How does one face time someone?
-
It is on my Iphone, I just click the facetime icon and click on the plus sign in the top right corner and type the persons name or first few letters and their name will pop up.

Can I do it on my laptop?

I don't know, I can't on mine. I have never tried to look for an app though. You can maybe google it to see if there is an app.

You can use Facetime if you have an Apple Computer.. it's already built in on the Apple when you purchase it.
I'm not aware of being able to use Facetime on a PC, probably an app to download BUT I know you can use Skype video chat/calls on a pc. Just download & sign-up.
Good Luck on your quest :)

If you ever do figure out the face time thing, I have a word of advice: Keep a hand close to the volume control on your phone. Depending on who you are speaking with and how many people are on the other end, it can easily get loud and shrill.
My husband occasionally uses face time with his daughter and her 2 kids. Even when I'm all the way on the other side of the house, I have to go and turn the volume down on his phone. They don't mean to be loud but I find it irritating. That's just me.

Facetime can be very convenient. I am making a kilt for my son-in-law for Halloween. I had a question about his preference concerning the selvage of the material, and it was so nice to be able to Facetime with questions where we could see and talk at the same time! I hope you get it figured out!

I have heard of that but I really don't know what it is or much at all about it but the name.

Actually you can FaceTime on a PC by using BlueStacks emulator.

I've never used a video chat app. I have my webcam covered at all times. I may be the only one, but I think video chat is kind of creepy. Sometimes on web meetings for work, someone will have their webcam on, and it makes me very uncomfortable to see them staring at me through the screen even if my own camera isn't on. It feels very invasive.

I facetime with my grandson just about every night. I only get to see him in person every 2-3 weeks because he lives so far away. Facetime lets me visit him more often although I can't feel his hugs, he gives me kisses over the phone.
-
Never used it....
-
I don't have an iPhone so I can't say. Haha!
-
You can use Facebook messenger. It has lots of filters that kids like to use.
-
i havent heard of this

Thank you Oldbuddy I didn't know that

Oldbuddy: Thank you for the info.
-
I just use facebook messenger to make video calls.

All I know about Face Time is that you will need an Apple product and Internet to make the call, There might be some other methods that require downloading software and such that enables it on Windows but I have no clue on that.

You may not, but Google has clues on every question we may come up with, including this one. But then Google does not pay you 10,cents to ask the question like Fusioncash does.

This is the first time I've heard of face time. But then I don't have an IPhone either.
-
I have it on my I phone, but I have not used it; even though my Goddaughters have tried to get me to do so as they believe in using every app that is on the phone; I just want to make/receive calls and text when necessary.
-
My 10 year old uses it with friends. He is a nerd when it comes to technology. I am absolutely clueless.
-
It is an application that (I believe) is only available to iPhone users. It is an awesome and convenient way to keep in touch with people. I recently purchased an iPhone and I use Facetime extensively to keep in touch with my long-distance boyfriend.
-
Facetime is only available for apple products, (iPhone, Macs), you can always use Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp if you have it, they are pretty good. There is an app called Google Duo that you can also use to Video chat.
I love to video chat (faceboodk Messenger) with my grandson every night when he does not come home. My granddaughter Facetime me when they are on the road and I Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp Video Chat with my parents and in-laws since they are in another country. It is the best way to see their faces since they are not around.
-
I think it depends on what kind of phone yo have. On my Apple IPhone I go into my contacts and if the other person has facetime set up on their phone, you just click on that button.
-
never used it..my granddaughters use it all the time

i think it is incredible 1. that this forum allows information to be shared like this. but 2. because the original poster came to this forum instead of looking up the question online. i assume the question was asked in the first place because the op is from the older generation. from my experience with my parents, older people never thing to look up their questions on the internet. It's either someone around me knows how to do it or it simply can't be done.

I think at age 81 I would be considered "older", but I use Google and YouTube to look for answers most every day.

I use it on my laptop sometimes, but don't like to.

I don't see your point. I never even thought of finding out on YouTube or google. I just don't see why it bothers you that I asked on here?

I love facetime, I talk to my grandsons who live across the country every few days on it. I sometimes talk to their parents too! LOL I use, my iPhone, ipad, laptop and desktop. Once you do it, it is so simple, you will wonder what the problem was.
