Off-Topic / On average how much do you spend on groceries?
« on: October 16, 2014, 07:32:09 pm »Message ID: 927289
So as a college student I have such a hard time deciding what to buy...To save i buy things that would last me longer and i've become a "vegetarian" 4 days a week.

This is mainly because I cant afford it, and i feel some what guilty when i but too much.

On average how much would you spend on groceries for yourself? Not a complete household but as an individual?

Off-Topic / Ed Sheeran "Thinking Out Loud"

I think it's such a cute song and MV. The choreography has so much in it.

Off-Topic / If the BF picked me up from the airport..
« on: October 12, 2014, 12:19:55 pm »Message ID: 926149
I know it's wishful thinking knowing my situation and how difficult it just is for my boyfriend and I to spend time together...
But I don't know. I think if he picked me up from the airport when I go back home for the holidays.. I would probably fall all over again.

It would be reassuring. It would feel like the good would outweigh the bad by alot more  than just 10 or 20%.
It would just be nice for him to be the first person I see when I get back.

Yes, this is an emotional fireworks kind of a  moment. xD I just thought about it; it would be cute.

But then again, he still has many building blocks to successfully climb.. My parents being 2 of those blocks.

Off-Topic / Plasticity of the Brain
« on: October 07, 2014, 08:48:03 pm »Message ID: 924933
So I'm in a bio class, and I find this to be a very interesting topic. Learning about how people were once so against the idea that the brain is plastic and how those supporting such ideas were ridiculed is all very intriguing.

I think it's amazing how patients suffering from conditions such as the effects of having a stroke to aphasia have the ability to try to be better and that whether or not they can do it relies heavily on the mentality...

it all just seems like such a miracle to me. :D

Off-Topic / PTA Programm
« on: October 07, 2014, 04:06:32 pm »Message ID: 924854
So right now I am an undergrad and am an undeclared major. I'm leaning towards pubic health policy. However I after taking a bio class have become really interested in physical therapy.

I want to help in the process. Helping and assisting others have always been one of my callings. The things is I'm not sure how to go from PH Policy to PTA....

Off-Topic / The overexaggerating girlfriend
« on: October 05, 2014, 09:57:00 am »Message ID: 924212

So, my unofficial boyfriend and I have passed the honeymoon stage. Now that I am away for college it gets really hard because as much as we want to spend time talking we both have things to do.
And I understand that but... Am I over-exaggerating when I get upset and disappointed at him for doing things I tell him not to do?

I told him not to drink alcohol because he knows how I feel about it and also because he didn't eat all day.. and before I know it hes skyping me drunk... buzzed.. whatever you want to call it..

Am I being too much? Because all I know is I'm not trying to be the obsessive girlfriend who  doesn't allow him to have fun or keep him an alcohol free...

I just want him to absorb the things I say...

Off-Topic / Acne...
« on: September 18, 2014, 09:55:14 am »Message ID: 918894

So ever since I hit puberty I have had acne, but last year after starting college I started to have the worst breakouts I have seen on my face. My cheeks especially and they tend to leave dark spots/ scars. Once it disappears on one side the the other side of my cheek suffers... Huuuuuh.

I know it was stress, and i know it was being in a different environment with a different diet... but it's been a year. I've been home for the past few months, and it's hardly gotten any better.

Proactiv has never worked for me. I've tried Laneige, Clean and Clear, and some other generic stuff.

It's not bad to the point in seeing a dermatologist seeing that my skin type is a little more prone to acne, but is there anything you can suggest I do?

Off-Topic / The Moulin Rouge Soundtracks

I still think Moulin Rouge has some of the most heartwarming songs ever. Just beautiful. I've been replaying Come What May and Your Song these past few days.

I'm not sure if that makes me happy but.... I just know I'm not really looking forward to it.
It does mean I am getting a few extra hours.

Off-Topic / Cheap things to do with broke friends?

Off-Topic / Summer Vacation just started for me but...

I'm already tired and upset about it.

I just want to be able to enjoy it but these last few days have seemed impossible.

Off-Topic / FInals in 2 days..

I'm so behind.. I can't find the will to study or do well.. I feel like Im going to fail it because I haven't been keeping up with the work. And because of that I'm low energy and don't want to do it anymore...

But at the same time I know it's because I'm tired of this summer course... Its been 12 weeks since I've been in summer school.....

Off-Topic / Being The Youngest...
« on: September 02, 2014, 09:17:34 am »Message ID: 914446
Being the youngest of 9 gets pretty hard.
There's the pressure not to make the same mistakes your 8 older siblings made.
The pressure to be better.
The pressure to be the best of the best...

But coming from a Hmong family with parents that are traditional...
My personal life gets very messing.
Who I date, when I date..

=___= It gets complicated..

Off-Topic / I went on my first date last night..
« on: September 01, 2014, 09:35:59 am »Message ID: 914039
It's was a very different scenario for me. He asked my mom for permission since my parents are very traditional Hmong parents. My dad did not really approve when I had told him, but my sister couldn't tell if he said in Hmong "No" or "whooa"
so to be safe when he asked my mom we ended the night early.

But for starters he spent the whole day with my family because we had a BBQ. At first I was teasing him about coming because I always do.. but then all my older siblings invited him. LOL so he came and was awkward for a very long time. Then he went home and picked me up later for a movie date.

He's not my boyfriend, but.... He paid for me. :D my last boyfriend didn't even pay for me and it was matinee. I'm not saying i'm relying on him to pay, but as new as this unofficial boyfriend of mine is to the concept of a relationship, he was off to a good start. He was really nervous and honest about how he was feeling.

To be honest I was nervous at first, until i realized how nervous he was, and I found it really cute so I got comfortable. LOL :) Tried to make it comfortable for him as well. LOL We watched If I Stay.. But half way in i realized.. Too many kissing scenes!  I FREAKED OUT.

But then at the end we laughed it off and he sent me home because my early curfew was nearing, and I didn't actually have my dad's permission. But all in all, this was my first official date. It was different, but nice.
