Off-Topic / Going to go see a movie in theaters or wait till on dvd rent/own??

A common fear of mine, I debate on going to the theater to see a movie with my Hubby. Good date yada yada but the movie is a big let down 
so we end up paying 40 some dollars to sit in the dark while I could have waited and rented it for 5 bucks and had a nice night in cuddling on the couch.
What about you guys?
