Off-Topic / Re: Please explain Noah's Ark to me ...
« on: August 22, 2009, 03:14:24 pm »Message ID: 82401
This brings up an interesting point.

Genesis 6:19 says:

You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you.

Genesis 7:2-3 says:

Take with you seven of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and two of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, and also seven of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth.

So uh, which one was it?  Yet another reason to question the legitimacy of the tale.

Never mind the fact that we're supposed to believe Noah himself lived to be 950 years old.  Just plain nonsense.

It's a lovely story, with some good metaphorical meanings...but, as usual, there's absolutely zero credible evidence or rational logic to support it.

ok so if you look in addition to the animals that were to repopulate the earth, these "clean" animals were for food and for Noahs sacrifice after the flood (8:20-21)

lol ok im replying to this last post made on here and all the other ones who are doubting Thomas's, honsetly i for one am a born again, spirit filled, God fearing Christian woman. i believe evolution came about because people simply were to scared to trust in and on their faith. Christianity is an exercise in faith. God made the earth, the universe, all the animals, and us, and on the seventh day the Sabath He rested ( Shabbot Shalom). What is so unbelievable about the Ark? hmm? Is Life and every aspect of it not miraculous? You know i believe in the Bible in its entireity and because of this you would call me a moron? HELLO!!??? LOL i will pray for you, i will pray that before it is your turn to face our Lord that you would find salvation and peace, but if you choose not to.... well either way on that day you WILL KNOW that God not evolution created the universe and everything in it. I'm not writting this to offend anyone just to have a say i suppose.......... God Bless!

Off-Topic / piercings and tattoos
« on: July 27, 2009, 03:00:57 pm »Message ID: 74133
ok quick question i wanted to see what everyones opinion was reguarding piercings and tattoos with women or men over 18. a bunch of my friends and myself were hanging out and i mentioned i got a new tattoo done and that led into the discussion about wether or not it was a bad example to have tattoos and piercings when your a parent, wether or not its a rebelious stage that most people out grow by the time they reach their twentys. personally i have three ear piercings that i've had since i was 14 and i also have a nose piercing and three tattoos. i dont think im wild or a bad example to my son all of my tattoos are in places that are coverable. but when my friends and i talked this over it was a split topic mainly my guy friends thought it was a bad example and the girls didn't, although it could have something to do with the fact that most of my girl friends have piercings, tattoos, or both, and most of the guys didn't..... what are everyones thoughts on this? ???

Off-Topic / women in the military

ok so im a little shocked and outraged i was going to enlist in the airforce when i turned 18 it seemed like the thing to do at the time but i got caught up in life and what not, but my best friend joined the army and my little sister joined the army also. my best friend has been in for almost three years already and my little sister has been in for almost a year neither of them are recieving fair treatment. the men for the most part (not all mind you) but they are rude and constantly make snide comments. my sister was raped this past spring by a man in her unit and it took calls from my mother to my sisters co and chaplain to finally get her moved into a different unit away from the man who raped her until the investigation is finished. this happened back in april and they are just moving her next week!!????? this is wrong.  >:(

Off-Topic / Re: r U baptized????
« on: July 25, 2009, 05:21:33 pm »Message ID: 73635
ok i believe that baptism is an outward confession of an inward change. i was dedicated as an infant but when i turned eight i begged to be baptized and my pastor thought i was too young i kept on bugging until finally he asked me why i wanted to be baptized and i remember telling him i loved jesus and wanted to show everyone else that i wasnt ashamed and also how much i loved Him. so after a few more questions he agreed to baptize me and the following sunday i was baptized i remember standing in front of the church and giving my testimony lol. i have a son myself and i had him dedicated but i've not had him baptized when he is old enough to know what and understand what it means and he is ready to be baptized then i will support him.... i hope this helps
