Off-Topic / Re: Grammy's

I loved Adele's performance but I have to say Bruno Mars was the highlight for me. I had never really heard of him before, but after watching him perform, I was like, wow! this guy is pretty cool. During Chris Brown's performance, I turned to my husband and said "if you need that much stuff going on in the background of your music, I fail to see you as being really talented." Maybe it's just me, but singers like Adele, or Bruno Mars are much more talented than a guy like Chris Brown. Oh, and it also annoys the crap out of me that this guy, 3 years ago beat up his girlfriend and is now being celebrated for his music. In any other world, this guy would have gone to jail for assault. I'm sorry, but I have a big problem with the recording industry celebrating a guy like this. That's just me, though....

Off-Topic / Re: pregnancy tips

We tried for 4 years to have our son with no luck. We even went to fertility treatments and they didn't work. It was only when I had really stopped focusing on it that it happened. Believe me, I know how frustrating it is to hear "stop trying" but it really does work. I started focusing on changing careers and got so wrapped up in doing that, it actually helped take my mind off the trying to conceive part. Then, boom! Got pregnant with our first. And it seems like that kick-started everything for me and I was actually able to get pregnant 2 more times without really trying. I know that not everyone has this happen to them and that some have medical stuff that gets in the way, but if you are otherwise healthy and they say nothing is really wrong with you, just relax and it will happen. Hope this helps! Good luck!

I've tried both and I like Netflix much better. They have more applications to watch movies/shows and their website is more user friendly.

I go to the NY Auto Show every year and it's great. Last year I went to a garden show in my area for the first time. I was really impressed. It wasn't what I expected and I ended up finding a really cool vertical planter that I probably would not have found otherwise.

Every year since I was a kid, my family has rented a cabin on Lake Winnipesaukee in NH. I have continued that tradition with my kids. Love this place! It is so peaceful up there, it's a great way to recharge from life.

LOVE that show! It's the only show that I actually have some of the seasons on DVD and will watch them over again. I love their relationship and the banter. So good. I watch Parenthood now because Lauren Graham is on it. It's good, but I really miss Gilmore Girls :-(

Off-Topic / Re: how much is the gas price in your area??

I'm in NJ and it is $3.59 at the Sunoco up the street from me, but we also have Costco gas and it is $3.31 there. I no longer go to the Sunoco...always make sure to go to Costco since it is cheaper.

I couldn't believe it when I saw this thread and hadn't read the news yet. I jumped over to a news site just to see if someone was joking or something. So sad and so very tragic. She had such an amazing voice! I feel so sorry for her daughter....

I agree completely! I used to shop exclusively at one supermarket, but I've now realized that certain products are significantly cheaper elsewhere and as long as I'm not running around all over the place too much and wasting gas, I will now shop other places too. It's crazy! I only buy milk at Costco because it is over a dollar cheaper than my supermarket or Target and we go through 3 gallons a week. I've thought of rationing my kids' milk intake that's how bad it is!

I LOVE the Volkswagen commercial with the kid dressed up as Darth Vader and trying to get things to move with his mind. And then the father comes home and gets the car to make noise from inside the house as the kid thinks that he is the one that did it...cracks me up every time and is very cute and clever!

Off-Topic / Re: DO YOU LIKE TO CLEAN THE HOUSE?
« on: February 11, 2012, 05:37:30 am »Message ID: 489072
I wish we could afford to hire someone because I absolutely HATE to clean! On top of that, I feel guilty because the house isn't spotless and I'm the one home all the  time with the kids. I feel like because I'm here, I should be able to maintain it. Truth is, running around after the kids all day, I am too exhausted to even think about doing it. It sucks, too, because we also have cats so I absolutely have to vacuum at least once a week (probably more!) to keep up with all the cat hair and food that my kids drop all over the kitchen floor!

I've done Atkins and it worked really fast (lost over 50lbs in 6 months) but I could never do that again. Now I'm on Weight Watchers and have used that after each of my pregnancies. It definitely works, but I hate dieting! I can't wait to lose all the baby weight and not have to focus on what I'm eating!
