Sounds like the beginnings of a hokey religion to me.

Maybe that's why they don't put any respectable citizens on the news when it comes to UFO sightings - they always depict the backwoods rednecks & hillbilies that embrace every sense of the title.

These are both kinda true and the irony just has me giggle like a 2 year old. You are practically shunned from average society if you say you saw or believe in aliens, but believing in a cosmic jewish carpenter zombie from 2000+ years ago who said he was god ('s son) and that he talks to you in a metaphysical sense is perfectly normal and widely accepted.

That made me laugh. No one ever thinks of it that way but essentially its true.

my man had ghosts in his last house he lived at with his parents. he would see them in the mirror. he knows that there were demons there too.

yea... that's the really scary kind. And dangerous - cuz ghosts you can usually leave behind or at least if they're haunting the place- but demons can follow you no matter where you go.

That's always a touching event. Those men and women put their lives on the line everyday & have to be ready to give up the ones they love. As well the families at home have to go through worrying everyday about the man/woman/father/mother/child that they love. I haven't seen the show, but I'm sure its beautiful !!

Debate & Discuss / Re: Drugs
« on: March 10, 2011, 11:22:30 am »Message ID: 324646
I look at it from both sides. Yes, mostly the narcotics, methamphetamine... etc hurt more than just the person taking them. I have a newly found sister-in-law that is hurt emotionally everyday by the drug abuse that her mother chooses to do. Thankfully she lives with her grandparents and does not have to put up with her addiction draining every penny they have. However, there are some that I understand - pain remedies, marijuana - I understand that a little better. I have family & in-laws that have gone through every addiction. My husband has painful remedies of his mother choosing her drug dealing boyfriend and his drugs over him & his siblings several times. My brother-in-law has been going in and out of jail for the past few years due to battling drug addictions. At the same time I have friends and family that have addictions that really doesn't hurt anyone. For example (I will not name whom) but 1 person I know, stresses themself out more than necessary & all their responsibilities, worries, stresses, and ambitions usually hit them all at once. But smoking marijuana helps them sort through the jumbled mess in order to actually think things through and make more sound, responsible decisions. On the other hand- this same addiction does cause problems for those around them. It makes finding a reputable job almost impossible, which makes obtaining an income without killing themselves an almost impossible task as well. Also, it is a constant struggle for those who do use it in a productive manner to fight the addiction enough to be able to have control over the addiction rather than the addiction control them.

There is the good point that - in many instances Marijuana has many of the same effects of alcohol (yes speaking from prior experimental experience). So, I do think that if they allow alcohol legal and able to tax the H#@! out of it  as well as regulate it and put stipulations on the use of it  - why shouldn't they do the same for marijuana. It would cut down on the "black market" or street corner sales of it and the local & federal governments would be able to use the tax money towards bettering our country - whether it be to health care programs, schools, road repair, etc. They could also reduce the amount of money going to other countries - like mexico - supplying it to the US and using the money to fund war-for-profit, overseas gun sales, etc. It would actually put money back into the economy rather than out from under the table.

@ Sherna - That was a very deep hearted response you posted. And it does serve a very good point. It is important to forgive those who do you wrong - even for those who do not believe in God, because even if they don't believe they shouldn't let something fester & bring them and their lives down. Especially something like those incidents is difficult to "get over" or get passed. But the important thing is for a person's own conscience and ability to rise above such tribulations - it is necessary to forgive that person. Just like with your husband - sometimes something stronger and better than before can come from the worst situations.

Debate & Discuss / Re: Who is better uneducated or educated mother?
« on: March 10, 2011, 10:45:09 am »Message ID: 324631
I would have to agree that an educated mother is better. Mainly because she can then help her child/children with their homework. Help them to understand subjects that they don't. And after having to go through the self-discipline of years of school that -come on, no one actually wants to go through - she can better relate to her children. Also it does provide a better life style for the children to grow up in. No matter how much we try to hide our financial struggles from our children - they still know (speaking from experience). And sometimes that creates more pressure on the children, whereas an educated mother who can help her husband create a comfortable (not luxurious but comfortable) life for their family makes a world of difference.

At the same time - there are several things that cannot be taught from books. Motherly instincts are learned from her own parents and grandparents, its certainly not something that can be learned in school. The same goes with the ability to teach morals, standards, and things of the sort. Cooking yes - it can be learned in school. But that's the only "motherly" quality that can be taught in a classroom. Everything else about actually being a mother is learned by example & experience.

First off - I never said it was easy to CREATE DNA - I said that we can TAKE DNA & CREATE LIFE.
Secondly - who says living creatures can ONLY survive in OUR ideal living environment? On our own planet we have life forms & species that exist in some of the most extreme of environments that we as humans cannot live. And who's to say that a different type of being's (not human) molecular structure has to be even nearly the same as humans? Or that it would need the same elements to survive?

And again - just because we haven't found evidence of it automatically means it doesn't exist. That's pretty closed minded. What about the evidence that some planets have changed and could at one time have sustained life - there's evidence of that on even Mars. Besides - we haven't been able to actually explore any more of the universe - barely even been able to explore our own galaxy.

Why does it have to be for mystery and entertainment to think for as vast as the universe is & we haven't even explored a fraction of it that there's the possibility of other life forms? After all - there are things here on Earth that cannot be explained why or how they were created in such a way. Like the Great pyramids - they had NO technology - so how did they line them up PERFECTLY to the constellation Orion? Same with the Mayan Temples. How did the Mayans have such an intricate knowledge of the Earth, the Sun, and the Solar System much of which wasn't proven for centuries later?? For ex. How did they know the Earth was round & how did they know the lay-out of our solar system when they had no way of seeing or learning about it & before scientists knew the same information??? Besides that there are several other structures on/ within the Earth that can only be seen "whole" from high altitudes - when they had no way of getting up there to know what they were doing or if they were doing it right?? What about the mountain top that was COMPLETELY leveled & is the equivalent of our modern day landing strips? How did it get PERFECTLY level & where did the rocks go? can't be from simple erosion - its too precise & with erosion there's usually the answer of where did it go - but not there its not.

Those are just things on our own planet that cannot be explained. But I guess you believe the Sumerians & their Tablets of Creation, and their knowledge and/or writings of the Annunaki - are all a hoax too?
Tell ya what - check this link out, oh and keep in mind - its a Minister - very religious Godly man who has spent Several years studying the Bible, but has also been open minded enough to study the findings regarding the Sumerians & The Tablets of Creation - who wrote this:

http://sabbathrock.com/tablets.aspx

Otherwise -  I agree with a previous comment that if we are the only intelligent lifeforms in the ENTIRE UNIVERSE - that's aiming pretty low...... especially for a God who is so capable... But that's Just my opinion though.

Off-Topic / Re: how do you get a one year old to get his food
« on: March 04, 2011, 04:00:15 pm »Message ID: 321956
we used to do the same thing with my now 7 year old. She never gave us trouble eating, but my 2 year old does. Sometimes its because I cave & let her snack too much before meal time. Same with my one year old. And the trick to vegetables that I've learned with mine - is if you can get them to at least try one bite - they usually like them. Make a game of it. Plus eating more vegetables yourself helps too. Kids want to emulate their parents so if they see us eating and enjoying more veggies they usually will too. :) hope it helps

I'm not saying that its easy to create life. But even as primitive as we (humans) still are - we are able to take DNA and create life. Whether it be cloning or artificial insemination, surrogacy ... why is it so far fetched for a more advance civilization to be able to. The Earth is roughly 4 billion years old, The human race has only been around for about 50,000 years, and only had the ability to create documentation for 5,000. These are rough figures, that aren't precise because I can't remember exactly (its been a while). Besides the fact, there have been times that the Earth has been "re-made" within its five cycles (2012 is supposed to be the 5th cycle). Also, humans only really use about 10% of our brains ability - who knows what we could accomplish if we used the other 90%.

Wow.....I've always said that I have turned down way more then I have ever had......guess I've had way more then I thought :o/

That's a good one. LMAO. And think about all the men and women who've had sex with 1 person while thinking about someone else... is that equivalent to a threesome?? LOL

@ Falconer - thank you for bringing up good points. I like the way you point out the beliefs that everything is so cut and dry, black and white  JUST because the Bible says so....

To me - that's not just faith, that's Blind faith.

The hard part anytime you have an encounter is not knowing if it something you should worry about or not. Sometimes, its residual and doesn't even effect you, they don't even know you're there. Sometimes, it an intelligent haunt - but there are friendly and unfriendly ones of those too. Then there's demons that can latch onto a person and can follow someone from one place to another and actually mean to cause harm. The hard part is not knowing what kind of haunt it is when you have one. And sometimes, if its a bad kind - you don't find out until its too late.

About the numbers thing - that is weird. Some would say its a sign that its time to go to the casino - play roulette & put your money on 1 & 11 !! LOL. But that's usually a myth. There was a documentary I saw once about a former Air Force soldier that had something similar happen to him, but he only got visions of these 1s and 0s - like a binary code. Once he left the area that he was getting those, he continued to get the visions in a dream. So he wrote the code out over a few days or weeks, i don't remember how long, and eventually got the courage to take it to a binary specialist who put them into a computer program that translates binary code. And it came out to be a fragmentary sentence that said "Exploration of Humanity" followed by a set of coordinates then "Continuous for planetary advance"

I definitely believe in ghosts. We used to have one that would help entertain & put our kids to sleep. My oldest is now 7 years old. But when she was 6 months old, me & my (now) fiancee were still living with my parents (we were young parents still getting on our feet - don't judge me) and I heard her crying & waking up in the middle of the night, so as i got up to get her & not wake him i heard a male voice over the baby monitor calming her & putting her back to sleep. At the time my dad often suffered from insomnia - so I assumed it was him since he was the only other male in the house. The next morning I thanked him for getting her back to sleep for me - his response was that he never woke up that night. Neither did my mom, and my brother didn't come over either.

A couple years later - she was about 2 1/2 or so, as I was putting her to bed, saying our prayers singing her a lullaby etc. She just kept staring at a blank wall - and I asked her what she was doing & why she wasn't trying to go to sleep - her response was "I'm waiting for the boy mama" I asked her "what boy" she says "the man". So I proceeded to tell her that there were no boys in the house (my fiancee was working late) it was just me, her & grandma (recently moved back in after a break-up then). So she looked around the room, shrugged then went on to sleep with no problems.

No big occurrences for a few years then after we had our second daughter (she was about 2 months old then) and at 2:00 in the morning my fiancee was putting her back to sleep since he was already up (a friend had stayed over late waiting on a car repair to be finished by a friend) even though he had to be to work very early. After about 30 mins or so he made the comment to her "come on sweetheart you've got to go to sleep, daddy has to sleep" then he heard footsteps go down the hall followed by her mobile crank turning 3 times then start playing. He swooped her up scared half-to-death and made it into the bedroom to me in less than a second. The mobile cranking up happened about 3 more times randomly over the next couple months and only after 10 pm, and only if she gave us trouble going to sleep.

Since we moved we haven't had any real occurrences but I wonder sometimes, because of the strange feelings I get - the same ones I used to get in our old house. Though its never felt threatening, more like family....hanging around keeping an eye on us.

Good Advice from everyone. Sometimes with mine I had to slow myself down & help them eat a little more, or make a game out of it (the airplane or the choo-choo, or a race car LOL). I agree with making sure they don't eat as many snacks during the day or at least within a couple hours before dinner. My two year old does the same thing sometimes, and I've been trying to get her to eat more. Also, are y'all eating at the table with him? Sometimes they don't want to eat unless you're right there eating too. My two-year-old won't eat if her big sister is done already. She thinks when her sister is done that means she is also. We're looking to get a bigger dinning room table cuz right now we can't all fit at ours, but that's something that does help also.

SherylsShado - I have more question for you - do you have any idea and contradicting you keep making yourself sound???????

You say things like there's nothing wrong with other religions & tribes & there will be a mix that go to Heaven and Hell - but at the same time you say that there is only ONE Right way to Heaven. But some of the other religions out there - don't believe the way to Heaven is the same way that you believe to be the ONLY way to Heaven.  <<<< Contradiction

Also, you say there's nothing wrong with questioning the Bible and religion - and that it doesn't necessarily mean that someone who does is going to go to Hell... But at the same time you say that ANYONE who does NOT have complete (basically blind) faith in God and devotes their entire life to worshiping Him and not only that - but lives as such, will be sent to Hell. <<<< Contradiction
