I saw a pic earlier on TV of crash site.Horrible.Looks like copter flew right into hill.
So why doesnt a copter warn pilot of on-coming hill if too foggy?
Why does only 1 person pilot a copter?Shouldnt there be also a co-pilot like on a plane?
This accident seems like it could have been avoided. <sad&sigh>

I am interested to see what happens with this. I wish they wouldn't have decided to fly that day. :(

I heard that.Ya wonder if pilot knew that and got told to fly anyway.
Like Challenger disaster shouldnt have happened either.

I agree that the helicopter should not have been flying in such conditions. I also was unaware that in a helicopter there is only 1 pilot. Situation is so sad for so many. Hopefully we will learn more as investigation continues. I live about 20 minutes from where this happened and my husband works nearby the Mamba facility they were going to.

I live near Sherman Oaks and slept in until about 1PM on Sunday. When I woke up and opened my blinds the sky was gray and foggy still and according to the news it was like that for most of the day. There's no way anyone should have been flying.

I don't know anything about helicopters but I would reason that there's only one pilot because there's so little space anyway. One more crew equals one less passenger, which probably means more cost and less income.

Just so sad. Prayers for all the families.

Ecclesiastes 9:11 King James Version (KJV)
11 I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

He was especial trained for fog conditions years ago. The pilot circled 15 minutes before taking off when he got clearance from Air traffic controllers.
