Off-Topic / Re: Lies to get referrals
« on: September 16, 2018, 08:06:57 am »Message ID: 1237988
I read a few replies and find that most have incommon my experience. I've passed on referrals and what I find is that it takes a certain kind of person to do this. This is not a get rich quick scheme. More something to do to make a little extra cash on the side (say while your watching TV at night). Most people would rather just stare at the TV. I would rather be watching and making a little cash. No one I have ever referred stays with it.

Debate & Discuss / Re: Who was President when you were born?
« on: September 16, 2018, 08:01:42 am »Message ID: 1237985
1951 - Harry S. Truman. He assumed the presidency during the waning months of World War II and the beginning of the Cold War. Truman is known for implementing the Marshall Plan to rebuild the economy of Western Europe, for establishing the Truman Doctrine and NATO against Soviet and Chinese Communism. Stalin was in control of the Soviet Union at this time.

I am so glad I read this topic.  I had no idea she had put out a new book.  I'm going right from posting to ordering it from my library.  Thank you so much for bringing this up.  Lucky find for me!

About Burt Reynolds, by the way.  I always thought of him in relationship to Florida because his place was right down from my mother's in Jupiter, FL.  The day he passed away, however, I heard he was born/raised in Lansing, MI.  I lived in Lansing 13 years and never knew. My son was born in Lansing.   :star:

Off-Topic / Re: Do you use the Library?

I use the library all the time. Have watched all of the Game of Thrones that way, read amazing books, rented tons of DVDs, and best of all we have a bookmobile (not in town) so it is all delivered within blocks of my home.  Library lending is one of the coolest things ever! :star:

Off-Topic / Re: Bacon: Thick or thin?
« on: September 15, 2018, 11:31:41 pm »Message ID: 1237951
:star: Without a doubt thick bacon!  And I agree with the post that said peppery and thick! Although I do have to say that Costco has some slammin Turkey bacon that is neither peppery or thick.  I cook with it almost every day and it is quite good.  :star:

Off-Topic / Re: Should marijuana be excluded in drug test for employment? What do you think?
« on: September 15, 2018, 11:28:24 pm »Message ID: 1237950
Yes, it should be excluded. If you live in a state where marijuana is legal then it would invade privacy to include this in a prescreening. We don't test for alcohol or prescription drugs. Both of which are far more impairing that marijuana.   Bottom line, employers hire employees for their level of talent, commitment, and longevity. Because someone smokes marijuana (could be medical) does not make them a bad employee. Just as someone who drinks a beer or two at night, or takes sleeping pills, etc. is not either.

We would live in a very narrow world if we tested people on every stimulant or relaxant they put in their bodies. Worry about how someone performs at work. Nothing else. The rest is not your or their business.  :star:

Support / Re: DISCREPANCIES IN MY DAILY CREDITS
« on: August 16, 2012, 07:17:11 pm »Message ID: 589001
I occasionally notice that my toolbar is out of sync, but it usually catches up by the next day.  I'll have to track my earnings for a while and see if there is a discrepancy.  I, too, have always had my support tickets responded to. Sometimes it takes a while, as I know they are quite busy with all of us. And I don't think the staff is large.  I do want to say (off topic) that I LOVE your login name.  It's very descriptive and fun! :)

Hi anotherlaujgirl.  I left you a response a few weeks ago and saw your message today.  I hope you've used the past few weeks to put this behind you one day at a time and are starting to see that there is life after bad situations.  I'm sending positive thoughts and encouragement to you as I'm writing this post.  Take care of yourself. And remember even a bad situation is a good example of what you don't want in your life.  You're on the right track.  Hang in there!

Read lots of good movies in the post and most are one's I like too.  These are big favorites of mine:  My Cousin Vinny (Joe Pesci, Ralph Macchio, Marisa Tomei), Moonstruck (Cher, Nicolas Cage, Danny Aiello, Vincent Gardenia, and Olympia Dukakis), Once Around ( Richard Dreyfuss, Holly Hunter, Danny Aiello, Laura San Giacomo and Gena Rowlands).

I like gmail and I think google has great applications.  One thing that I find difficult with gmail is piping it through Outlook.  They don't play very well together.  I have had my hotmail account in my outlook for years and never a problem. Just added my gmail account recently and that's a whole different story. I think I'll leave the gmail on the browser. Bummer because it makes the filing easier if everything is in one location.

I'm glad you posted this topic. It's interesting to hear the information that everyone has on this subject.  I had heard about the explosion, it's good no one was seriously injured.  I read an article about the rise in prices and the bend of the article was that the rise is due to "panic" buying. It will be interesting to see if the prices settle back down in a few weeks.

Off-Topic / Re: I've been trying this new cleaning tactic
« on: August 10, 2012, 10:27:11 pm »Message ID: 585773
I like that process myself.  I just put in the time as I go and the house stays up to par.  Much better for me than a big cleaning once a week which really can take the better part of a day. I like breaking it up and don't notice the time loss at all because it comes in much smaller chunks.  I actually enjoy cleaning so really don't mind just doing it as I go through the day/week.  I like the feeling of a clean home, so this way I get to enjoy it that way all the time.

Off-Topic / Re: BBQ season is almost over. What is your favorite thing to BBQ,Smoke or Grill?
« on: August 10, 2012, 10:20:35 pm »Message ID: 585771
I am not the BBQer in our house, but I certainly appreciate good BBQ.  And the description of those baby back ribs made my mouth water.  I LOVE ribs big time.  Do you do your own sauce?  I got my husband the BBQ, Grilling, and Rubs/Marinade Bible books for gifts a few years ago.  I am definitely the benefactor of these gifts!  I can look forward to lots of amazing BBQ/grilling every summer.  Thanks for the post - I think we need to have some ribs this weekend!

That is so cool!  8) and I would say it's about time!  Your post caused me to go look at an article about her. Her name is Shannon Eastin,  she's 42 years old and from Tempe, AZ.  She officiated the Thursday night game between the Green Bay Packers and San Diego Chargers.  The article said the cap she wore Thursday night will go in the  Pro Football Hall of Fame.  Good for her!

Debate & Discuss / Re: Petition to remove jerks from the forum
« on: August 09, 2012, 03:00:13 pm »Message ID: 585041
Reading this post turned out to be a wonderful experience.  First I laughed when I read the subject line.  A good thing.  Second, I learned about the "ignore button" - a really good thing!  I have noticed over the course of my participation in the forums that there are some members that just simply like to argue, are demeaning in their approach to others, and state way too many opinions as if they are facts. I love this "ignore button".  I can now just simply save myself the unpleasant experience of reading one of their replies by accident and having it affect my experience in the forum.  Gone forever - so cool! So thanks for your topic. I now have a valuable tool to keep my experience here as happy and fun as possible!
