Off-Topic / Re: Can you really be born evil?
« on: December 17, 2018, 02:21:45 pm »Message ID: 1252182
I have always believed that evil is learned. A baby is born a blank slate, and doesn't know what hate is. I think as they grown older, people can develop mental issues that make them commit evil acts. To specifically address your question, if I knew while my baby was in the womb that it would be turn out to be evil, I would still give birth to that baby and seek resources to address the impending evil.

My favorite chocolate is definitely milk-chocolate. It is kind of strange, because when I was a kid, white-chocolate was always my go-to. I mean, I won't turn down white-chocolate as an adult, because I still love it, but there is just something about milk-chocolate that I prefer!

Well, money-wise, I can't say I had a very productive year, but there certainly have been a lot of changes. I had my first baby (girl) in May. I went back to work, however, the cost of commuting and daycare became too much so in November I left my job to be a stay-at-home mom. Back in August I started an online degree program. So it's been a rather busy year for me, but I'm looking forward to the new year and hope everyone has a great one as well!

Off-Topic / Re: Depression
« on: October 17, 2018, 04:54:18 pm »Message ID: 1243017
I don't have a teenager, but I myself suffer from postpartum depression and anxiety. It can be hard. Sometimes I feel like nobody understands me, and I think that contributes to the depression and anxiety. So try to relate to the teen, and try to get them to understand that you understand, even if you really don't. Also, for the longest time, I was dead against medicines. But it got so bad for me, that I caved and just decided to give some medicine a try. I definitely feel like they have helped me. I'm not saying they are a cure-all, but they sure took the edge off and relieved some of the tension. There is nothing wrong with needing medicine to help, so if the teen does need medicine, do not make them feel as if it is a bad thing. Let them know it is there to help them. Overall, I would say that support is the best thing a person can provide to another person who is suffering from depression and/or anxiety.

Off-Topic / Re: Favorite Cereal
« on: October 17, 2018, 04:46:21 pm »Message ID: 1243015
My favorite cereal is Golden Grahams. When I was about 3 or 4 years old, my mom would take me to my great-grandmother's house in the mornings after she dropped my sisters off at school. My great-grandmother was blind, and needed help administering her insulin, so my mother helped her. Well every morning, my great-grandmother always set out for me and her a bowl of Golden Grahams cereal, and we would have a race to see who could finish first. I would always win, but when I got older, I realized she basically just let me win! She died when I was about 5. I miss her dearly.

It is so sad that all these brick-and-mortar stores are going out of business. First Toys R Us, now Sears. It's a shame that the online market has become a monopoly in the retail industry. I fear that one day, everything will be online. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good online sale every now and then, but I prefer to walk into a store and see what I want to purchase in person. I can physically examine it, make sure it is exactly the one I want. I can't do those things when purchasing online.

I know some people hate daylight savings time because the loss of an hour. But I honestly feel better when the sun starts to set later, it means warmth and summer are coming and that makes me happy because winter is dreary and depressing!

Can't say as I blame Lowes. He hasn't been doing well, and honestly, neither have his teammates. I primarily root for Chase Elliot, but Jimmie Johnson is my second pick. I'm glad he was able to place in the top 10 in yesterday's race.

Yeah, I never understood why they added those categories to PTC. I would prefer something more family-friendly.

Nope, never been arrested. My father was a police officer for 27 years...so that probably has a lot to do with it! But I never hung out with a bad crowd, and was always worried of doing the wrong thing, so I think my personality just kept me out of trouble.

Yep, I'm about 11 miles north of Boston and we have been getting slammed all day. I'd say we probably have at least 15 inches of snow, and it's just starting to taper off. Glad my office decided to close for the day. The whiteout conditions earlier were pretty scary, and the mass transit system (which I take everyday) was way off and delayed due to the snow. I would love to have either another closure or  delayed opening tomorrow, but I don't think I could be that lucky!

In our house, we have a metal holder that will stack up to 3 rolls of toilet paper, so it's always fully stocked just in case the current roll runs out. The worse is when you are in a public restroom! Then you gotta knock on the stall next to you, hope someone is in there, and ask them to hand you a wad. I have made it a habit to always check before going into the stall, so that I don't encounter such a situation!

Off-Topic / Re: Whats your favorite month?
« on: March 08, 2018, 10:11:32 am »Message ID: 1202544
I love the month of November. I love it so much, that when my husband proposed to me, I asked him if we could have our wedding in November (and lucky for me, he said it was no problem!). Autumn is my favorite season, and I feel like November is the heart of it. Crisp, cool air, crunchy colored leaves on the ground, pumpkins...all the sights and smells excite me. And of course, who could forget about Thanksgiving? November is my month of bliss!

Off-Topic / Re: How often do you buy fresh food and forget to eat it ?
« on: March 08, 2018, 10:04:16 am »Message ID: 1202537
We try not to, but it happens sometimes. Mostly because of me. I'm currently pregnant, and have the strangest aversions when it comes to food. Like, we will be in the grocery store, and decide that steak is good to have, but then for some reason, when it comes time to cook it, I won't want it. It happens with pork and chicken too. But before my pregnancy, I wouldn't even bat an eye at not eating those foods. I'm a meat and potatoes kinda girl! But there is something about this pregnancy that makes me not want meat sometimes. I still try to eat it, since I know meat contains a lot of nutrients that are healthy for the baby. But every once in a while, I just have to pass it up!

I'm not sure what the exact changes are, but I guess we will just have to wait and see how they pan out during this season. Hopefully, they are for the better, and don't make things worse. I've always believed in the motto "don't fix it if it ain't broke", and the way things were did not seem broken to me. But, again, we will just have to wait and see how these changes affect the new season.
