I have noticed people who post online randomly capitalize letters in words -- for example they type...
YoU caN gEt thIs for FrEE
I am assuming there is some stupid point behind this behavior. It looks foolish and is harder to read. I have even noticed people on this site doing it. I just wondered if anybody knows what the point in doing this is? It also would be harder to type, in my opinion.
Do anybody know why people do this?

No idea, I've seen it and don't understand either.
-
I don't know. I agree that it is annoying and it seems like it would be harder to type.
-
I am sure there is some hidden meaning behind it. And yes it is harder to type. It was when I typed the example.
I remember a stupid woman who was convicted of some crime because she had a habit of capitalizing one certain letter every time she wrote it. It was like the letter B and even if she typed Better or BuBBly every time she wrote that certain letter she capitalized it. It's a writing style. Kind of like certain people on here with multiple accounts. Their writing style gives them away as to who they are. lol
Anyway, this woman had written some anonymous letters and when she was questioned by police she was asked to give a writing sample which she did. And this is actually what got her caught. The look on her face when she was told that was priceless. haha

In some cases I think it's done to force people to carefully read the text. You are right that it is hard to type. It is also difficult to read as easily as normal text. So that could be the reason if someone is trying to get you to click or read something more closely and really comprehend it.
But in most cases I think it is just people intentionally being annoying.

I have no idea, but my 13 year old daughter does that sometimes.
-
Some other kids typed like that sometimes when I was in school. I guess it's supposed to look crazy and random which kids find hilarious. When adults do it, I have no idea.
-
I haven't seen that yet. seems a little weird.

Yeah I just skip over it. As well as most other people. I don't have time for games. You want your message read then type it so it is legible. Same with when people type in all caps. It is harder to read. So I usually just skip it.

Ask her WHY? Then come back and tell us. lol

I'll try to remember when I get home from work, haha

As promised - I asked my daughter. She referenced this Sponge Bob meme. Apparently it is a way to express intonation (ie, sarcasm) through texting. She also said it's silly and she does it only if she wants to sound "dumb." So there ya go.

Well okay then. I have seen people posting on Pinterest and doing this. And like I said a few do it on here. I just skip the post because I am not going to strain to try to figure out what any posting says. haha
I don't even know what to do with that information. lol. I thought it meant something more than that. haha
Thank you! :D

Thank you for fulfilling my "You-Learn-Something-New-Every-Day" quota for the day! I added a forum Thank you to your tally!

It is supposed to make an impact to type things in caps. It kind of aggravates me in most cases. And makes me no more likely to buy something.
-
I understand people capitalizing full words but only capitalizing certain letters in a word? That is definitely odd lol. I guess maybe people are trying to stand out somehow? But it definitely comes across as annoying.

no need to read into how people post

I am not trying to read in to anything. I just assume this means something. Like I said I just skip those posts.
I have also noticed when people get in a habit of doing this they also without thinking do it on applications for jobs. Or using thinks like idk. That is not going to get you hired.
I remember a few years ago a guy let his stupid girlfriend fill out his application to work in the company I was working in and she fills it out with pink ink, dots the I's with hearts, and a bunch of other stupid stuff. Then SHE signed HIS name on the application. Yeah, he wasn't even considered.

It is a computer glitch. I edit and double check all my Forum postings for errors
before I click "post" it. And guess what? Some are ported with errors or omissions of
words. Who is to blame?
-
I don't really know why they do it. Looks really dumb. Probably doing it to irritate some people.
-
Communication is hard enough without it.
-
I see it on Twitter... it's that sponge bob meme & whatever typed is usually something intentionally stupid in response to something the original poster wrote, or someone who replied, that they were trying to convey that they think is stupid... as it is so dumb, hurr durr kind of thing.. like they are responding back to someone who is mentally challenged or mimicking the poster as being mentally challenged... & often that sponge bob pictures of him bending over is used in gif or jpg.

I have never seen it. My guess is I just ignore it.
