Off-Topic / The Effects of Clinincal Depression on your Pocketbook
« on: November 18, 2010, 09:44:14 am »Message ID: 271084
Just wondering if any of our members have suffered from clinical depression and the effect that that has had on your pocketbook or back account? To make a very long story as short as possible,  I've suffered from the adult symptoms of clinical depression for 35 years. In 2007, thanks to a combination of the right medication and years of talk therapy, my symptoms are now completely controlled.  However my bank account/financial situation was in ruins.
The depression caused my decision making abilities to land in the toilet.  During that 35 years I majored in a subject in undergrad and grad school, I should not have majored in. I hopped from one job to the next because I wasn't happy with what I was doing.  When my first wife who really was the bread winner died in 1998, things went from bad to worse.  I charged on my credit cards because I couldn't work,  I was so depressed after she died, eventually I went bankrupt and now I'm currently on disability.
In 2007, things began to finally turn around.  My doctor found a medication that was right for me. My second wife is extremely supportive, she is working.  I'm still on disability but over the last few months I began to supplement my income by making money online based on a  plan I've made for myself.

Now it's your turn.  If any of you suffer from clinical depression, what effects has that had on your pocketbook and what if anything have you done about it or would like to do about it ?  Thanks in advance for sharing and God bless you.   :angel12:

Off-Topic / Social Media Sites and Gimmicks
« on: August 19, 2010, 09:19:03 am »Message ID: 222974
Today the competition between social media sites is fierce.  In order to get people to sign up, most of these sites use different types of gimmicks (e.g. games to win points, points to share the profits, read emails for cash or points, etc.).  Sometimes these so called gimmicks don't quite work out the way they should.  People don't receive their cash or points on time,  the admin does not respond to member's complaints in a timely manner, or a gimmick never does get off the ground.  As a result, some members switch their focus from networking to the problems with the gimmick(s).  Their constant complaints cause the site to develop a bad rep.  More members quit and very few new people join.

If this happened to a site that you were a member of, what would you do?

Off-Topic / Are You Quick to Yell Scam or Do You Do Your Research ?
« on: May 19, 2010, 08:10:43 am »Message ID: 181488
So many people are reporting that they have been scammed by ptc sites.  Unfortunately, there are quite a bit of scam ptc's out there.  But I've also noticed that many people have developed "scamophobia ", that is, they are quick to accuse a site of being a scam for the simple reason that they either heard about it or read about it from someone else.  Do you find yourself doing that or do you do some criteria based research first and then decide ? I prefer to do the latter first rather than depend on hearsay. For example one of the "scam indicators" that I use is to check out the forum and find out what other members are saying about the site, if they are paid on time, and I check if the admin is positively responsive to the members.  Again, how do you guys handle this situation ?  If you have any "scam indicators" that you use, please share as we can all learn.  Thanks in advance for your input.
