I rarely have paper money on me anymore. I would rather pay with a card where I get some measly cash back. Do you keep cash on hand?
-
No I always use my debit card now, much easier :)
-
Nah...I stick to credit cards but the places that only accept cash are real pain in the a** because now I got to try to find some and every last bit of cash I have is in the bank.
-
We use all cash for gas and groceries, date nights and some household products. Some bills are direct withdrawal and some, we write checks for.
-
Yes I do. I already have too much credit card debt as it is that I'm trying to pay down so I prefer using cash. Occasionally I use my debit card as a credit card but I'd rather just use cash.

How do you use cash for gas? I guess if you know how much you are putting in the tank. We always just fill up so we don't know how much it will take. I did not think any place would still let you pay after you pump. I only write a couple of checks a year.

You can use a credit card and not have cc debt. Just use the card and then pay the balance in full. A lot of people do that to get the rewards for using the card.

We use mostly debit card and occasionally a credit card. I can’t remember when we paid with cash. As far as writing checks, I think I probably write 2 or 3 a year.
-
I still use cash for inexpensive items.
-
I use cash. Keeps me from spending to much.
-
I carry a small amount of cash for inexpensive purchases, but I primarily use my debit card. I have one cash-back credit card I use for online and larger purchases. Always pay the balance.
-
No hardly ever - if I do it is to pay the man who mows for me occasionally or pressure washes. I had some little bills the other day and paid for a inexpensive prescription which was just a little over 2$.
-
Rarely. However, I do like to have a couple dollars on me - just in case :D

I know a woman that uses cash for everything. She gets her check cashed and pays for everything in cash. If she can't pay in cash she pays with a money order. She is terrified of being tracked. Guess that is fine but there are times when you need to be able to prove you paid something and if you paid in cash you have less to go on that if you paid with an electronic payment. Besides that her info is online anyway. Most people do not seem to grasp that. Your bank account and info is online whether you use your checks or pay with a debit card or not. Same with medical stuff. All that is online now.

It does make you more aware if you pay with cash than if you swipe a card.

I like to have some cash stashed in my wallet -- just in case -- too. I do not want to become totally cashless.
I like being able to use cash for small purchases and for kids, grandkids, garage sales...
I still use checks for several monthly bills. I mostly use my cash back credit cards and pay them off each month.
-
I still use cash pretty much mostly. Credit is used for large purchases by me. Honestly I don't care for the cards in general when shopping rather have cash in my hands just feels weird with plastic in my hands.
-
i havent used cash i years..except to get some out for granddaughters birthdays....now i just cash app it to them
-
We seldom use cash, although I always have some "mad" money stashed away in my purse. That's what we called it when I was growing up. Not sure why!
-
I keep a small amount of cash for thing under $5. the rest we use the debit card for.
-
I always have some...which is important to do...but not a lot
-
Nope, not a cash guy.
-
I have some pocket money, but more and more lately I've been using my phone for no contact purchases at stores.
-
I use cash when buying gold or rare coins. My wife and I usually keep cash on hand in case we are in a position that requires a tip/gift like restaurants, valet, Uber and homeless people. Everyone likes getting cash on the side and get taxed so heavily on credit card tips. Even thought servers are, supposedly, only required to report eight percent of their sales, one hundred percent of their credit card tips are reported and often times they are unable to pay the taxes on those because their wages are much lower. Uber drivers have expressed near undying gratitude for cash tips even though most of their fare is consumed by mileage expens (and approximately thirty percent is kept by Uber). Homeless people can always use a buck and I include a snack as well (protein bar, nuts, dried fruit, beef jerky-whatever I have available).
-
no Card only
-
I use cash the most because you don't have to worry about hackers getting into my accounts that way.
Plus, it's not as complicated
-
The problem with cash right now is the current lack of coins. I see at so many places out there with signs at the register stating there is a shortage, so making change is problematic.
-
I always use cash, I just like to use cash
-
mostly debit card
-
i try and have some available to tip my hairdresser or if i owe someonw for my volleyball leagues
-
I rarely use cash. I have to use cash to buy my free range eggs because it's at an egg farm & they only take cash, that is about it.
There is a change shortage here, & many stores require exact change for purchases Easier with a card.
-
I usually use a card because I get points for it.
-
Yes, I love using cash, this way I am not racking up credit card debt....
-
Where I live3 I always have cash. When we have the very hard winds frequently the electricity goes out so you pay cash or do without. They also offer a discount at a lot of stations if you pay cash, so I give them an estimate of what gas I will need, and then get the difference back when I am through pumping. Also in emergencies (like after earthquakes) they take cash because of the problems with the power. Sometimes it is just more convenient. I do use a debit card a lot.
-
While I keep cash in my wallet "just in case", I rarely use it. I use plastic (mostly debit) for most of my purchases.
-
Yes, do just to break up the total amount I’m spending on credit so I can keep track of it.

Hi!
I mostly use my debit card it is just easier. I believe in the future it will all be debit cards. Let's see if I'm right!

You can't fill up before paying for the gas. You go inside the little store and pay for the gas, then you put gas in your tank.

It is a rare occasion when I have more than $5.00 in my wallet. When debit cards first came out I thought, "Well, I'll never use one of these!" Famous last words. Now I use my debit card almost exclusively.
-
Nope. Just my card.
