Post by: hensleyll on April 27, 2020, 05:37:27 pm
Just don't understand, I am not unemployed but I have no work cant receive any kind of compensation because my job is direct mail/homework help but I pay a tremendous amount of taxes and oasdi is even taken out so what am I suppose to do for an income this stimulus check will help but not going to last forever, especially considering I am temporarily raising two grandkids one 5 the other 15, with no child support mom is locked up and dad is not involved

Sorry to hear about your situation-sounds as if you are in a true catch twenty two. My third job was closed until further notice (but expecting to reopen at the end of June). I put all of the money from that job into the bank because I was not sure what the taxes would be so I have a little lee way there. My regular job, second job and part time jobs are all going like gangbusters. I am not eligible for the standard relief money check due to having higher income. I believe that I am able to make a claim for money lost on my third job and will look into that this weekend. I have been helping a neighbor with his business which has cut into my free time. I have actually been busier during the stay at home orders than I normally am. Our State (Colorado) opened up their stay at home rules today but I anticipate working from home for at least forty five days. I wish you the best of luck.

I feel for you. It's so hard to earn income now a days with this moron president. I'm wondering even though you're not the parent of the kids you're supporting, isn't there another way the government can help you out in the form of child support?

Sorry that all is not  working out for you.  With this Covid-19, there is nothing being stated on when people will be able to go back to work.  For you working and taking care of the kids can't be easy.  Hope things get better for you.

Are you considered a gig worker - independent contractor, do you file a 1099s with your income tax?  If so, you can get $ through the CaresAct - via the Paycheck Protection Loan program.  It covers sole proprietors & independent contractors, ie self employed individuals & gig workers.

HTH, sorry this is happening to you.

Yeah cause things were so great with the moron before him.  ::)  The economy has been better under Trump than it ever has been in the history of America.  Take you hatin glasses off and you could see that.

LOAN program.  Those have to be paid back.  Pretty sure you have to also be a steady worker. Not just fly by night jobs here and there worker.

The people drawing unemployment have it made. Heck the businesses that are even opening back up can't get the dead beats to come back to work.  Our governor said if you call them back and they do not come to turn that in to unemployment and the unemployment checks will be stopped with the next check.  People don't want to work.  They want to sit at home and collect a check.  Sleep all day.  Lay around watching tv.  And order stuff online.  Then cry when it does not come for 2 weeks.

No, you don't have to pay it back if you keep your employees on payroll for those two months -- if you are self-employed gig worker/independent contractor you just pay yourself.  You need to have filed with a 1099s.  You average your pay for 12 months & you are entitled to claim two months worth + 25% of that for rent & other owner expenses, so you can claim up to 2.5x your monthly salary & if you keep yourself on payroll then you don't have to pay it back. The loan is forgiven.  I know two independent contractors who applied & have gotten their money.  One even additionally qualifies for unemployment + $600 bonus in California for not only having their own gig company BUT for being a gig employee of another company that is not able to work.

People on that unemployment do have it made, they're getting about up to $1100.00 a week for sitting around. That $600 "bonus" stops in June.  It is ridiculous that they're getting more money than they were even making & a stimulus check -- way over kill... but at least this time it's the little people getting the money & not just Corporations.

I do fulfillment for a company that sells cd's and dvd's on Amazon.  We have been so busy because of people staying at home.  I am brining in more than before the corona virus and the rioting started.  There are 2 groups out there, the actual peaceful protestors and the looters.

Praying things will continue to work out for you because it sounds like a rough situation.  Everyone is not trying to take advantage of the system and you sound like a hard responsible person.
