Debate & Discuss / Re: Loan
« on: July 25, 2014, 09:07:32 pm »Message ID: 902559
I have to say yes.  I am stuck in a payday advance loan that I cannot pay off.  All I can do is play it smart and step it down a level each time the loan comes due until I can work out of the low level.  I cannot really pay it off without rolling it over and borrowing it back.  I joke all the time and say I wish I could get lucky enough to have a really hot month on online surveys to pay it off, but it hasn't happened yet.

Debate & Discuss / Re: Foodstamps

Thank you.  Yes.  I agree that random drug testing would be a better idea.  But's let's talk about the truly handicapped who are honestly not able to do an honest day's work.  In today's world, the sad fact is that Social Security does not even cover the bills.  I believe 100% in what you have said that food stamps should be used as a temporary fix between jobs and a person should get back to work after losing a job as soon as possible.  Yes, but in the case of a truly handicapped person, going back to work again may not be an option.
I have just recently had this same argument with a very close family member.  I have a family member who is 21 and ADHD and collecting Social Security based on the ADHD.  I think this is wrong, wrong, wrong.  I have spoken up and said either channel your hyperactivity into a high-paced job or if it is an attention problem work a split shift in the day or something, but ADHD is not a permanent disability to get a check and stamps to live on.  On the other hand, I have another family member who in the last few years has lost his vision and is not going back to work.  I can't imagine.  That would horrify me.  Without his vision, yes, he needs to be at home with his check and even after working from age 16 to age 50+ he only qualified for SS at a rate of $780/mo.  That does not pay the rent, electric, water, etc.  Does a trip to Burger King have to be considered a luxury?
He also qualified for food stamps at a rate of $210/month for a family of two.  Okay, $210/month breaks down in a 30 day month to 7 dollars a day or $3.50/person per day.  What are you going to get to eat for your day today on your daily $3.50 allotment?  I would like to put President Obama in a Kroger with $3.50 and say "Here ya go...go get your day's allotment and I'll give you the same tomorrow".  How would that go over?  NOT!

I wholeheartedly believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  I could never have gotten through half my life's experiences without.

countrygirl12, your post made me laugh.  Thank you.  I worked for a payday advance company a while back that had us out doing flyers in a local shopping plaza.  The store owners did call and complain, but our manager only told us A) go ahead and hit a different plaza and B) let some time pass and go on back to that one - because once the flyers are out there, even if they are complaining the ad has been seen.  We were told that if you get 300 of them out there and get 3 customers, even that is company growth.

Oh yes, just a few days ago for some reason I had Beyonce's "Single Ladies" running through my head and I do not know why.  I have not heard that song for a while and it just hit me and stuck (and stuck and stuck).

I do not like them at all either.  However, my boyfriend loves them and I guess there is some kind of rush from that feeling of fear and suspense.  I don't know.  I don't get it.  I would much rather sit down and just watch a good half hour tv sit com, I guess.

I know that I snore and it doesn't matter how I fall asleep, I will anyway.

No, I don't want to rush it.  I enjoy the season.  Well, I guess for one reason or other, I really enjoy all seasons, but I like to enjoy the summer weather while it is here.

Nope, nope, nope.  I will never go back to our local one.  Nope.  Even for the great deals it is not worth it to me.  I saw a great deal there once on a leather rocker recliner that I was about to pull out my credit card and pay $119 for when I saw those little running critters from Hades on the chair!   Eeeeeeeewww and Oh My God!!!  I won't go back even for the other items because I know that means they are in that store.  Ugh, makes my stomach rumble thinking about it.

My random thought right now honestly is that I am very disappointed in myself for how badly I have fallen away from doing my Fusion Cash work as regularly as I used to.  I so need to get back to it.  I did not even get a check at all last month and still am not even at cash out level because I have been a bad, bad girl about doing my work.  I can only be mad at myself though.

I would say that I fear snakes, spider, and rats.  I would also fear any other creature that is larger than more or has better night vision than a human.

I guess my go-to comfort foods are either chocolate, ice cream, or pretzel or chips and nacho cheese dip.

Congratulations to you on that one.  I have never visited a casino, but have had similar luck on the scratch-off cards.  That's about as close as I can compare, but it is great!

vp44, thank you for saying that.  I was thinking the same thing.  I am so over-paranoid about the knowledge that bringing one little bedbug can lead to just yuuuuuuuuck that I have the same (probably irrational) fear.
