Title: Apple Picking
Post by: dsosnowski06 on September 09, 2019, 08:20:14 pm
Went apple picking in a orchard in Indiana and really enjoyed the day.  Was able to get my favorite type of apple Honeycrisp  for much cheaper than the stores are selling them. Also love the experience of picking my own.  What is your favorite type of apple?

My favorite eating apples are yellow Golden Delicious. But I buy all sorts of different apples for pies, depending on what it available to me.

We have an Orchard. We grow Apples, Peaches and Pears. These are the Fruits that my Husband loves to eat. I love Golden Delicious Apples. They are so sweet tasting to me and juicy. I am going to try and make some Homemade Apple Pies. I have never made them before, so I hope they turn out really good.

I don't really have a favorite apple, because I'm not a big apple fan. But I would enjoy a beautiful fall day in an apple orchard just for the fun of it! I've never been on an apple-picking adventure, but I think I would love it!  :peace:

We have a great orchard nearby that always has autumn activities going on each year for the kids and adults. They have an option for picking your own apples I believe, but we usually just pick from the bushel baskets inside their storefront.

I enjoy all kinds, but golden delicious are my favorite.

Honey Crisp makes awesome applesauce with no sugar needed. Our church has an annual fall dinner and one of the members owns an orchard, so he brings down a truck with huge boxes full of Honey Crisp for us to take home all we want.

When I was W-A-Y younger lol and didn't have such mobility issues AND we lived in a different state cause Florida isn't an apple growing state we used to do some apple picking.  Awesome for you to be able to do.

I have never been apple picking, but I remember my grandmother's family lived in the mountain in Virginia.  I took her and my great aunt to there house one year and they went apple picking while my daughter and I went to the lake.  They had such funny stories to tell when they got home.

Apple picking sounds so fun and autumnal, I've never lived in a place that had it so I've never been. Hope I get to give it a whirl someday.

We usually get Gala.  THey are firm, not too sweet and not too tart.  :)

I like all apples, although   I am sort of picky when it comes to  baking apple  pies.  Some apples  are  just not for baking. But  for the most part I will eat any kind of apple because  I like them all.  I don't have apple trees any more  so  I will be going over to the neighbors and pick them.  I will put a few into the freezer already make up into pies and then the rest  we will be picking them and then taking them to the Ministry of Hope. He donates them every year outside of what he may put up which is just a drop in the barrel  compared to what he donates.

We used to go apple picking when the kids were young.  If we went on the weekend of the Festival, they had horse drawn wagons that took people out to the trees.  You could be dropped off at different varieties of apples.  Haralson, Honey Crisp, Cortland are some of the varieties that I liked.

I don’t know. I guess I like Cortland, Pink Lady, and MacIntosh. Sometimes, I wonder if MacIntosh had been Steve Jobs’s favorite apple since there have been many generations of Apple computers by that name.

We used to go apple picking every September when the kids were little up til they were married and moved away.  The orchard we visited had a big Fall Festival with inflatables for the kids, a petting zoo, pony rides, and horse drawn wagon rides out to the trees.  It was great fun.

I don't really have a favorite apple because I do not eat apples that much, but I do enjoy eating them when I do have a taste for one.

When I was a child we had our own apple trees to pull from.  It was ok but not a great time to pull apples.  It gets tiring.

I like to pick medium apples! Not big ones! Out of piles not off trees!

My favorite is Honey Crisp. They're so nice and sweet.

They're also more expensive but it's one thing I'll pay a little more for.  :moneymouth:
