Have you checked your local library?  Our library has a video section where you can check out movies.  Most are not current but some old ones you can't find anywhere else.

My parents picked out their plots and paid for them along with their vaults.   My father died in 1985 and we went through the normal process of all the other expenses that it entails.   A week after we buried him my mother called me and told me she wanted to go ahead an plan her funeral and pay for everything and wanted me to go with her, which I did.  She picked out her casket, flowers for the casket and everything else that goes along with it. The contract stated no price increases. She died in 2013.  All we had to do was call the funeral home.  Everything was arranged and there were no additional charges.  In fact we got a refund.  She decided a couple of years before she passed that she wanted to be cremated and that lower the charges.   We know it would have been a lot more expensive if we paid for it at the time of her death.  What she did was a wonderful gift to all of us and I have always be grateful.

Today is the 75th anniversary of D-Day. I still have a Great-Uncle at 95 who was there on the beaches of Normandy. To him and all the brave men who stood with him, you have our eternal gratitude. God bless!

Agree as strongly as I can agree!!  Watched some of the ceremonies and I was amazed to watch a couple of the men parachute.  It was really touching to watch the vets that were able to be there.   We owe all vets our gratitude.

This is one of the cases where I'm conflicted when asked about it.  I just have to trust the parole board who, I'm sure, has looked over the case carefully.  I can't just automatically say "no" she should never get out on parole but likewise I can't say yes, she should be allowed to get out on parole.

We use to do jigsaw puzzles all the time.  Not sure why we stopped.   Happy you posted this, may have to get one and do it.    :)

I'm sorry you are experiencing Shingles.  Fortunately I never have but I have a good friend who had it and she told me it was the most painful thing she had ever experienced.   I know the vaccination is recommended for people over 50.  I would definitely go to the doctor to get some relief, especially if it is just beginning.

We have another mass shooting, this time in Virginia Beach where an employee who was fired yesterday came back today and killed 12.  When will this end?

He wasn't fired.  He sent in a letter of resignation on the same day as the shooting.  It really is so sad that people are getting use to hearing about mass shootings.  I think the one fortunate issue is the police were right across the street and got there within minutes.  Had they not, there is no telling how many more would have been killed or injured.  It's so depressing to keep hearing about these shootings.

Off-Topic / Re: Do you get tired in early afternoon?

When I worked I did get that mid afternoon slump.  Now that I'm retired it doesn't happen anymore.   When I was working and I would feel it coming on I would get up and walk away from my desk, a brisk walk down the hallway usually helped.  I would snack on nuts (almonds were my favorite) and a small piece of cheese.  Go to the restroom and splash cool water on my face and maybe do a few stretches in the bathroom.  You can google "mid afternoon sleepiness" and get some great tips.

They have a day for just about everything, I think they should have a national no adulting day. I could use one. Sometimes I get tired of worrying about money, bills, trying to make more and everything else.

NO.  Could you imagine?  People would use that to really act stupid.

Not me, nor most of my adult friends, we would use it to play games outside, run through the sprinkler or maybe go to the movies and try to get in for a child's price.

That, fortunately, is one of the scams I knew about.  I still get lots of emails from various sources, one being Apple, telling me my account is locked and I need to click on the link to verify my information or my account will be permanently locked.  It's easy to tell the email scams because of the addresses.   It's so sad that people can be so greedy to rip others off.

Thanks!  I saw this and wasn't going to attempt but after reading your post and the responses I went and did it and got credited.  You're correct, short and sweet.

What fun that would be.  My only issue would be trying to "not worry about money, bills, etc." But I do think it would be a good idea.  Go outside and play games all day.

I don't mind name, address and email.  Don't like giving my phone number.  I have done it on another site because I liked the reward the survey offered.   I don't answer any calls I don't know who it is so I'm okay with the phone calls.  I've also blocked some of the numbers when I believe it's a telemarketer.
