuana. Two hundred and forty seven million dollars was collected in two thousand and seventeen. The lion's share goes to human services, local affairs, Public health and environment. Twenty percent supposedly goes to education yet teachers do not seem to be benefiting as their salaries are among the lowest in the nation (34th where the cost of living is 3.2% higher than the national average). The teachers are driving cars that they can not afford while the administration is driving luxury cars. Every year we are asked to vote for increased taxes for education when this sector can not manage the money they are getting. We are asked to vote for taxes to build better road ways when money is squandered on useless highway expansions (my wife is an engineer and I have a friend on the state council). It isn't just at the state level. We just witnessed the reallocation of funds from the military to the border wall. Obviously there was an unwarranted surplus. We need honest people to administer the administrators.

I don't like the idea of any taxes being raised and think taxes are plenty high enough. I feel like Washington would have more money if they denied more to the pork wasteful spending projects of many politicians. In my city millions were spent a rarely used trolley car and a prison that wasn't fully built and abandoned. Who knows how much could be saved if policies like those never saw the light of day rather than harmful tax cuts that only bleed the American tax payer.

The people who want higher taxes are not paying any taxes. Welfare is not taxable income. The people who get food stamps don't pay tax on the things they buy. The welfare checks - they do not have to pay taxes.  So yes, they are for the working man being taxed more.  They think it will be a raise for them.

This is true.  There are people who will vote for their party no matter what.  They don't care what the person stands for or even what the party stands for.  They have always been x party so that is who they will vote for.  I use to have a neighbor who is crazy.  He is like that.  He will vote for his party no matter what.

People are too stupid to look at these other countries that converted to socialism and now the people are being shot in the streets by their own government and fighting for a slice of bread.  And bernie boy who says oh well they didn't do it right is crazy.  No they done it right.  It doesn't work.  The only people who are for this system are the people who do not work and think that by converting the country it will give them more money.  That isn't how it works.

Well my paycheck went up and I pay less in taxes so the tax break worked for me.  It worked for everyone I know.  Honestly, there should be a flat tax.  No brackets.  You pay x amount of your income.  You pay it whether it is from working a job or a welfare check.  You pay 10% of your income.  Everyone pays.  That is what is fair.  If somebody else makes more money then they will already pay more taxes.  No they should not have to give more than 10% of the money they get.

The 10% rule would be great and fair for everyone, but getting politicians to get this into law may never happen anytime soon.

I don't see it ever happening.  But that way everyone pays the same percentage of their income.  I have actually heard people say people who are rich should have to give half their income.  I am not sure what part of ignorant you have to be to think that is fair.  Some people work harder than others and have more money.  They should not have to give up half their income because someone else is lazy and is happy working at Subway 10 hours a week just so they make enough to have gas money. Unfortunately I know someone like that.

timvvolley - Bet you don't beat out PA who has the distinction of having the highest gas taxes in the country at $.58.2 per gallon.

dreamyxo- PA also has the distinction of having the worse roads in all 50 states. Some counties allowed Harrisburg to pass an extra $5 on license registrations to cover "road and bridges." Our county is one....yet we still don't see any road construction. We see pothole patching with stuff that doesn't stay in the potholes and tarring cracks. The big cities get the construction and bridge rebuilds. One of the bridges in my county is a major thoroughfare and was built in 1922. This past spring, part of the rebar and cement fell into the river...what did they do? Closed that side off to PEdESTRIAN traffic!  Oh, they have plans to put another bridge in but they're taking the houses on the one side, and leaving the empty field on the other  worse side intact....and the best news is they will be starting it in 2022. This route carries around 75,000 cars and heavy trucks a day. Do ya think it will last that long?

WHY?  Why should someone who worked hard and made more money have to pay a higher percentage of taxes?

Do you even have any idea what makes a program socialistic? Welfare and "safety nets" are not the same as socialism.

Neither socialism nor capitalism are good. You are going to see taxes, regardless of what political system we're in. That's why we candidates to support are our democracy and to fight for our rights as an individual.

Yes you are going to see taxes.  But some of the D idiots who are running have clearly stated they WILL raise taxes significantly.  I guess if you are drawing a government check and don't pay taxes anyway and stand to by what they are promising get more free money you are all for it.  People who do not pay taxes should not get a vote as to what the people who do pay have to pay.

Kind of like locally I have heard a lot of people (and I agree with this) say they think you should not be able to vote if you are not a property owner. Too many leeches who don't strike a lick at anything having a say in how things are run.  Voting for things that in order for it to happen property taxes would be increased by more than $50.

I read your post country girl and have to laugh!  I live in PA (the land of the potholes and falling bridges).  We have a bridge over 80 years old very heavily traveled, not getting fixed yet.  I hold my breath when I cross it!  Love to know what are taxes are paying for, its not roads or repairs.

Not sure why you are responding to someone else's comment and calling me name and laughing at me.  If you want to pay more in taxes then go donate some money.  I am sure they would take it.  I personally am taxed to the max.  I cannot afford any more.  And just because they take more money from you for taxes doesn't mean you are going to get them pot holes fixed.

Exactly.  And the ones who make more money ARE going to pay more.  So then the crybabies who are not rich can be happy.  The rich pay more.  But they want it where the upper class pay half their income and they pay like 1%.  lol  Don't nobody owe you anything!

Not only did the gas tax double but they raised the price of yearly license plates also.  Our real estate for the second half went up 2,200.00 dollars which we were not prepared for.  Time to start thinking about moving out of state but not sure I want to be away from kids and not sure where to go.

Oh sorry.  Then I misunderstood. I thought you were laughing at me. :(  We have a new budget passed and it includes a major tax hike (locally) and they are wanting to implement a wheel tax at $40 or more.  It is ridiculous.  Several of the demos that are in the run for 2020 have clearly stated they WILL raise taxes.  Most of us average joes cannot pay any more.  I do not agree with raising the taxes on those with more money either.

Everyone needs to pay a flat rate.  Even those on welfare.  Your welfare money needs to be taxed.  Let's make this fair.

Oh yeah, I forgot our tag price went up by around $5 a couple years ago.  A lot of people are moving out of my county.  It doesn't matter where you go.  There are problems every where.  The people who make the rules are greedy.  They get stars in their eyes and can vote themselves huge pay raises. At our expense.  We don't get a huge pay raise.

President Trump  has sure helped the  economy  wit lower taxes, But some of the in coming  democrats who are wanting to be president want to give every going to college (free college), free insurance,  free everything.  Where  do they think all of this  ree stuff is going to be  paid from. Well it is going to be paid  for my  us. Those  who are working, the people retired.  Dang sure won't be  paid for by those on Welfare and the those in government (who  won't have to pay somehow or other) and the high taxes imposed on the rich who hire people to work.  Nothing in this  world id is free, but that somewhere  else  we will  have to pay for it. I am going to vote for Trump again .
