Off-Topic / Re: what is to old to have a child
« on: August 08, 2011, 05:24:16 am »Message ID: 398353
My sister is 42 and is pregnant with her last child.  She started late, and wanted to round out her family.  My kids are 16 years apart oldest to youngest, because I started early and ended late.  I wouldn't trade my "baby" for the world.  Biolically I can still have more and I am 49.  IF I did get pregnant it would be an act of God and I would look at it as a blessing and raise it.  What else could I do?

Learn to utilize CVS's Extracare Bucks and Walgreens Register Rewards ... they are instant in store rebates that you can use like cash on other items.
Get get every reward card for stores you frequent that compounds savings.

This is what I do,  I love CVS I have stockpiles so many toiletries that I don't need to go this week.  The downside is that you need to remember to cash in your extra bucks. In our stores they allow you to ring up your extra buck purchases cash out, and then use the extra bucks you just earned to buy the other stuff in your cart.

Off-Topic / Re: Grocery store cleaning shelves

I have never seen them clean the shelves in our stores here but they must do it because they are not dusty.  The one store that I have seen here that is terrible is Getto-mart.  (Walmart in a bad area of our little town)  Needless to say, I don't go there, even if I am on the East side of town.  Otherwise things are good here.

We went to Custer, South Dakota last year and fell in love with it!  The people are probably the friendliest that we have met and the area felt just wonderful.  We joked that when we retire we are going to summer in SD and winter in PA.

My suggestion is to teach him how to make decisions.  Yes I know he is only 6 months and all too soon he will be testing the waters.  My favorite phrases are;  "When you __ then___"  For example this worked with my granddaughter when she was 18 months old and was trying to run away.  Mary when you walk beyond the chairs then Uncle Drew is going to bring you back.  She understood this and I didn't have to raise my voice.  She did choose after 3 times of saying this to stay behind the chairs.

Other than that, with boys (and I have 3) sit in a stratigic location and watch, you wont be able to keep up with them.

Off-Topic / Re: Parents Won't Pay for College

I already broke up with him, and she's still not paying for college. Every time I get paid from being a tutor/babysitter, she takes the money. She's not allowing me to have my license either so I won't get a constant job.

If you are 18, your parent(s) have no legal obligation to support you.  If she is taking your money, then I bet she wants rent of some kind or she is just narcisistic and the world revolves around her.  If that is the case, you will never win this fight, or any other fight that you have with her.  I suggest that you reach down, pull up your boot straps and move out if things are that bad.  Thing is as long as you are in your parents house, it is there house and their rules.  After 18, you become a "guest" in a way and you are not guaranteed anything.

Also, if you are 18 and over, you don't need your parents permission to get your license.  If you wanted it bad enough, you would get it.  I know many adults how found a way to overcome whatever obstacles they faced, and some were pretty terrible.  I think it is time that you quit making excuses and find a way to do what you want.

Off-Topic / Re: Did or do your parents embarrass you?
« on: August 04, 2011, 06:36:45 am »Message ID: 396345
When I was a teen, my parents did embarass me.  It was mostly the old junk car that we drove around in, my mother the way she dressed.  Now that I am an adult, I realize that we didn't have a lot of money and that is why they did the things they did.

As an adult, I am sure that I embarass my kids usually by calling them by there nickname when we are out.

There is that daily picture again, well at least now I know it is worth 15 cents!  Daily Email is easy enough once you get the hang of it.  It was quite confusing when I first started.  And posting to blogs is easy enough, if you start at the beginning of the month, then you really only need to do one or two a day.

Offers / Re: WHAT IS AN EASY WAY TO REACH $25?

Ok, I just double checked to see if I could find the daily video, and alas, I must be blind because I can't find it.  Are all the offers the same for everybody?  If not, that could be why I can't find it.

I havent seen daily videos, but I do the daily email.  I have only qualified for one survey in the last two weeks and I don't think I got credit for it anyway. I just started about two weeks ago and I am at 14.00 already.  I don't think that is too bad since I am doing this in my down time between household activities.

Off-Topic / Re: Is this bizarre for a 17 year old to ask you how long to boil a frank?

Unfortunatly it isn't odd, it unfortunatly is how most almost adults are now.  I work in a school and most of the students about 80% have what I call learned helplessness, everyone has done everything for them their whole life and they can't think for themselves.

I have a better one... 17 year old has to do his own laundry and asks what he adds to the washer so his clothes get clean.  His 16 year old Autistic brother knows enough to read the label for detergent and can wash his own clothes without help.

Once I started leaving the congratulations page open until I got credited I have only had the not crediting problem a few times.
What a great hint!  I was becoming very frustrated when I didn't see my credit, after all that clicking it is a bummer not to get what the bonus is suppose to be in the end.  Once again thanks!

Off-Topic / Re: Extreme Couponing
« on: August 01, 2011, 12:43:42 pm »Message ID: 394604
In one show they had a woman who was dumpster diving for coupons, I think that is a little overboard.  I do use coupons and my kids know that special items require the item to be on sale and I need to have a coupon.  It's only hoarding when you buy stuff that you don't need.  Why on earth would somebody buy diapers when they don't have kids!!!  Of course you could donate the stuff to the food bank and use the value (real not paid) as a tax deduction.

Off-Topic / Re: Do you hang you TP over the roll or under ?

When you go into a hotel, they want the TP to be over and they even fold the corners in sometimes depending on where you stay.  I have noticed that Left Handers usually end up putting the TP under white righties put it over.  If you have cats you might want to put it under so that they dont unroll the whole roll while you are at work!

We have had parties since I moved here and it ALWAYS rains.  Thank goodness for tents and oil to light the bonfire!  Weather looks good so far for this years party.
