Title: Toilet Paper Grrrrrrr
Post by: debidoo on March 23, 2020, 11:45:23 am
When I read don't hoard toilet paper there is going to be no shortage of it I should have gone right out and stockpiled a bunch because I am now resorting to doing some major conservation efforts on what I do have available.  I go early to my store tomorrow in a reserved time for senior citizens so I am hoping and praying I can at least get one package.  LOL 66 years old and have always used as much TP as I wanted.  Are any of you low stocked on TP?

Currently we seem to be stocked.  BUT, with 4 in the house, we do go through it.
I would think that if everyone would stop stockpiling/hoarding tp, the supply would right itself in a short time.

If we do run out, I have kleenex tissues to help us out.

If it gets continually worse, I imagine I can cut up old t-shirts and go back in time to when we had babies in cloth diapers.  Rinse, soak, wash, reuse.

Here's a calculator to help you to determine how long you have until you run out.  :silly:

We schedule our toilet paper purchases, from Costco, once every three months at which time we purchase their largest pack. We were scheduled to buy toilet paper on March first-not even realizing how bad it was. We still had a month's worth of toilet paper but we are creatures of habit. I ordered a twelve pack of crummier toilet paper (White cloud) at a three hundred percent markup on eBay. We also have a tight knit group of friends that has kept track of when items are delivered to the stores and a few have even bribed clerks in order to have advance notice on shipments. I also have an old client/friend that is a regional manager for Walmart and he has kept me in the loop. Last week my wife was able to get a twelve pack of cottonelle and I picked up a twelve pack of Charmin so we are close enough to our regular stash. We also stocked up on dry goods and put together two grocery packages for our kids.

We got the last medium-sized box of toilet paper from an online office supply site. This was, of course, after we couldn't find any at the grocery store because of the hoarders and those wanting to sell the rolls for five bucks a pop. Here's hoping you get the toilet paper you need tomorrow morning! I'll be thinking about you!  :peace:

We had a decent back stock before all of this went down, so I think we'll be ok. Feel bad for those people who are running short though!

LMAO! I can't believe someone made a site to track how long toilet paper will last! This will probably help some people out, though.

I pray that you will be able to get something in soon.  I had a stockpile already.  I would pick up extras  on an
ongoing bases in an effort to not run out

Hopefully, you are able to find some; we have had the same problem in our area. We are ok in our house; only because when I shopped in the pass and saw stufff like that on sale I would just pick up an extra pack. Thank goodness, it is just my hubby and i in the house so we should be okay. Stores in our now have a limit on how much each customer can purchase on the hot bucket items like toilet tissue, paper towels etc.. to make sure everyone can get what they need; but sometimes it is still hard.

My family and I were overseas on vacation when the crisis hit, I asked my cousin to buy me some toilet paper if she found some, since I was not home.  She purchased a 24 roll pack.  But we are 4 in my house and my oldest daughter lives in her own apartment with her husband, son and a roommate.  We were all overseas, so now we are hunting for toilet paper ourselves, with 7 people we need quite a bit of it, my husband and I go every morning to Target, as soon as the opened and but a pack each (the limit you to 1 pack per person) sometimes are packs of 6 rolls sometimes packs of 9 rolls, and split them between us and my daughter's household.  My daughter is a nurse and she works every morning can't make it on time.  Her husband is home but has no car to move around and with a 4 years old at home I rather he stays home.  The roommate also works for health system and has to work mornings, So here I am trying to hoard as much toilet paper as I can for 2 households.

Also, stores are been ridiculous, my husband got the last pack of 9 rolls of Charmin and paid $20 for it, they should do something about Gouging prices,  Granted Charmin is expensive but not $20 worth of it.

I wish people would be consider it of others, I go to Costco every other day but have not been lucky to get from them.  1 of those would be very helpful for my family.

Yes - I'll be low setocked soon.  I checked one store the other day - none there.  Like you, I may go during the early senior hours in hopes of getting some.  I don't want to get in a serious situation!  :o

Ok Update, I went to Costco this morning with my youngest daughter, she has her own membership thru College, and hold and behold, they has Tons of TP, the lady said they had just received the shipment, of course, as it should be, they are limiting 1 per member, so I took one for my house and my daughter took 1 for my oldest daughter house, with this we should be good for a few weeks, which is good for me.  I never tough the day would come when I need it to hoard TP!

Luckily before all of this happened we bought two 12 packs because Kroger had a good sale. We still have plenty since it is just my husband and I using it.

I unfortunately have I,B.S. so I will have to stay away from my trigger foods. One of them is chocolate, which is my go- to when I am stressed. What a problem! :-\ :-\ :-\

Anybody got any suggestions for alternatives?  I know that people through the ages have not had the luxury of buying toilet paper.  I used to hear people talking about using the pages from a Sears catalog, but I didn't know if this were real, and of course, there's the tale about using corn cobs.  I'm not sure how that would work!

This time switch is really putting me down! I have to be at Walmart btw 7am to 8:30pm! Hello, I'm the 10pm to 2pm customer! When I did go at the assigned time, there was no toilet paper left! I ended up buying a pack of 100 napkins for a dollar the only thing remaining on the shelf!

Most stores get some TP but you need to get there when they open.  I know Target does an employee told us.  Also if there is an Aldi were you live they have, I have seen them with enough during the day, they allow to buy 2 per person.

I got lucky last week, went to Costco 1 day and they had just received a shipment so my daughter and my bought a pack each, since I had to shop for 2 houses, my oldest daughter works at the hospital and she asked me to find some TP for her too.

I usually do a big shop once a month at Costco, so I had just purchased toilet paper and paper towels when this hoarding hit.  My daughter is on an automatic monthly delivery from Amazon, so she got her toilet paper, paper towels, baby wipes and diapers.  I have had to take some to my Mom and a couple of friends, this really is ridiculous.  If people would just calm down the shelves would be restocked within a week of two.

I had a stockpile already so I'm good right now but if it last longer then the end of the month I'll gonna start panicking! I went to the grocery store on tuesday and they were still out of tp!

Our dollar store had a surplus of TP that you could eat beans everyday for a yr.And price was $7 for a 6 pack.Reasonable.

What irked me was 1 mask was $1.50 and hand sanitizer was $11.

I bought a bottle of wintergreen alcohol for $2.50 instead.

I can't see this actually working. I guess if it came down to not having any you could use a wash cloth and wash it out.

You know people could call you a hoarder for buying big huge packs. smh  So tired of hearing that word. But at least people stopped over using and misusing the word bully. Most people are not hording anything. Just getting what they need for extended stays in their home. This is getting scary.  When your area goes on complete lock down and you can be arrested for being out of your home and there are NO cases in your area ????  Then you don't know how long it will last?  Idk about anyone else by the stores are crazy in my area.

We are pretty well stocked up on Toilet Paper. There are four in our House, so it does not take that long to run out of it.
