My BBQ grill just rusted out and fell apart last week so no BBQ for the 4th of July for us. I guess we'll just hang out and take it easy and maybe get takeout.

I am going to take advantage of not having to do a darn thing.  Stay cool and relax.  I am not going to town , not  working at the Ministry as we are closed and stay cool.  Been kind of burned out lately what with the hot, hotter weather. It has been in the triple degrees  off and on  here the last  couple of weeks, mostly on.  Takes a toll on you at  my age.

cooking out and then going to see the fireworks. I used to put on my own show when the kids were younger but they grew up and have their own family. Also they are a few hundred miles away. Have fun all :)

At first I had nothing planned at all. I was just going to rest since my mother can't eat barbecued foods and we had no plans to cook anything. But earlier today I spoke to one of the church members and we decided to go to her house tomorrow and talk and she is going to cook a fish dinner. After I get back I might watch some fireworks that our neighbors do in the parking lot.

It IS a legal holiday, everything Federal is closed and no postal mail going out or delivered!

We get the usual neighborhood fireworks, until late at night!  It starts tonight at midnight.

Cooking out at our home, daughter and boyfriend are coming over and hiding in the basement with the dogs as both are scared of the fireworks.  They don't like thunderstorms either.  Tired the thunder shirts, benadryl and even prescription medicine from the vet but nothing works

As long as the weather holds I plan to do yard work during the day and maybe catch the local firework show at night. Over the weekend I hope to see Toy Story 4.

Didn't do a whole lot really, the day started out a bit sketchy as my mom got in an argument with her hubby (she's 84 and he's an a$$) and took off walking, so my sister went and got her. Things quieted down and everything there turned out OK, but it's happened before and will probably happen again :( My sis and I do sales online and we had a busy couple hours with customers, but after that I got lazy pretty much! I just watched the Macy's Fireworks event, my daughter and her fiance were actually there!!! Alas, I never saw them on TV though :( I'm sure she'll have some great pics though!! Happy 4th everyone  :)   :star:  :moon:  :peace:

I worked yesterday 7a-7p.  Came home and changed into some shorts and flip flops and walked down to the local lake where all the festivities were taking place.  I visited with people and just watched the kids jumping off the dock and kayaking.  I then joined our neighbors on their driveway and watched the fireworks.  It was a great day!

People around here are still shooting of fireworks all the time. That's what I like least about the Fourth of July.

I heard about a lot of accidents this year during fireworks celebrations. Always so sad and needless.  :sad1:

Long hours! Glad you could still enjoy the day.

Enjoyed this --long-- 4th of July celebration this year since some events started on the 3rd and continued through to the 6th of July in north Texas.  Of course, it sounds like "the bombs bursting in air" outside, but we all learned how to employ the duck-and-cover technique in elementary school drills.  LOL

Here is a photo of the 2nd day of 'two days of fireworks' known as the Lone Stars & Stripes Celebration taken from near the pond on the east side of the Park.

We had a nice dinner for the fourth of July this year. I didn't buy any fireworks because I was planning on going out this year, but it rained pretty much all day so we just stayed home.

I love fireworks so go to as many as possible.  Went to 3 different ones this year.  Cookout with family which includes mine and my daughter's birthdays.  She is a week before me.  Granddaughters are here visiting from across the country.
