I think people should stop having kids for a while... There are too, too many... The world's population is getting near 9 billion, and Earth's resources are becoming strangled!

Off-Topic / Re: Do you keep a man when he cheats? Are the standards the same for a woman

It all depends on the personalities of the people involved, of course. I was cheated on right after high school and I dumped him, but my friend was cheated on by her fiance a year later, and she stayed with him. *shrug* Her fiance was a different person from mine, and she's also very different from me.

I think kids NEED to be smarter than their parents. If they aren't, something's wrong.

Off-Topic / Re: Can MONEY buy you happiness?

Money can't buy happiness, but nor does it come from sex, or family, or respect, or any number of other things. None of those things hurt, though, so there's no reason to say they're inherently bad, just because they don't CAUSE happiness.

Off-Topic / Re: Is Spanking Your Child considered child abuse
« on: September 01, 2010, 08:01:34 am »Message ID: 230343
My parents used to spank us, but I don't remember if it ever actually HURT. I think the part that was so bad was the act of our mom or dad being so angry with us that they had to it us.
Actually, saying it like that, it sounds like a REALLY bad idea! I mean, yeah, it didn't hurt; but it still made us think that there are times when it's ok to get so mad we can hit the person we're mad at!
So, while it isn't abuse, I guess it still isn't good to do to kids.

I don't want to have my own kids... There are sooooo many out there, I'd only feel responsible by adopting! I mean, there are almost 9 billion people in the world. That's more than most ecologists say the earth can handle.  :sad1:

Usually hearty wheat kind of bread - it has a lot of chewiness and weight to it. Sometimes I crave pumpernickel though.

I got "Your Brain on Music" by Daniel J Levitin. It was recommended by a friend last week when I made everyone in the car be quiet for ten seconds during a solo in a song. This part of the song has a guitar and a violin playing the exact same notes at the exact same time, and I looooove it! This book is so perfect for me!
