There used to be games here where you could earn a bonus if you made a high score.  There was a "Game of the Month" available from a list of them which was available in the PTC.  They set a score you had to meet or exceed, and if you did, you submitted your score and received the bonus.  This, however, hasn't been around for quite some time now.  Would be great to see it, or something like it, return sometime in the future!

I'm 99.99% certain that you can't request another cashout until your current pending one has been approved or denied.  Once your pending one is settled, just request a new one before the 31st of this month, and you'll get your money by the 20th of November.

The reason these partnerships work so well in the gas station example, is their probably is an equal amount of benefit to each company.  If you are stopping for gas and are a bit hungry, you have food right there offered which is more than the prepacked stuff inside the actual gas station.  If you're driving, especially on a road trip, and stop to grab a bite to eat because you're hungry, you might be more inclined to then top off the tank while you're stopped before proceeding on the trip so you don't have to stop again in an hour or so when the tank will need filling because it'll be on E.

your wrong there its not as equal as you think. If gas prices are high most gas stations are empty at gas only places. When they have a mix of both gas and fast food that brings in bussiness for both no matter how high the gas is. If the food is good the people will come and even spend at the gas place as well. If you ask any gas station owner the gas isnt what brings in the money they make very little off of it its the stuff thats sold inside that bring in the money but if gas isnt low enough it wont attract people. That's what the other bussiness would do attract people for both

You're right, the profits for gas station owners doesn't come so much from the gas.  That is why you rarely see a standalone station anymore without a convenience station attached selling consumables like soda, water, chips, candy, cigarettes, etc.  Those are are much more highly profitable.

But, businesses like Subway, Taco Bell, KFC, etc. who sell franchises to place at these stations wouldn't do so if it wasn't profitable to their company, and conversely the stations wouldn't do it if it didn't benefit them.  Like I said, if you're stopping for gas, and you have a hankering for some food, would you rather have a sub, burrito, or hot chicken, or some pre-packaged candy/chips?  Likewise, if you stopped for food because you like one of those fast foods, you'll probably be more inclined to top your tank off while there.

I don't see any benefit to the USPS by doing this.  If anything, I only see a benefit to the fast food places.  If you only have the munchies and stop at a combined place to grab a burger or burrito, what are you going to spend money on at the attached post office?  Maybe buy stamps if it maybe crosses your mind you might need some?  Conversely, if you are stopping at the post office to mail something, and a McDonald's was attached, a person is going to be more likely to then stop in there to grab a burger or fry, as food is much more of an impulse buy.

I would think with so much internet shopping that the post office would be doing better.

I think they mostly missed the boat on that.  Before they made their changes recently to Priority Mail, shipping via that method didn't offer as many benefits to the shipper and typically cost more.  The bulk of the products I get shipped from companies comes from UPS, followed by FedEx and then distantly back by USPS.  I think most companies established business with shipping carriers long ago.  The Postal Service I don't think read the tea leaves, if you will, as well as they should have in regards to where shopping and shipping were going as early as they should have.  Now they have a lot of catching up to do, and it might already be too late.

I guess the trend is to do everything online where your every move can be tracked by the government. I will still use the mail to send my bills. I won't do online bill pay.

If you think your postal mail isn't potentially being tracked by the government, you may want to think again.

Off-Topic / Re: What are your strategies when dealing with the common cold?
« on: October 04, 2013, 08:25:35 am »Message ID: 802058
It's nice to see several of you say "rest" and "stay home" as part of your strategy.  I wish more people implemented this as part of their means of getting better.  It's one of my biggest pet peeves when people who have no business being out in public do so when sick.  It's one of the big reasons why things spread as quickly as they do.  No one likes being sick.  Just because you have already gotten it, doesn't mean you shouldn't care about others.  I always see or hear people say "I can't miss work, I need the money."  In some cases, this is actually true.  But, I have seen so many others where people blow their sick days when the weather is nice because they want a long weekend or to be lazy.  There's a reason they're called sick days.  Use them when you are sick so you can stay home and not spread what you have to everyone at your job, or on the bus, subway, etc.  If you can't bank them and you're getting close to them expiring because you stayed healthy the whole year, use them then to take a long weekend.

My strategies for prevention are simply making sure to get 8 hours of sleep a night, eat well balanced meals, drink a lot of water, use a saline nasal wash to keep the nasal passages clean and moist, avoid people who I know are sick the best I can, take a good quality multi-vitamin, elderberry, and astragalus.  When the season really starts to pick up/get more severe (December-March) I'll double my typical vitamin D3 intake and add North American Ginseng.

If I do come down with something, I stay home and rest, keep eating well, increase the elderberry and water, take Umckaloabo extract at the first sign of symptoms, inhale steam infused with oregano oil, gargle with salt water and goldenseal if I have a sore throat.

Anything you post, other than in the "Word Chains & Countdowns" or "Contests & Promotions" boards, count towards your bonus.  However, your posts need to be of a contributory nature.  You just can't post one or two word posts, or jibberish.  It needs to have meaningful content.

If you come on here daily, all you need to do is make one quality post each day, and you'll get to the 30 with ease.  Even if you come on average of half the month, that's just two posts each time you visit the site.  The Forum Bonus is just one of the many great things about this site!

Congrats!

It's mind boggling to me why everyone who is a member here doesn't take advantage of this bonus.  Why would you leave $2.00-12.00 on the table every year when the process to get it is so easy?

Man, I have to think about this.  I guess technically my first ever cassette tape I ever had was a homemade one my uncle gave me when I was a child.  It was a bunch of Raffi songs.  For an actual commercially released cassette, I think it was Billy Joel's Storm Front.

Inevitably, many people are going to complain when postage goes up again.  No one likes seeing prices go up, while for the most part your hourly wage or salary seems to stay stagnant.  But, when you think about how you can send a letter/card from say, Maine, across the entire continent to California, that $0.49 really doesn't seem all that unreasonable.  As more and more people do things like pay bills electronically, read magazines on tablets, etc. causing physical mail volume to lessen, they are going to have to find ways to mitigate financial losses.  Fuel prices also don't help.  Raising postage is just going to be one of many steps they're going to have to take.
