Off-Topic / Re: Gay Rights
« on: November 26, 2009, 10:20:22 pm »Message ID: 113396
I think that the world won't stop spinning whether or not I give an opinion, however, I'll go ahead and voice my views on the subject.

I don't agree with homosexuality. I think it's just...wrong. Why? Because I'm straight and view it as kind of weird, probably as do most people like me. Does that make me right? Of course not. We're all human, regardless of sexual orientation. I'm not gay. I don't know what it's like to be gay, and whether people choose that lifestyle or if it's all hormones. The only people who can really speak for that are homosexuals themselves. Therefore, I don't think that I really deserve an opinion on the matter.

As for rketcham's post, what I understood was that it is scientifically impossible for gay couples to conceive on their own and that therefore the human race would not continue unless there were at least some man/woman couples. This is fact. For now, anyways.
The rest of the comment might throw people off, but that part is particularly clear.

I've never seen a Jack in the Box or Sonic in my entire life yet they're CONSTANTLY showing me their delicious fried crap and technicolor drinks all day on the tv.

I had never seen a Jack in the Box either, but then I drove to Florida over the summer and they're all over the Southeast. Same with Krystal and Waffle House.

I used to go with my church. I might this year, I'm not sure if they're doing it or not.

The referrer's username is on the left side of your account page, directly below the list of your referrals and the total amount of money you have.

As for referrals, I would say that Youtube seems like it's good.

I'm thinking about doing that, but AT&T's Internet is like twice the cost without a landline, since it's broadband DSL.

Wish AT&T had better coverage in random spots in the midwest though. Hate to think what would happen if I got stuck somewhere.

Hate that. I'll be at some music festival on a buffalo ranch in the middle of Kansas and I can't get a freaking signal. In contrast, Alltel, which is relatively unknown out here, has excellent coverage for some reason.

I have an LG CU920. It's like an iPhone in appearance in function, but smaller and has less apps and a battery that stays charged longer than 2 hours.  :P Free with a 2-year contract.
Pretty cool. I found out how to get a lot of my favorite movies and music on it. Good 3G, but I forgot that I didn't have a data plan and accidentally racked up a $97 service charge. Ouch. They waived the fee, which I was surprised to hear, but I'm getting a 3G plan now.

Off-Topic / Re: xbox 360 why charge
« on: November 24, 2009, 09:46:50 pm »Message ID: 112790
If people pay for it in huge numbers, it's not squeezing people for every penny.  The price is what it is simply because the demand for the product is high, and the marginal benefit of the product is great.  If less people bought Live and started substituting PS3s for Xboxs, the price would go down.  You can't blame them for charging a specific price when there are substitutes for a product and people decide not to purchase those substitutes.  It's not like you don't get what you pay for...Live is clearly a great product or people wouldn't keep subscribing to it.

True, but I think that Microsoft's stuff is way overpriced anyways. For example, a PS3 comes with:
80gb hard drive
Blu-Ray technology
HDMI cables
Built-in Wi-Fi
Headset
Big hard drive
Internet-ready
2 (I think) controllers
Total cost: $299
In addition, the PS3 has free online multiplayer,  several good game franchises, and the ability to surf the Internet and store stuff like music and videos. For all you know, I could be writing this on a PS3.

The Xbox 360 (standard edition) comes with:
60gb Hard Drive
1 controller
A crappy headset
And....nothing else?
Total cost: $299
Requiring you to buy
Extra controller:$60
Wireless Headset:$60
HDMI cables: $20-$30
Wi-Fi adapter: $100 (they've got to be joking)
That last one got me. I know for a fact this is true, but still. $100 for that, when in 5 minutes I just ran an Ethernet cable under the floor?
Total cost: $5.  Although, I had an unused hole in the floor that used to contain a cable line. Results may vary.
Grand Xbox total: around $550. Add that to the 40% failure rate (yes, that's a fact), the limited function of XBL, and the idiocy of Microsoft customer service, and I'm surprised they kept the brand alive. It probably wouldn't be if not for the Halo franchise and a few others. If they don't release Project Natal soon, I doubt it will.

Righty and very lucky about that too because I managed to severely damage my left thumb this summer and had to have surgery.  (I severed my tendon and nerve and still can't straighten the tip it looks really funny).

Wow, the exact same thing happened to me a long time ago, although it was my right hand. Still hasn't totally straightened out, but I can use it normally otherwise. It was infuriating not being able to write and do stuff with the arm (I was a righty) while it healed, so I taught myself to use my left hand. Now I'm pretty much ambidextrous. Ever since, I've been trying to learn a new language so I can be like James A. Garfield and write 2 languages simultaneously, lol.

I love using the word twit in conjunction with various fake British accents (English, Scottish, Irish, it's funny anyway) and people always laugh. ;D
