We have a big steak and shrimp dinner on Christmas Eve. I am excited, what about you?
-
I think I will make lasagna which became a tradition for my mom when she was alive and my Italian in-laws although now that they are gone I can admit I hated their version of Italian food as my mother-in-law loaded her sauce with sugar (LOL no wonder I am diabetic now - just a joke). I will make lasagna, salad and I am going to splurge with a little really good chocolate candy and a butter cream iced vanilla cake with raspberry filling. Darn I am now drooling.

I'm eating honey-glazed ham, broccoli-cheese casserole, yams, and rolls.

Totally! My girlfriend puts insane amounts of sugar in her tomato sauce I will never understand it! It is not supposed to be sweet in my mind either. It's Italian food not dessert! lol

Our big meal for Christmas day is at lunchtime at my dad's cabin in the North Georgia mountains. We will probably be having prime rib, some kind of potatoes, some kind of green vegetable, and, of course, some kind of dessert! At suppertime (back home), we'll usually have leftovers that we have brought home from the big lunch meal. :peace:
-
We always make a buffet style dinner. pasta, wings, cold cut platter, mozzarella sticks, and for treats, cream cheese cookies, homemade cannolis homemade banana bread and other cookies and cakes. and that is just for christmas eve
-
Have not given it much thought, just the hubby and I so may go out to dinner or just cook dinner lasike we do on any given day.
-
Honey-glazed ham, mash potatoes, corn and dinner rolls! Yum!
-
I'll be working and they will serve turkey stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans. That's what they had the last two years so I'm assuming it will be the same. They had some kind of pasta I think it was lasagna for the vegetarians.
-
i have no idea what we are having christmas dinner. i am having christmas with my cousin. we haven't christmas together in over 20 years. growing up christmas eve dinner was formal and christmas was a pasta dish. :present: :peace:

We celebrate Christmas at my daughter's house and her husband usually smokes something wonderful in his smoker outside even if it is cold out. I can't wait. His smoked meats are very tasty.
-
That is a good question. I may be home alone or I may be at one of my kids' houses so who knows! If I am home alone, something very simple and easily prepared. I may even get something from a favorite deli I have in my town. At my youngest daughter's house, my son-in-law likes steak and chicken and she is a vegetarian. They fix a mixture of the two options so I would have a bit of both type of dishes.

We will almost the same thing we had for Thanksgiving with some changes.
-
Probably nothing :(
-
I didn't know this was or has to be a thing but for the question a scrambled egg and cheese, bacon sandwich with left over apple pie. :)

You did not know Christmas Dinner was a thing?

I will either go to family members house or cook something, but haven't decided yet.

Every Christmas my immdiate Family get igether. We have Ham, Green Beans, Collards, Corn and Potato Salad. We have all kinds of Desserts. Too many to mention. The most important part is that we are all together.
-
A Honey Glazed Spiral ham, broccoli, peas, Rolls, Caramel Cake and shrimp. Not sure if I will increase what I am making.
-
Yearly Christmas Dinner does change a little bit, we either have Turkey or Ham, or sometimes Both, plus all the usuals, mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade rolls, deviled eggs, stuffing, green bean casserole, and Pecan Pie
on Christmas Eve, we always order a pizza, then open our presents
-
I am switching it up this year and having soups and chili beans with some sliders, I am not going crazy like I have in the past. We still have Christmas day breakfast for the whole family.
-
The last few years my mom has been making chicken with filling. I am pretty sure that is what we are having this year too.

Can we come to your place? ;) You;'re making me drool.

We will probably have glazed ham, potato filling, and a veggie. He only likes the spiral sliced hams and I usually get 8 meals from one ham. If he doesn't want me to cook, he'll go to the restaurant over the mountain for take out and I'll have turkey, potato filling and sweet potatoes. This time I hope to have my piece of pumpkin pie and he'll have apple pie. He forgot the pies at Thanksgiving.

On Christmas Eve we have neighbors over and we have snack foods. We have chips and dip, cheese ball and crackers, cheese and beef sausage with crackers, meatballs and then homemade candy and cookies. Christmas Day we have ham and some kind of vegetables.
-
This year its an Italian buffet. We cook pasta and prepare marinara sauce and alfredo sauce. Then we have Italian sausage, homemade meatballs, seasoned chicken and shrimp. Also garlic breadsticks. People are in charge of making their own plate of pasta.
-
Since Thanksgiving was a disaster at my sister's house. My family has asked for me to do the Thanksgiving dinner for Christmas instead of the usual ham and homemade polish sausage.
-
I always make a ham and mashed potatoes and a vegi, and for New Years we have Chinese, is it New Years yet haha
-
I will be eating whatever delicious-ossity that my wife decides to make that wonderful day. I prefer to eat ham on Christmas, having just eaten turkey in November. But my wife prefers turkey to ham. Since she does the cooking, I usually just let her pick what we have and don't complain! Maybe she will surprise me this year with a wild card and do a beef roast instead.

Some people put a little sugar in tomato sauce when they are making it from scratch to get rid of the tomato acidity taste, especially if you use tomato paste -- perhaps your gf, or someone in her family, started off this way & just kept adding more & more sugar & now they think super sweet is the way it is supposed to be? I agree with you though, tomato sauce shouldn't be sweet. Prego sauce in the jar is way too sweet also, supposed to be a savory dish. To each their own... lol
-
Im going to my parents for Christmas,my mom is making meat loaf, mashed potato's corn and buns ,she says she tired of having turkey lol
-
I'm not sure what we will be having. We planned to go to a cousins house in NC but not certain if they still having the gathering. If they cancel out, we will grab something from a restaurant because I'm not cooking.
-
