Off-Topic / What's Your Guilty Pleasure?? ( Let's keep it PG if you don't mind ;) )
« on: November 28, 2011, 12:41:50 am »Message ID: 452056
I have been busting my butt with school lately (almost done woohoo) and I've been rewarding myself with vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce and homemade cookie crumbles while I unwind by watching episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer on Netflix.

When you feel like treating yourself what's your guilty pleasure??

Off-Topic / Does it annoy you when.....

you come across a misspelled word, incorrect punctuation, or incorrect grammar in a newspaper or magazine article or in a novel?

It has got to be one of the WORST pet peeves that I have!!  :BangHead:  :BangHead:  :BangHead:

I'm sure that there are some things that totally escape my notice. :) The recurring email with only the first and last letter in place and everything else scrambled gives away that fact about everyone but I would hope if you were publishing something you would at least proofread your work AND most of them (if not all) have an editor!!! I'm thinking that I would really enjoy being a proofread or editor. I may not be the best editor in the business BUT I wouldn't have let an article slip by my desk that quoted President Bush as saying the after the Sept 11th attacks he wanted Obama "dead or alive."  :o

I was completely unaware that Barack Obama was the cause of the 9/11 attacks. So nice to be told now that he is our President.  ::) And get this.. there was MORE THAN 1 place in the article that had the Osama/Obama typo.  :angry7:

I'm so loving that at the end of the videos they are adding a link to print the recipe! I only wish I could go back and get some of the older recipes. :)

Has anyone used any of the recipes before? If so which ones and would you be willing to share what you thought??

We are ALWAYS looking for new recipes in my house. :)

Debate & Discuss / Thoughts about TV shows and Racism...
« on: February 24, 2011, 01:44:49 pm »Message ID: 317793
There are plenty of shows out there that show racism in some respect but not as many that might occasionally show racism but it is always in a really harsh this is not the way things should be light.

There are plenty of comedy shows that make off color comments that can be funny but racism is never really shown in a bad light but more as something to laugh at.

Crime shows show how racism is bad and people that view the world in this way are bad people but there is always the underlying current that this is the way things are and that it will never change.

Then you have the Sci-fi shows (mainly the different Star Trek series coming to mind here) that will come right out and say that this is not an acceptable way to behave....not even the we are all human but more we are all sentient life and are equal etc. But in it's own way it still promotes stereotypes (there are exceptions of course but the main stereotypes are there) examples: A Ferengi (spelling will probably be atrocious here sorry Trekkies) will try to sell you salt as some rare mineral and are always trying to cheat you. A Vulcan must be serious and logical at all times. etc etc. Although on the other side a view of embracing these "stereotypical" differences as everyone has something to bring to the table.

I have noticed that "preschool" cartoons will try to be as "non-racist" as possible by the characters all looking different and having different skin tones etc. (This person is yellow with purple hair while this person is peachy pink with green hair.....) But it seems like as the cartoons get "older" the characters begin to all look the same.

So to make this more debatable (besides people just coming out and telling me that I'm wrong LOL)

Do you think that we as a society make an attempt to create a non-racist society but then just allow everything to fall into old habits??

And if you have children do you as a parent try to watch and try to have your children watch shows that promote acceptance and celebration of differences?

Off-Topic / What does the average 3 year old boy like??
« on: February 23, 2011, 01:33:12 pm »Message ID: 317171
Just wanted to ask some opinions from everyone since I know that we have a really diverse group here. I know what 3 year old girls are into and I know what MY (almost) 3 year old boy is into but I am at a loss for what to get a little boy for his birthday. Some ideas I was throwing around are cars, thomas the train, dinosaurs....and that's all I've got. LOL

If anyone can add anything I would really appreciate it. :)

If you did get to do it did you experience this problem and if so how did you resolve it?? THANKS ALL!!

Hi all!

I was wondering if anyone had done the homescan thing and what you could get with your rewards points and if you had any trouble claiming said reward. I am definitely interested but I want a sneak peek at the rewards so to speak to see if it would be worth it to do.

Offers / How do you keep track of completed offers??
« on: June 21, 2009, 11:00:37 am »Message ID: 63808
I have been reading through the forum and noticed that many of you are members of more than one GPT site. Since they are (rightly) so strict about only completing an offer once how do you keep track of which offers or surveys you have completed across multiple sites???? So far I'm only a member of FC but was thinking of trying a few other sites and I could definitely use some tips for offer tracking. TIA!
