Title: Personal Information
Post by: 1imaginarygirl on November 12, 2019, 11:08:21 am
Anyone else notice an increase lately in surveys requesting your personal information (name, address, email, phone, etc)? I've had three surveys in the last 10 minutes request it. It's one thing if they're going to send me a product to evaluate. But chances are I'm not going to qualify for the survey, so I don't really see the reason for providing all my info up front.

Another one! Literally the next survey I attempted after posting this asked for all my info for "validation". Sheesh.

They have it anyway.  They know who you are when you do a survey.  I agree they don't need it again.

Yeah most of the surveys now want to get your information

I have had a few like that recently, I by past them; as I  our personal information is already floating around there in the cyber world; so if I can avoid giving it  out then I do and go on to another survey.

I sometimes give it out and like someone else said they have it anyway. Sometimes I give it, sometimes I just pass.

It's one thing if they're going to send me a product to evaluate.
Only for this and they usually are at the end of the survey for me do I feel okay in giving out my personal information. And, if the survey leads to another survey site to be a member of if I want to.

Yes, I've noticed that as well. I'm thinking it has to do with getting your physical address in order to sell it to other places. Really underhanded if you ask me! I guess there's always been companies that are less than truthful, but it seems like that's the majority these days. :peace:

I have a response set up on my AutoHotKey for these  "I don't supply personal details this early in a survey"

Yes, & I feel the same way.  I don't mind posting my info because like Country Girl stated, they already have our info.  What I do click out of is if they start asking for name, etc... right at the beginning without any kind of warning or guarantee that they'll pay out for the full survey.

Personally, I haven't noticed a lot of surveys asking for personal information lately. In my opinion, those type of surveys usually want to send you some type of product(s).

When I do encounter surveys such as those, however, I elect not to do them. I am very wary of them.

Still regretting giving my phone number to verify something now I get some Chinese spam call every day even though I don't understand a single word. Have already tried blocking the number but problem is its calling from multiple numbers no matter how much I block.

I've gotten those Chinese calls too. I have an app called YouMail that does a pretty good job of blocking spam calls. And even if one does get through, you can report it as spam so they can block it for other people.

Not sure how you are able to do this and send that message.  First off, I am sure they could care less.  Second, when it pops up and asks for a name or an address you have to enter in the correct format.  I doubt they even see your message.

You can always put in fake info.  I want to think it was imaginarygirl that said she got that at the end of a survey and she entered NEVER MIND for a name?  Someone on here done that.  Which I thought was a hilarious response. haha

I done one yesterday and the first question asked for a first and last name.  The second was full address.  I did not provide either and was disqualified.  I think I did get a couple of cents for clicking the link lol

I got a call from Jamaica a couple days ago. I get calls from there often.  If you done this type thing a lot it would be worth getting a burn phone.  Then they can call all they want.  I have several hundred numbers blocked.

It seems like everyone - not just surveys- want our personal information any more.  I try to be careful with what I put out there. ???

I DID THAT! Haha! I don't think that survey was revoked either. Well not yet anyway.  ;D

I thought that was you.  I got a huge laugh out of that.  Hopefully you won't lose your credit.  If they want personal info they need to tell you upfront so you can decide if you want to proceed.

When I see surveys like that, I immediately cancel the survey.  I don't register or give anyone personal info like that.

I skip those because I don't want to give out the info and I don't want to receive a bunch of junk mail which makes more work for me in destroying it.  I have gotten maybe 5 in a row at times.  Everyone's info is already out there anyway.
