Post by: ktheodos on June 24, 2020, 02:41:32 am
Are people having issues with people shooting off fireworks at night in your area?

Yes, people have been shooting fireworks off every night for a few weeks now. They've been far enough away so they're not too loud, but I can still see them usually. My dog seems fine with it so far.

We live a few miles from the city, but I've been hearing people complaining fireworks are going off every night sometimes up to midnight.

Not yet, but every year it starts about 8p and doesn't stop till after midnight!!  Now that they sell them in tents on the streets here, anyone can buy and set them off.. Many wildfires in my state now, I'm afraid this will just get worse.

Not yet, but it will start about the first. Where I live all the little towns have their own firework display, and they start July 1st through July 5th

Usually people start a day before

They have been shooting firecrackers for weeks and some bigger fire works as well.  It is illegal in the city even on the 4th but nobody says anything. If anybody complains they police drive thru the area and just report back they did not see anybody.  They don't want to get involved in anything.  I been running a fan at night so I don't hear it as much.

I haven't heard any fireworks yet.  It is getting closer to the 4th Of July, so I imagine folks will be shooting them off this weekend and throughout the 4th.

I hope our City still plans to have Fireworks on the 4th.  They shoot off a nice display over the lake.  Great time for family!!

I don't know about my state, it may be, I know several surrounding counties it is illegal.  It is illegal here in the city limits but I don't think it is out in the county. People shoot them any way and usually on the 4th the police do not say much. Where I live I can see others so I will watch them sometimes, depends on how hot and muggy it is and if there are a lot of bugs :D . It is funny people saying they don't have any money but are wasting $30 for ONE firework. smh  The people behind me shoot some big ones but you can't see them from my house for the trees.

I just read that Minneapolis had almost 300 complaints about fireworks this June, which is 30 times more than last year. I'm not in Minneapolis, but I've heard fireworks nearly every night since the George Floyd incident. Not sure if they're related or just coincidence.  ???

No so far no fireworks - still a week to the fourth of July though and that may change some things.

We haven't had those problems recently. In fact, I think that some of our planned fireworks shows will be cancelled due to COIVD this year

There have been complaints from around the country from people in major protest cities. Many suspect that the police in these cities have been setting them off as a form of psychological warfare to disturb protesters and citizens and cause unrest (which is clearly working).

Here's a link to fireworks being set off behind a NY police precinct:
https://twitter.com/AnneMarcelleN/status/1274540444253388800

There were also rumors that they were distributing them to young people. Also, we are coming out of a major pandemic that caused a record number of people to file for unemployment. Who can afford to buy so many fireworks to set them off throughout the night for several many weeks on end?

Fireworks are illegal here, but they are shot off all the time for almost a month now.  People get the fireworks, the good ones, from Mexico & bring them up to the states,  & you can pretty much buy the illegal awesome ones pretty much everywhere here in SoCal -- seems everyone knows someone with the illegal firework connection. Police haven't been enforcing the no firework ordinance apparently, so it's just wild this year.  Surprised we haven't been having wildfires yet.

Yeah, lotta fireworks lately. Usually they get shot off a day or two before the fourth, but this year people been doing it for weeks.

Probably sticking to the Gov (since they're technically "illegal") over the Lockdown/BLM business.

But Like CG said- The Cops generally don't care.

Yes. It has being going on for about 2 weeks now. My poor dog has been sleeping in my closet at night since it started. She hates fireworks, loud booms and thunder. My closet is her safe space.

Not yet luckily, but they will soon. I hate this time of year. The fireworks scare my horse so bad I'm afraid she's going to go through a fence.

It has been completely quiet at night where I live in northern NJ, but in NYC people are having terrible problems with not being able to sleep at night because of the jerks who are setting off fireworks at all hours. There have even been some accidents with the fireworks that have hurt people. It's a shame.

Where I live there are specifics dates and times where you can use fireworks, according to law.  There has actually been fewer fireworks around my neighborhood this year thus far, but I shouldn't say much as they might start going off as they have in the past.  However, it is hot and dry around here at present and the weathermen are warning fires may be easily started.  That frightens me a little as I have a nut that lives near me who sets then off at all hours day and night in the past.  I am thinking of reporting him if this happens this year.

We have had a few but nothing to get excited about.  My sister in law is having a rough time in New York with loud booms till 4am every night.  That's a pain I'm sure.

I've heard a few in the distance, probably from people living in the rural areas.  We have a city display on the 4th which I'm looking forward to.

I have a problem because these idiots have been using these fire crackers since May. It is nerve racking because most of them are loud.

YES! YES! and YES! A few nights ago (around 12 AM), I woke up to several fireworks being set off. I seriously believed they were gunshots and sprang up out of bed. I hate these idiots. At least wait until July 4. Morons...
