Off-Topic / WE ARE NEW JERSEY
« on: November 02, 2012, 04:05:41 pm »Message ID: 634003

Dear America,

We are the REAL New Jersey. We are NOT the cast of MTV's Jersey Shore or Jerseylicious or the "Real Housewives" of New Jersey. We are hard-working people who happen to live in a beautiful state that is often the butt of biased comedians' jokes. But that is because they don't know us; they only know the stereotyped Jerseyite.

We are educated. We are resilient. We take great pride in our state. Our parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents were immigrants who worked in refineries, docks and train stations. We are the sons and daughters of blue collar workers that allowed (by hard work , sacrifice, and sweat) New York City's economic development to occur. We are the grandchildren and children of police officers, teachers, railroad workers and firefighters.

We also take amazing pride in our homes. Why? Because we have worked many jobs to afford them in a state that is very expensive to live in due to our resources. You see, others save up to visit here; we have to work that much harder to live here. Yet, we relish our mountains, we enjoy being near forests and streams, and our New Jersey Coastline is the most amazing natural site. Though a cliché, our backyards are the vacation spots for other people. From Keansburg Amusement Park to Atlantic City, we offer a plethora of experiences enhanced by the majestic and natural beauty of our beaches and the friendly demeanor of our people.

And when our backs are up against the wall, we will come together and work toward a common goal. So pray for us, assist us if you feel inclined to with donations….and then WATCH US as we get through this difficult challenge victoriously, We will be ready to serve frozen custard, funnel cake and salt water taffy with the sounds of: the Seaside Park Roller Coaster, Atlantic City Casino's, Bon Jovi playing at Asbury Park, screams from Runaway Rapids in Keansburg, horse and buggy rides in Cape May, the yelling kids on the Himalaya at Point Pleasant or the sound of Jetskis roaring off the water in Sandy Hook and Belmar in the background.

We are New Jersey…and we will get through this with our diligence and the Grace of God.

Off-Topic / Letter to Reverend Al Sharpton

Dear Mr Sharpton,
I am curious as to why your not making noise about yesterdays shooting of a Nassau County Police officer, and a motorist that got carjacked. Stop the violence should be coming out of your mouth, if I were you i'd be ceasing the opportunity to express the outrage of the violence brings, and the pain it leaves behind. If this were a young african american male, oh but wait, Mr Facey is an african American male, if it was a young hispanic male, wait again, Police officer Lopez was a young hispanic, the difference is that it was a male african American that was not a "COP" that did the shooting and killing. Does it make this less in value somehow ?
Does it not fit your criteria of "JUSTICE" ?
Do you think it will give you negative publicity with your captive audience ?
Those two men deserve the same attention you give those other folks, just like the young hispanic male that was accidentally shot while running out of the bodega in the middle of a robbery. Was it tragic that young man died ? ABSOLUTELY, Do you think that officer feels mo remorse in what happened, ABSOLUTELY. I bet you that officer is having nightmares over what happened. The perp that killed officer Lopez and Mr Facey has no remorse, as he had no remorse for the person he tried killing 8yrs ago. You sure did make a lot of noise when Abner Louima was sodomized by Justin Volpi, as you should have, that was outrage, even i was outraged that he would tarnish the department like that. Volpi got 30yrs for that. Was attempted murder not a big enough reason to keep this individual behind bars for a longer period of time. Today Mr Facey would be alive and so would officer Lopez.
Even if you don't want to value Officer Lopez's life, at least value Mr Facey's, he most certainly did not deserve to die like an animal on the side of the road while on the phone with his daughter, he pulled over to help what he thought was a human being in distress. You might say officer Lopez was doing his job, you'd be correct, he was doing what he was paid for.

You send young men 18-20 years old to fight a war in a foreign land then get shocked when they act like kids? War is deplorable in itself.

Off-Topic / Polish Loan:
« on: January 06, 2012, 08:38:11 am »Message ID: 471342
(((im Polish and i think this is pretty funny)))

A Polish guy walked into a bank in New York City and asked for the loan officer. He told the loan officer that he was going to Poland on business for two weeks and needed to borrow $5,000 and that he was not a depositor of the bank.
The bank officer told him that the bank would need some form of security for the loan, so the Polish guy handed over the keys to a new Ferrari. The car was parked on the street in front of the bank.
The Polish guy produced the title and everything checked out. The loan officer agreed to hold the car as collateral for the loan and apologized for having to charge 12% interest.
Later, the bank's president and its officers all enjoyed a good laugh at the "dumb" Polack for using a $250,000 Ferrari as collateral for a $5,000 loan. Then the employee of the bank then drove the Ferrari into the bank's underground garage and parked it.
Two weeks later, the Polish guy returned, repaid the $5,000 and the interest of $23.07.
The loan officer said, 'Sir, we are very happy to have had your business, and this transaction has worked out very nicely, but we are a little puzzled. While you were away, we checked you out and found that you are a multimillionaire. What puzzles us is, why would you bother to borrow $5,000?'
The Polish guy replied: Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for only $23.07 and expect it to be there when I return?'
