How many people have experience with this program? It seems good from what I have heard but was curious....

Sorry I can't help firsthand.  I have cameras installed by my security company, but one of my husband's friends has them and loves them.

I know there have been incidents where they have been hacked in to but that can happen with any camera that is online or over wifi.  If you can see the camera on your cell phone so can other people.  My uncle has a camera in his car and he has seen things on his screen in his car that was picked up off cameras from houses he has driven by.  Maybe they do not have passwords?

Many neighbors have it and have had no issues thus far with it.

I have a RING doorbell... and I don't know if it is all that great. If you hear it ring or get notification if there is movement, you then have to bring it up on your phone or pad & it is't instantaneous & by the time you bring it up the person, or movement is gone. The only thing is it does record who or what it was, but you have to pay extra monthly to get that, it's cheap like $3 a month.   I believe it is more of a determent for thefts & that is a good thing.

We have one and since I am home all day most of the time, it is just as good as being monitored for $30 to $50 a month. At least I really care what goes on at our house.

Thanks for that info.  I did not know you had to pay a monthly fee.  I thought it was mine if I purchased it.  And then you hook it up to your wifi.

I care what goes on at my house but I am not going to pay RING $50 a month to monitor my front door.  You can get your own cameras and connect to your wifi and it records and it is yours and you pay nothing past the initial cost of the camera.

I have been thinking about getting one of those but don't want to pay for something that is useless.  I may have to check out connecting our own camera through our wifi.

I don't care to ever have anything like this.  Don't entirely trust that I am not being watched through my web cam as it is.  I think these things leave people pretty venerable.

Tape something over your camera on your computer.  As far as being watched thru it you can see if it is activated.

I think oldbuddy meant that Ring is just as good as the professional security services that charge more. Ring doesn't cost $50/mo, I think it's around $10/mo.

Edit: I googled the cost: Basic costs $3 per month or $30 for the year per device; Protect costs $10 per month or $100 for year, and it covers an unlimited amount of Ring cameras, offers a lifetime product warranty and gives you an additional 10% off future purchases at Ring.com.

But why do I need "them" to monitor the cameras?  I would rather have the camera and the pictures are send to me not come cloud somewhere, where they are never deleted.  Kind of like text messages.  Cell companies say they do not keep the contents of the text messages over a few days. BUT if the police want them all of a sudden they are available from several years back.

I have a family member that has one, and she can see on her phone what is happening at her home, even when she is miles away.

My sister has one for a couple of years and it's been handy in a few different incidents so far. She only has the doorbell thing but as I understand it you can add as many other bells and whistles as you want to the system.
