The first one was under the CARES act. This one is under the HEROES act.

YouTube has people who know about this. Last I heard they will agree to a second stimulas check but other things like extending unemployment they don't agree on. Maybe the beginning of July.

I read that Congress is out until the 1st, then will be working on a compromise on the Heroes Act stimulus package. But it sounds like it will definitely happen, it's just a matter of when. I'm back to work and still have most of the first stimulus money left, so I'm not hurting yet. Plus I recently applied to get my SS started, as I turned 62 in March. I have very few bills, but I know that's not the case with so many others.

We just finally received our first stimulus payment....but it wasn't a paper check. Instead it was a debit card.

I was somewhat surprised, after talking to someone that works at my third place of employment, to find out that I may qualify for some relief/stimulus money. I did not qualify for one of the benefits because, when filing with my wife, we make too much money. I started my third job Last June and averaged a fairly good sum. I stopped doing the third job as soon as the CoVid infection was a little better understood, basically putting myself in self quarantine. The person I spoke to said that, even though I still work full time at my day job (W2 income) and full time at my second job (1099 income), my average income for six months at the third job was substantial enough to make a relief request. I would get a minimal amount from the State of Colorado but the Federal benefit for pandemic unemployment assistance would be fairly sizeable and can be paid retro.

Do you research what you "hear" or just see headlines and run with it? The pre-paid card is still part of the only stimulus out there. Some people received direct deposit, some a paper check and for whatever reason some that did not get their money either of those ways will receive a pre-paid debit card.
The so called second is just demorats talking. Nothing is set in stone on that. This is NOT free money like a lot of people think. First all the extra money people are getting in unemployment YOU WILL PAY TAXES on that. And the $1200 is basically an advance on what you would have gotten back in 2021 when you filed your taxes. SO people gonna be crying when they do not get a big refund back next year. ::)

Well We got the first one. There is always talks about the second one so we shall see. It would be nice to get another one. I will just wait and see what happens and see if anyone starts getting the second one :)

My husband & I received the stimulus direct deposit on April 15th. It came at the perfect time since I'm not working and my husband's hours were reduced to 30 hours. He was still considered an essential worker making refrigerated trucks. The stimulus money of $2,400 helped us during the time while I didn't have work and his was reduced. He wasn't eligible for unemployment since he still made $80 more a week on 30 hours than the weekly benefits.
We never missed any bill payments and luckily had some savings as well.
I actually don't think they should pass another stimulus check because we can't just keep printing money.... :confused1: just my two sense....

Do you not get unemployment? Just curious. You are right about the just keeping on printing money. Most people are not smart enough to figure that out. All this money is not free either. All this extra unemployment people are getting if they did not have taxes withheld they will end up paying next year when they file. And all the big checks people get at the first of the year they are not going to get. You already got the money. Except most people got more than they usually get as a refund. I honestly do not think there will be another one People need to get off their butts and go back to work. There are jobs and employers are saying they can't get people to come back to work.

While I am looking forward to a second stimulus check, somehow I feel as though it is not going to happen. Republicans seem to be dead set against it. Ugh.

Fingers crossed, they get it right this time, "stimulus" checks won't come out of our tax refunds like the first round!
Been reading the new and they are optimistic about receiving second check by August 2020!

I don't believe the first round has anything to do with next years (2020) tax refund, but I could be wrong. I guess we will wait and see. Now it may have to be claimed as income, but not a deduction from 2020 refund.

I've "seen" the HEROS Act is calling for a second $1200, and they want to include those who make up to $75K and couples earning up to $150,000 would be eligible for $2,400. Why? Most people can live okay on those amount, plus they want the $600 extra for unemployment to continue. That's part of the problem. They also want to include adult dependents, many college students and immigrants. People without a Social Security number were excluded from the first round of checks. The HEROES Act says all you need is a taxpayer ID number.
The unemployment should be lower so people that expect "free" money forever would get used to not having that extra in their unemployment check. Pelosi wants a lot of other crap in the bill that has nothing to do with COVID-19 again. This is the other big sticking point and she and the rest of the Dems won't budge from that amount. I can see the essential workers also getting some because they weren't included in the CARES Act, but not the other stuff for . They need to stop acting like money grows on trees.
BTW, we didn't get our first round until mid-June. I had given up that we would ever get it. After all, when Bush was president and gave everyone that $500, we didn't get it. We didn't get any tax breaks or help through Obama either...so I would welcome another $1200 to make up for what we never got before. :D

I still haven't received my first stimulus check. So, I called about it. For some reason, it was returned. Good thing it that they have record of that and now I know they do. There were a couple of options about getting this check and the person on the phone said the best thing to do is just wait for it as there was a way to sign up on line but it wasn't working well for others. So I will wait for it to be mailed out again. I don't mind as long as I get it. I sure could use the money.

And I say again, please spellcheck. I'm sure it highlighted "STIMUS".
But it does give everyone the chance to decipher and translate the word into what it's supposed to be, so I guess it's all right. It's like a game of sorts.
BTW, I just checked for the definition of STIMUS and it pulled up "STIMULUS."
I must be the problem, bein' all nitpicky and such. GOOGLE fixes everything.

How did you call and speak to a human? What number did you call? OMG a human? Really?

Yes, I spoke with a human. I waited on the phone for about an hour however. I called the number that was provided on the followup letter (which I didn't get that either). I found the number online when I searched for articles relating to the subject. It is 800-919-9835. The person I talked to was pleasant and very helpful. I appreciated the help looking into the matter. So now I just wait but atleast I know what is going on.

Was the mailing of stimulus checks for the first wave that never got checks or for a second check? I know it hasn't been long since I noted the status of my first check, but I still haven't gotten my first one yet.

I hope I get a second one. I put my last one in the bank. I am saving it for when I might need it for a new car or something like that. You never know when you might need some extra money.

We need it. Esp. for those with medical bills or conmditons like diabetes. Already seeing dentists and ophmaelogy for the eyes. Havent seen the foot doctor as I have no feeling in toes. I can only see a few doctors at a time. Now have a lump on my back which my dad saw and said to have checked. Hope not a cyst which is cancerous. Insurance at work is not enuff. My hrs at wor have bee reduced and that money shd go to doctors.

Thrilled that we are on to step two! Of course the senate will pare it down in places but that's why it starts out large! Keeping our fingers crossed we get it thru before the election!

I do hope that they will pass the bill so we can get a second stimulus check. It would come in handy for a lot of people because there are still some businesses who are still not open and this would help people out so much.

I never said YOU do not work. If YOU assume my saying there ARE jobs and PEOPLE need to go back to work then obviously the comment applies to you. Otherwise you would not be offended.
There are people every where that are refusing to work because they want the big unemployment checks. Some states are still getting $300 extra and that is still enough to keep people at home. All the hand outs need to stop. Maybe give some hand outs to the people who have worked this whole time. Leave the ones out that already got a ton of extra money.
I highly doubt there will ever be a 2nd stimulus check. The two parties are not going to agree. The democrats won't agree to it unless they get a bunch of extra money for something stupid. This bill should be a stand alone thing. And even then I do not really agree with it. Where is this money coming from? It is not free. It is not just falling from the sky.
You want to say I (assume) things... You need to take a good hard look at yourself. That is all you do with everything I said. It amazes me at how people are too dumb to know how a conversation works. smh

Convince yourself and take a look at her past posts the past yr and see how controversial she is and how she loves to disagree and then call others bullies etc.
Plus shes very paranoid about others finding out about her...her religeon,where she lives,her personal life etc.But she will dig deep to find out about you.She thinks shes related to Columbo.

No, it will crash the economy. Where do you think this money is coming from? You can't just print more money. It does not work that way. Depending on which source you listened to the majority of the last stimulus was spent on debt not "stimulating" the economy. But then other sources talked about the huge spike in electronics. You know since everybody is gonna sit on their butt in their house the rest of their lives. Got to have that big screen tv.
Actually I don't think they ever said where the money came from for the last stimulus that was sent out.

it would be nice to get another one. My husband passed away 3 weeks ago and I am having a hard time with it
