Title: Voting
Post by: Nancy5 on October 27, 2020, 09:48:42 am
I’m not asking who you’re voting for, but how did you vote.  By mail, dropping off at courthouse, in person before Election Day, or the day of the election  Or maybe some other way ?

My use of a ballot drop box outside of the voting registration office in my town.  I can barely walk so I actually pulled up by the curb and asked a man to drop mine in with his.  And I didn't doubt he would do so but I did watch.

That is interesting. Maybe they think they will get more participation. Esp from people who did not request the ballot.

I spent an evening working with my wife, discussing the different issues, filled out the forms, double checked everything, and delivered them to the closest local ballot box by our city police department. Not too worried about someone starting a ballot box fire at that location. Going to a ballot box was so much easier than standing in horrendous lines on election day. Our state, Colorado, has made it as easy as possible to cast a vote. Really glad that the options were expanded in the face of the pandemic. I would have voted, no matter what, but going in person would have cost me time away from work and potentially exposed me/loved ones to sickness. I shudder to think about trying to vote in Texas, Pennsylvania or any of the other states that began reducing ballot boxes and mail boxes.

Did early voting at the courthouse in person. No lines or anything. Just vote, get a free pencil that said "I voted" and went home happy I did my civic duty.  :icon_rr:

I was planning on going to vote on Tuesday, but i've heard that my local polling spot has been changed & now we have only a couple spots for the whole city.  I'm still going to go vote, but i'll be bringing my filled out ballot in case there is a line & a drop off.  No drop-off, i'll be standing in line listening to an audio book.

That seems odd.  At a time when they are yelling social distance why would you have less polling places?  I don't know why you would have less any way unless it was a poll where less than 10 people vote and then those people can go to the next closest spot.  It also seems odd that you have a mail in ballot filled out in your hand and still have the option to vote in person.  This will lead to many people voting twice or more.  They caught illegals voting as many as 10 times in the last election.

My parents who are disabled have voted absentee for years, there envelopes have always been postage paid.   They have closed over the last 3 years lots of polling places in my area, where lots more than 10 people voted.  Since they closed so many polling places, my wait to vote has gone from about 20 minutes to 4 hours.  They have done this all over the country.  It is called voter suppression or gerrymandering.

It has not happened in my county.  I actually called this morning and she said none of the polling places had closed.  It takes people to run the polls so if it is located in an area where they is not a lot of traffic they combine voting stations.  I would stand in line all night to vote if that is what it took.  As far as the early voting they did move that to a different location so they had more room. But it was not a big deal.  The info is out there as to where to go to vote.

Hi!

Unfortunately, I can't vote because I'm not American. I wish I could because this election seems really important for some reason. May the best man win ya.
